I vaguely recall that our second night in Pattaya was one of exploration. I think we again hit a whole bunch of gogos and a couple of beer bars as well. For some reason, and I’m not sure exactly what it is, but I didn’t really dig the beer bar scene. I didn’t find that the beer bar girls spoke English any better than their gogo counterparts, and playing games didn’t really add much to the mix for me. Also, since they were fully clothed (sexily dressed, but dressed nonetheless), I was always worried about what was hidden inside. Now, to be fair, Mrjoe and Naps both got very lucky at the beer bars. They found it a little easier there to interact versus the gogos. I think Pokerface agreed with me about the gogos.

PEPPERMINT PLACE A GO GO

I recall hitting Happy again and Peppermint Place as well. PP is a larger gogo with more than one stage. Like Happy (same ownership), they had waiters instead of waitresses. I think they had two separate dancing stages, plus two very little pedestal stages where the dancer danced in a miniskirt with no undies and with a spotlight shining straight up from the stage. Very nice. They also had against the back wall a small stage where two or three girls “danced” behind a glass enclosure. I think, though, that these caged creatures were not available for barfine. In the front, there was a small bar where four or five girls served drinks topless. Maybe a coincidence, but they were all well-endowed too.

PP seemed crowded all the time and, at times, they would restrict entry when the club got too crowded. It is located on Walking St up the escalators and right next to Marine Disco. Also, entrance is the most restrictive for two other reasons. Sometimes, they pat you down to make sure you’re not carrying a camera. I’m not sure why, nothing that shocking happens in there. Also, if you’re asian, they ask to see your ID. I remember being quite taken aback. My first thought was “you’ve got to be kidding, I passed 21 MANY years ago.” When I left, I asked why I was ID’d. They told me because Thai men were not allowed into the club. Interesting. I wonder why.

SUPER GIRLS AND SUPER BABY A GO GO

Directly across from each other, the same dancers work at both clubs. The girls there definitely seem younger than at the other clubs and they are almost all very attractive. Strangely enough, I remember that none of the girls there had their hair dyed blonde, and I don’t recall seeing many, if any, tattoos either. I’m not sure if all that is a coincidence or if that is part of the clubs’ plan. I was later told by a girl who worked at another club that the girls at Super Girl and Super Baby only go ST. I find it hard to believe that none of the girls would go LT, but that is what the girl said.

MARINE DISCO

A very popular spot that doesn’t really start rocking until around midnite. In my opinion, though, I didn’t like it. It was really dark in there (hard to see your targets) AND it was really loud in there as well. The single most distinguishing feature about the place is the incredibly loud bass coming from the speakers. I can still just about feel the pounding. Oh, yeah, that night we were there, a large German guy, who appeared drunk and/or high put his arm around aggressively and affectionately around the shoulders of Mrjoe. He then took a long stare at Naps appraisingly. It was at this time, we split.

I never went back there, and I never went to Marine II, which is an after-hours place. I guess everyone goes there after 2am, when Marine closes. Marine II is only open for a couple of hours though. Still, Mrjoe and Pokerface ended up scoring there that second night we were there.

As an aside, all along Walking St, and most of the other big Sois as well, people are always trying to sell you something. That includes polaroids of you and your date, flowers and large stuffed animals. Which brings me to my favorite story of the trip. One late night, Pokerface picked up a girl from one of the discos. As they leave, she wants to stop at the stuffed animal vendor. Pokerface’s immediate reaction is that he’s not going to buy her anything. It turns out that she had already bought this huge (like 5 ft. tall) stuffed gorilla, and she just wanted to pick it up to take with her. Pokerface ends up taking her and her stuffed gorilla on the baht bus back to the hotel with him. I can only imagine the face on the person at the front desk. I bet she thought she had already seen it all. We all ended up asking Pokerface whether he was at all self-conscious about fucking a girl with the huge stuffed gorilla looking on. Somehow, it just feels wrong and decadent to me. The ASPCA and the WWF would not have approved!!

Peppermint a go go- Owned by same group as Happy which is why they are allowed to go topless so much and do not have waitress'. I dont like having waiters because many are gay and wont leave me alone. THey are also more aggresive than waitress' for pimpin' drinks.

Superbaby- I am completely shocked you didn't see died hair and tatoos. I rarely see girls working their without tatoos or died hair unless they just started working there and dont have a THai boyfriend yet. This bar has hotties but almost all of them have local THai dirtbag boyfriends who dont want them doing LT with the superior Americans or Aussies. They dont mind their girlfriends being hookers as long as they come back to them to give them money and bareback sex before sunrise. Disgusts me to no end and I try to lecture these girls(in Thai) but they never listen until they get pregnant and the THai guy is nowhere to be found. These girls are also used to ST because that's what the Japanese and Chinese customers like.

Why Thai guys are not allowed in go go bars? Because then the girls boyfriends could sneak in and that would cause bigtime problems. The local guys are known for getting drunk and fighting due to jealousy of us farang. They dont understand their girlfriends job until they go to the go go bar. When they see how their girlfriends are when the cat's away...they dont like it...especially when a farang is pawing on their bank account and paying their barfine. This is a good policy and prevents violence from guys that completely suffer from Napoleans Complex. They should have this policy in the Philippines as well.

A SuperGirl dancer I've known for some time now always tells me that there is tremendous pressure for the girls to turn several STs each night. Even she refrains from LT with me.

Ok, I loved the gorilla story. The image it conjured of a farang riding on a baht bus with an Issan spinner clutching a stuffed gorilla taller than she was had me blowing spray on my monitor, I was laughing so hard.
