Prostitution: There is some confusion as to how legal prostitution is in Brazil. Sex Motels: You may not wish to take a new acquaintance, prostitute, or trick back to your hotel room. Rio de Janeiro is full of sex motels which provide rooms on an hourly basis for a reasonable rate. The use of such hotels is a common practice here. This is the gay beach in Ipanema. Not only will you have a great time ogling the guys and girls, you can use your international body language to get some close-up attention.
Garota de Ipanema Park (between Ipanema Beach and Copacabana Beach)
This park lies between the two beaches and has a hill that not only gives you a lovely view of Ipanema but may also give you a view of much more. Take a walk and check it out. Also popular is the large rock formation which separates Ipanema and Arpoador Beach.
Aterro de Flamengo (the large park across from Flamengo Beach)
You take your chances at night but this is a well known cruising area. Walk along the sidewalks and enjoy the view.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL -- Hi guys. This month I’m reporting to you from Rio, where I’m on vacation.


In addition to the delights of sun, surf, and Samba, the pleasures of Brazilian men make a trip to Rio ‘gostoso’ (a Brazilian word that translates to delicious, but has a very sexual connotation).

How can I convey what such a different place is like? Brazilian society is amazingly free and easy. Brazil’s Portugese history and long distance from everywhere, has allowed the development of a unique culture, very different than any place else, including their attitude towards homosexuality. Sitting in a sidewalk café frequented by gays, it is interesting to note the obvious pleasure many straight men take in being openly admired by gay guys. My Rio friend Jim, interpreted the thought process involved in this as being something like “I’m so hot even men desire me”, a truly liberated mind set.


The beach is the center of life in Rio, with the Speedo being the look of choice. So there is a wonderful stripping away of social boundaries, as it becomes impossible to diserne the boy from the slums from the jet setter, with everyone close to naked. The body becomes the main factor in who is who, and Brazilians take body culture very seriously. I have never seen so many six-pack abs as on the beaches of Rio. As well the men range through every skin tone and look imaginable. Finally, I swear to you that every guy in Brazil seems to be endowed with a big dick, that he likes to keep at least half hard at all times by constantly rubbing and adjusting it through his clothing.


Now that I have you interested in visiting Rio, let me give you some tips about ‘cruising for sex’ while there.


First there is the Beach. Rio’s two main beaches are Copacabana and Impanema, and each has a gay section, normally marked by a rainbow flag flying over the appropriate area. The Copacabana gay beach has more cruising and is roughly across from the Copacabana Palace Hotel (the biggest hotel on the beach). Head out onto the sand and rent a chair from a vendor, order a beer from him, and settle in to take in the scene. If you are looking, there will soon be guys looking back. Not very many Brazilians speak much English, but it’s amazing how much you can communicate by the look in your eye, and the universal cruising techniques.


After the beach, the place to be is the large sidewalk café Maxim’s, just across from the gay beach. Grab a table and order a ‘chope’ (draft beer). The place is mixed, with the most gay times being after the beach from about 4:00-7:00 PM, and then after 11:00 PM till late. The regulars will immediately know you are new meat, and if you are cruising they will respond. The small men’s toilet inside is a hive of activity as guys from separate tables coordinate their visits to grab an opportunity to check out the goods and make contact. Some of these cute guys are hustlers, and are therefore immediately available; others are simply Brazilians out for a good time. There is a big hustler scene in Rio, and a friend of mine from LA has been seeing two a day all week, with the going rate being 50 Real, about $35.00, (the Brazilian Currency is about 1.5 to the dollar).


I’m especially excited to tell you that I’ve done something on this trip that I have never had the opportunity to do anywhere before (and that’s saying a lot). I visited a gay brothel, and it was an amazing experience. It’s one of the few sexual options I’ve always considered to be the domain of straight men, and it has always held a certain fascination for me. ‘Estacao’ (The Station) is located at 217 Rua Tonelero, in Copacabana, www.netgay.com.br/jornal/estacao.htm. Let me describe the experience. The set up is basically a bath, with a small bar and restaurant included. Once you pay a small entrance fee of 15 Real, you are directed to the locker room where an attendant assigns you a locker and gives you a towel. Walking in to the main area was amazing, as it was occupied by about forty hot, towel clad, Brazilian men of every variety. When I entered, every one of them turned to me with an eager look. A bit overwhelmed I went to the bar and ordered a beer. As I sat at the bar sipping my drink, a parade of guys came by to show me their wares in a very friendly and flirtatious way. Some would just stroll by with a nod and a smile. Some would lift their towel to display magnificent cocks ranging from soft to hard. Some would stop to make small talk (very limited as most do not speak English). One short black guy showed me a cock that was the largest I’d ever seen and invited me to touch it.


After finishing my drink I checked out the rest of the place, which included, a small theater showing excellent Brazilian porn, a big steam room and sauna, three shower areas and an upper floor of rooms. Having got the lay of the land, I was ready to get laid, so I went back to the main lounge, and tried to make up my mind. A beautiful man caught my eye; dark completion, gleaming smile, broad shoulders, six-pack abs, a very health bulge under his towel, and a bubble butt that made my mouth water. I smiled and nodded at him, and he came over to me. As he stood close I could feel the sexuality radiating from him as he made his pitch in a couple of words of English and his hand on my crotch. When I nodded yes, he went and got a key to a room, and lube and condoms. He led me upstairs to a simple room with a bed, a mirror wall, and a TV playing porn. To give you all the details would take more space than I’m allowed here, but let me just say he was great, and showed me an excellent time. Afterwards I paid him the standard rate of 50 Reals, and on check out paid an additional 30 Reals for the room and accessories. The whole process was about $60 dollars, and well worth it, and I’d highly recommend that you try this rare experience.


Rio has all kinds of Bars and Clubs from ‘La Cueva’ for Bears, to ‘Le Boy’ for buff boys and they are all very cruisy with sex is in the air. There are lots of Baths, catering to different groups from tourists, to locals, to mixed crowds, and a really busy movie theatre scene that attracts lots of the local guys. A search on Yahoo! for ‘gay’ and ‘Rio’ will give you all that info.


Now that you’re ready to go to Rio, let me recommend one thing that will make your life easier. Accommodations can be a problem, as many hotels do not let you bring guests in, especially major chain hotels. So it is important to get into the right hotel or to opt to rent an apartment. I used Mario from Rio Pride Tours, (riopridetour@hotmail.com) a small company specializing in gay accommodations, and ended up in a great apartment right by the gay beach. I can personally recommend this.


I’ve got a great tan, and my ego is a mile high from all the sex with hot men, and the weather is perfect. It will be hard to go home.
