OK, here’s the scoop on Burma (a.k.a. Myanmar). There’s sanuking there, but I didn’t find any (at least not on this first trip). I didn't try too hard, mind you, I was just interested in seeing the country.

Should you go to Burma? By all means! It’s a terrific place. The people are friendly, the food is good, the guys wear skirts, there’s fabulous scenery, the women wear strange makeup – this place has everything for a good vacation.

I won’t be a guidebook here, if you guys have specific questions, ask away. The only real advice is Bring money. By that I mean you can’t get any money once you’re there. No ATM’s, no credit card cash advances, no bank transfers. You can, if you so desire, use travelers’ cheques, but you will pay about 20% commission.

The only time I made any real attempt at sanuking was in Mandalay. Two taxi drivers gave me the same address. It turned out to be the one big fancy hotel in town. I also learned that the girls expect about $100 for their effort. A hundred bucks is serious money in Mandalay! Given the fact that I only entered the country with a couple grand, I was not about to blow it on an iffy chick (besides, I’d already ticked a Burmese off my life list). No, I'd save my load for the Thai girls.

There are babes in Burma, believe me, just as there are babes everywhere in the world (with the possible exception of Alaska). However, it’s not a sanuking destination (with one notable exception you’ll see later).

The girls of Myanmar (say, wouldn’t that make an interesting issue of Playboy) are not all Burmese. There are actually numerous “breeds” in the county, each with their own look. The Burmese tend to be round of face. They also tend to … um, not have too much hair, if you get my meaning.
