5-11-03: 7am finally arrived, I took a taxi to the World Trade Center ferry terminal, got the 8:30am ferry to Batam's Batu Ampar terminal (closed now?), negotiated the very aggressive taxi touts at the terminal, and checked into Hotel 2000 around 10am.
I stayed in Melia Hotel my first trip to Batam, but after a few days moved to the less expensive Hotel 2000. Smaller, friendlier, brand new in 2000, it is now my first choice in Batam. But time has not been kind to Hotel2000. After just three years, wear and tear was showing.
