Going to and from Cambodia, I briefly stopped off at LOS to visit my favorite jaunts. Obviously, the previously rumours of early closing never happened, the go-gos and bars were still open to 2am each night. A lot of Mongers and girls this trip, and I finally had the pleasure of meeting up with Porker for a few hours to visit Angels disco. Porker is a great guy to hang out with and I hope our paths will cross again sometime soon.
Here are some pics of a freelancer from Angel's disco (Nana Hotel).

Here are some additional pics of Khong from Rainbow 1 who I hook up with each trip.

Merl, I'm curious. What countries would you rate the highest now since you got to take a little taste of all of them just recently. If it's too hard to call, I completely understand.

Hey, Soc., like WS, I'm into the total package deal and the experience itself. I'm also a sucker for beauties. If it was must raw sex and numbers, I would rank Cambodia first, but LOS has everything that I desire in a vacation--beautiful women, lots of women, infrastructure, safety, extracurricular, low costs, exotic views, etc. Convenience is also a factor, but not terribly high if the "fish are really biting" at a fishing hole. Here is my most recent list of priority destinations:
1. Pattaya, 2. BKK, 3. Cambodia, 4. Macau, 5. Cali, 6. RIO, 7. Hong Kong, 8. AC, 9. Indonesia, 10. Singapore, 11. MANILA, 12. Costa Rica, 13. Seoul, 14. TJ Mexico 15. Panama
As for me, the most potent and irresistable trifecta is combining the #1,#2,#3.
Other Areas to checkout: Medellin, China, Sao Paulo, Russia, Europe, India.

I would rank Cambodia over BKK.....BKK does have excellent shopping opportunities but the sex scene there is now limited to Nana Plaza, some overpriced soapies and a few in Patpong. The traffic and pollution in BKK make it unbearable at times. Cambodia has some problems with safety but the girls are adorable and the venues a blast. Nothing beats Pattaya.
BTW, Khong is very, very, very sexy and hot and the Batam girl is smokin' too....good thing we don't monger together because we would be fighting over the same girls.

LOL Blazers, I always knew we had similar tastes in girls (except for the Chinese), but the guys that have met me will tell you that I would nobly defer to you re: girls (maybe the first time). Especially since there are, and were this trip, way too many lookers all over the place.
For me, Cambodia is neck and neck with BKK. The only reason BKK has a slight advantage is the soapy massage and the always predictable "superstar" to floor you with their beauty. Also, it's easier to get to BKK, whereas Cambodia requires another plane trip (avg. $240), visa costs, picture, and strategic bribing of officials here and there. This trip, the traffic in BKK (cars AND PUNTERS at NANA) was really heavy. At least in Pattaya, the traffic seems somewhat managed and you don't get that congested feeling.

Thanks for putting that list together. It helps put things into perspective as I'm into the entire package as well.

Merlin, Cambodia has been my top destination in the world for years and still is my number 1 destination in Asia. Right now I am hooked on Colombia but I think sooner or later I will realize that Cambodia is still number 1 on my list not becuase the quantity of the girls but also the quality, price, and total experience. Even though not too many people speak English in Cambodia but it is stil a lot better than Cali and I can always communicate with girls. Also, you are very clear why you are there for and that is p4p action and not running after non-pros. Again, great report Merlin.

I still live in Bangkok, although i am moving to pattaya after my two month stint in america is finished. I have been all over thailand, north to south, as well as cambodia, and for the expat traveller pattaya is not to be beat. Taking in the whole picture it has it all, although, living in thailand the expat community is much stronger in bangkok, at least where i am concerned. The trappings of pattaya are renowned, and strength of will is a must. Prices can't be beat there, the number of beauties in astranomical, and the location supurb.....cept all my buddies are in bangkok. Guess they'll have to learn to ride that 90 baht bus to the Pat....lol. Bangkok is wearing thin, unfortunately. The girls are getting short-sighted, and a little mean spririted, but, in the long run, its far better than sitting in the states putting up with white pig attitude. Nuff said...cheers.

Jkarp, I found it really very difficult to get the GFE in Cambodia due to the language factor, even though there are a few girls there now that I always see when I go. I love CALI and still have that special novia, but I think I'll have to try out MDE and Cartegna.
Ironman: I always thought that there would be a larger and stronger expat community in Pattaya. My dream is to one day retire (in 20 yrs or so) and make it a base to explore other venues. You should post more often as your perspectives from LOS will be very helpful to us all.

The expat community in Pattaya is largely German.
Brit, US, and Aussie expats tend to huddle up in BKK.

Merlin, Ironman and anyone who has a perpective on this, I am planning to visit Bangkok,Pattaya and Phuket in Aug/Sep and wanted to document my trip with video footage. Can you give me your thoughts on this. Specifically, if I have video footage of naked girls (no sex just naked girls), could I get in trouble with the law? Would this be considered porn? Any suggestions on how to stay out of trouble and avoid any customs issues?
By the way, I appreciate your insight on best cities. Thanks in advance for any advice guys.

Snake11, not to be flippant but "everything is legal until you get caught" :-) I emailed you.

Merl,
Excellent report as usual. Man, you put up some serious numbers! To hear you and Blazers both rank Cambodia so high - that's saying something.
But is it really the total package like Bangkok? I can't imagine their food is as good, I've never read a glowing review of a hotel (For me, I need more than "clean and air-con works") and to me hotel and food are two major components of a trip.
I think you're letting the $5 Viet girls with incredible BBBJ skills influence your "total package" rankings!

Oh, and by the way, a guy who doesn't post but who I exchange emails with just came back from Shanghai - Hong Kong - BKK. His company has an office in Shanghai and he was VERY disappointed in the scene. Average girls asking for $US200 for short time. I guess it's a sellers market.
He did a few 1-4-1s and then couldn't wait to get to Bangkok (his 2nd trip).
So Shanghai might not be the best destination in China. I've always wanted to check out Hainan Island in China, but I read on other boards the girls are all gone and the Island has become a "family" vacation resort.
With over 1 billion Chinese, there's gotta be a good scene somewhere!

LOL WS: $5 and unlimited three-somes definitely clouds one's mind. Actually, Cambodia can turn into a "package deal" so long as you go to Siem Reap or Sihaunokeville. Sihanoukeville has stunning scenery with incredible, uninhabited beaches and Siem Reap of course has the glorious Angkor Wat ruins with lots of beautiful foresty areas. I think you'll like Siem Reap or S-ville, and the p4p scene there isn't all that bad. I encourage everyone to visit before it turns into a Disneyland.
Maybe the other Cambodia visitors can confirm this, but I actually like Khmer food alot and thought it was quite good and very cheap (<$1). It's kind of a cross between Thai food and Chinese food, with some French influence. Moreover, there is very good Western food at Sharkeys, Martinis, the river front area, and other Western oriented bars. In fact, even the famous Home-Away-From-Home cafe in Svay Pak has great food.
As for hotels, I tried the Paris hotel for one day this time and went back to the Hawaii. The Paris is nice and clean, but it's kind of out of the way and the walls were kind of thin and I had a messed up Aussie next door. When I went back to the Hawaii hotel, they gave me a huge, party room in the corner of the hotel with 2 big beds for $40.00. I turned into quite the bachelor pad, but it's by no means a 4 or 5 star hotel. Don't get me wrong, there are many 4 & 5 star hotels in Phnom Penh and some incredible upscale places in Siem Reap as well as in all the major cities. For the location, price and service, Hawaii Hotel will be my permanent hotel.
As for the people and the culture, be prepared for a language and culture that is mesmerizingly unique and beautiful. Their traditional music and dance, as I noted, is hauntingly beautiful and their written language looks like a high caligraphy or art form. The Khmer people have a tinge of Indian ancestry so they actually have an exotic and beautiful look to them. Their friendliness, humbleness, and receptiveness will surprise you.
All in all, I've confirmed for myself that my ideal vacation is to combine LOS & Cambodia.
Maybe I'll post some selective shots of Cambodia's scenery to give you an idea of how pretty some areas can be.

WS: as for Shanghai, I heard the same negatives. I just don't understand why it gets so expensive in some places in mainland China. When I was in Cambodia, one ex-pat told me about some border towns (Vietnam-China) that has cheap p4p and pretty girls. I've got to do some more research on this. I'm certain there must be cheaper options in China away from the touristy, big cities.

Merlin,
Is that restaurant at Svay Pak really called "Home Away From Home?" Good name if it is. I only drank beer there, but the food I saw Mr. Wee order looked delicious and I know it was fresh.
Did you go to Sville on this trip?
By Merlin on Thursday, July 15, 2004 - 12:51 pm: Edit |
Yes Gregorio that's the name of the restaurant and their grilled sandwiches and spagetti and beef stroganoff are very good.
I originally planned on hitting Sville this trip, but couldn't go this trip b/c I spent too much time in Batam.
