One month in Brazil
Report on my trip, May 2002, in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Vitoria and Salvador.
Prices quoted in Brazilian Real (in short : R$), 1 Euro = 2.20 Real (1 Usd = 2.50 Real).
Tip : try to learn some Portuguese before travelling (I used Teach yourself Brazilian Portuguese by Sue Tyson-Ward with two audio cassettes).
Sao Paulo is one of the biggest cities in the world. There are night clubs with shows in many areas, you can find an address near to you in tourist leaflets. I stayed near Praça da Republica (centro) so I went to Kilt, rua Nestor Pestana 266. Entry 30 R$ (with one drink), beer or caipirinha 15 R$. Nice girls, shows, even some naked shows, starts at about 10:30-11:00 pm. No rooms, you can negotiate a private strip upstairs in a boot. You may take a girl out to your hotel or a motel for a few hours (they say Brazilian motels are luxury love cocoons, to try absolutely). It's 30 R$ barfine, and I was quoted 200 R$ for the girl.
I do travel for 4 months a year, so I tend to be careful with money, so I went a bit further to rua Augusta, still at walking distance from praça da Republica. There, a cluster of cheaper clubs, with rooms.
I tried Night Hause, entry 7 R$ with one drink, chatted with a girl, nice body, then went to a room with shower, 20 R$ for the room and 50 R$ for the girl. Covered BJ + sex, very nice and friendly.
Another day I went to Estoril, but was dirty and uninteresting, so I went to Caribe, on a side street.
Met a thin young brunette, that proposed a private strip for 20 R$. We went to a corner (not many customers at that hour) and she danced two songs over me, ending up naked and letting me touch her.
I enjoyed it so much and was so aroused that I had to take her to a room (15 R$ for the room and 60 R$ for the girl). Tip : If a girl asks for an energetico (Red Bull like), it'll cost 20 R$.
Those places are usually open in the afternoon, but dance shows start after midnight.
In Rio I have a "girlfriend" from a previous trip, a very sweet black girl, she stayed 4 days with me (visiting around, going to beach, to concerts, dining out etc). I gave her 400 R$ at the end.
In Copacabana the hotel Toledo wouldn't let my friend in, (they made me rent a single for her) so I moved to the Debret (20 m from the Help disco), but I find it expensive. Well, Copacabana is expensive, girls included.
Belo Horizonte, in Minas Gerais, is not a touristic place, but I enjoyed it. Many cute old mining colonial cities to visit nearby.
I went to Doll House, far from the center in Buritis, avenida Chiaradia, nice place, swimming pool, sauna, rooms. Some nice girls, especially a brunette making an "indian"show, very sexy.
Entry 30 R$, Room 39 or 49 R$, girl 150 R$ (negotiable I guess). You pay half price (for everything) before 8 pm.
On saturday night it swing night, but you can hire a lady on the premises, so you have something to swap if your wife is not travelling with you.
On the local newspaper you'll find a lot of cheaper places under "accompanhantes" or "relax", I can't remember. Most are located south west of the rodoviaria, the bus station.
I tried Aruba, rua Brito Melo 60, went with a black girl in a nice room with good clean shower, 60 R$ all inclusive, plus 3 for a beer. Nice experience.
In the Savassi area I had a couple of caipirinhas at the Crystal, rua Rio Grande do Norte 1470. Very beautiful girls, nice dancing, high prices (Entry 30 R$, barfine 29 R$, was quoted more than 200 R$ for girl, so I left), no rooms. Most of the action is on weekdays, on weekends Brazilian husbands tend to stay with family...
In Vitoria I went to watch a friend's friend performing a strip show, very far from the center, can't remember where. I came back home with a dancer, a young mulata sooo beautiful, for 100 R$ (and 10 for the barfine). In the morning she asked more for the taxi, I gave her 15 R$. It happend already (in Thailand) : when a girl is really beautiful she is also less active and willing to please. But it was worth anyway to have such a beautiful person in my hands for a few hours.
In Salvador de Bahia I had the flu, stayed quiet, but nevertheless got lots of proposition and stares. Many free-lance roam the Pelourinho, streets, bars and the small squares were they held concerts.
Price should not exceed 50 R$.
In Barra try the small internet cafe at Praia do Porto.
They say Casquinha de Siri is also a slightly upscale meeting point, at other end of Barra on praia do Farol but I haven't been there.
Bear in mind that Brazil is socially very unfair. Minimum salary is 200 R$, and millions don't even get that. A policeman, a teacher get 300 R$ amonth. On the other hand, a very small percentage is very wealthy, and can afford all the luxury goods (beautiful shopping centers in every city) at the same prices as in Europe.
