I visited a number of other clubs while in San Jose, and most were a disappointment. I started out mongering along the border towns of Mexico, but I’ve settled on regular visits to Monterrey Mexico due to the relatively close proximity of Mexico to the Midwest, and because of business interests that permit me to formulate an excuse to visit there. So, most of my evaluations are based upon comparisons with Monterrey Mexico where I am a frequent and seasoned monger.

I am starting to wonder if because of my experience in Monterrey, where the strip clubs are really quite good and relatively cheap compared to San Jose, I am starting to become somewhat spoiled. But, generally speaking I thought the strip clubs in San Jose where extremely, extremely, expensive.

The cost of a salida for the girls is out of sight in San Jose. It costs at least a minimum of $200, and it can be as high as $315, and then you must generally pay something extra in the form of a tip to the girl in addition to the salida. The salida doesn’t generally cover “todo la noche” either. It’s usually only for a couple of hours.

If the girl stays longer, as was the case with my girl from Josephine’s, she can get in trouble with the club for not coming back to work on schedule. Plus, if you want to get to know the girl before you decide whether she is worth a salida, and only Shakira would probably justify paying the price of these salidas, then you must spend a relatively high amount in drinks to spend the time to converse sufficiently with your sweetheart in order to make a decision about whether she is worthy of those kinds of expenditures.

Drinks are a minimum of $15 for you, and sometimes they give you three drinks for that amount, or they don’t charge a cover charge. But, some of these places have the guts to charge a cover charge and to demand a $15 dollar minimum in drink purchases.

Drinks for the girls are generally astronomically high in price. The girl’s drinks are generally at least $20 each. I could live with a $20 full size beer, except that a $20 beer would also be an astronomically high price, but at least it may take her a while to drink it. But, for $20 they bring the girl a small itsy bitsy glass of wine, or a watered down mixed drink. They can drink that in no time whatsoever. Pathetic…really! Compared to Monterrey, the strip clubs in San Jose are an absolute joke.

However there was one exception to the rule, and that exception was D’Pelufos strip club, which is located outside of San Jose. If you’re staying in San Jose at the Presidente or the Del Ray, you will have to take a cab ride for about 15 minutes to get there. I think it was North of San Jose in San Pedro. I’m not sure of the exact directions to the club, but they are available on the boards. I just took a Taxi, and the driver knew where it was located, so I didn’t have to spell it out to him.

When you arrive at the door, you will be checked for weapons using a wand. So, don’t bring you machine gun, your Glock, your brass knuckles, knives, etc…I arrived very early and I had to wait about 10 minutes just to get through the security checkpoint. So, if you arrive close to the starting time for the show, you may get delayed significantly in trying to get through the security checkpoint. This seemed like a very safe bar to be in, and it is in a safe part of town. I think they complete all the security precautions just as a routine practice simply because there are so many guys there when the show starts, and I guess they know guys will be drinking a lot, so they want to avoid any potential violence that might occur due to alcohol. But, the place seems really very safe, and I was totally comfortable the entire time I was there.

The show doesn’t start until at least 10:30pm, so don’t even bother to show up too early unless you want to reserve a good seat and get through the security checkpoint without too much delay. It is very important to reserve a good seat, because the club is not too comfortable. There are not many chairs to sit on, and most of the guys who show up are required to stand, or to sit on benches around the periphery of a stage area. In addition, the chairs that are available, which are situated only around a few tables near one of the stages, are merely plastic lawn chairs.

This is not a cushy club like Josephine’s or Elite. If you are a Gringo, you may be the only Gringo in the place. But, that having been said, I was perfectly comfortable, and I was actually befriended by a local Tico that was sitting next to my table, and he treated me like a part of his group. He spoke perfect English very well, and was an excellent companion because he would explain what the girls were going to do, etc…

My Tico friend was a professional Engineer, and many of the Ticos that were in the place were dressed business casual with a few guys in ties. So, I assume it is relatively upscale in clientele, but the club isn’t really too expensive, nor does the club have an upscale image. So, I assume that the local Ticos know they can go there to have a good time, to see some really raunchy shows with some really good looking girls and it won’t cost them an arm and a leg to be there.

I was both fortunate and unfortunate when I visited there because I showed up very early, about 9:30pm, and because I was early, and an obvious Gringo, I received the personal attention of the owner of the club, Eric. Eric is a very gracious host and spent a lot of time talking with me and making me comfortable. Because I was early, he urged me to sit at one of the tables where I would have a good view of the stage. He took very good care of me, and if he knows you are there, you are a Gringo, and you show up early, I would expect that you would probably receive the same treatment I did. At 9:30pm there is almost nobody in the place, and nothing, I mean nothing is happening. There aren’t but a few girls, and you only get glimpses of them as they run around the establishment getting ready and tending to whatever bar girls tend to. So, if you show up an hour early, you will just have sit patiently at your table until things start to jump.

I say that I was also unfortunate when I visited there because I was only able to stay until about 11:15pm that evening. I had arranged a date that night with one of my girlfriends. So, I know I missed a lot of fun because I wasn’t able to stay for all of the show. If the rest of the show is anything like what I saw for the first 45 minutes, this place has a lot of promise, and I highly recommend it.

I don’t remember the drink prices exactly, but I think they were reasonable. You pay a cover charge upon entry, which may be relatively high ($10-$20 perhaps-I don’t remember exactly), but it is worth it because I think you get two drinks with the cost of the cover, and the show is worth the cover charge alone.

I don’t drink alcohol, and I am usually ordering Coke Light, so I don’t know what the cost of beer is, and in this case, I didn’t stay long enough to order more than the two diet cokes I was entitled to. But, I don’t think drink prices were too bad. The place was absolutely packed with Ticos by 10:30pm, and the drinks were flowing. You don’t see that kind of crowd in Josephine’s or Elite, so I assume the drinks were reasonable or the Ticos wouldn’t be there.

By the time the show starts you can only see one of the stages because there are so many Ticos in the place that there is standing room only and when you are seated, you just can’t see over the crowd to view the other stage. There is also a bench area around the periphery of the other stage, but I would imagine that if you are seated on the bench area, with the standing crowd in front of you between the stage and your bench, you would have a hard time seeing if you continued to remain seated yourself. Get there early…you won’t regret it.

The show starts off like any strip club. The girl comes out onto stage as the music is playing, and she proceeds to dance, and seductively remove her clothing just like any other strip club you have ever been in. I noticed that the girls were all a little better looking than you would expect in a club like this. They were all very clean girls, and very good looking. They were the same caliber as the girls at Josephine’s or Elite, maybe even a few of them were comparatively better looking than the majority of girls at clubs in San Jose.

But, here is the unbelievable thing. As this girl is dancing she slides up to the end of the stage, and offers here pussy to sample, and if you are sitting in close proximity, or even if you come out of the crowd, you can eat her out right there. Of course, usually it was only one guy per girl electing to do it because no guy wants sloppy seconds, but it was guys in the audience who participated, and not set-ups.

I had seen a show earlier in the week over at Casablanca one night when I was spending time in the club with my girlfriend, and they had brought a guy up on stage, stripped him completely, and done a show with him. But, he never ate a girl out on stage or anything. Then, later, I noticed the guy hanging around near the bar around closing time. I think he was merely a setup, and he was waiting to get paid. I forgot to ask my girlfriend about it, but I’m sure it was all just a show with a paid set up between the club and guy.

But, that does not seem like it is that way at D’Pelufos. My Tico friend indicated that it is all legitimate, and that the guys are just guys from the audience. I think he indicated that he had known some friends that had been on stage with girls in the past, and it was not a setup.

I wasn’t able to stay too long that night, but I saw one guy eat at least two girls that night. This guy was no setup either. He was just sitting at a table along side the bar, and he was in a good position. So, he dined well that night on at least three girls. I think the girls would have let anybody in on the feast if you were interested in sampling them. Of course, I am kind of grossed out by the thought of following somebody else’s act, so I stayed put in my chair. But, these girls were clean and beautiful, and they would have tasted really sweet.

I think I may have seen about five girls dance before I had to leave, and all of them did really raunchy dance routines that were very, very, erotic and raunchy…more so than your typical dance routine in a place like Josephine’s or Elite. These were all very good-looking girls too. But, not all of them offered themselves up for the taste test, but I think I saw at least two girls do that same pussy eating routine.

In addition, they have guys come up on the stage and they do all kinds of things to them. I only stayed long enough to see one guy brought up on stage, but they were stripping him down completely and doing all kinds of things to him. I also saw a lesbian show between two girls and they were eating eat other out on stage.

I assume the show was more of the same kind of stuff the rest of the night, maybe even better. Afterall, I was only there for the first 45 minutes, and from what I saw, I would definitely return to see the remainder of the show. Unfortunately, I never made it back there due to time constraints, but I have to assume that perhaps they save the best performances for the last half hour or so just so they can get guys to hang around and keep buying drinks.

D’Pelufos…a very good time. More of my review of San Jose to follow…

I hope you realize that when you talk about what great girlfriend experiences you had, you are reporting that the girls did a great job pretending to be your girlfriend.

I lived in San Jose for a year which, of course, gave me more time to explore everything available. I never paid strip club prices but from what you described, you definately got your money's worth.

Since I was shopping about 6 days a week, I got to know the Tico brotherals quite well. There you get great sex for a short time but you don't have the lady pretend to be yoru girlfriend.

When I wanted company, I'd go to the Del Rey. I'm fluent in Spanish and lots of ladies would want to meet me. Normally, I'd get laid at one of my forvorite spots and then drink at the Del Rey. If I met someone who was really seductive, I'd make a date to meet her another day. Lots of these ladies (the better ones) have personal lives, kids and some even have jobs. So I'd find a time when she was available for all night, arrange for a baby sitter and make detailed plans. (Activies besides sex that she wanted to do).

I personally love Costa Rica because I think the women are sweet as well as GREAT in bed. Many just love sex. Their job requires them to be good at pretending to be your girlfriend. Almost all of them would trade their life for one steady customer (a sugar daddy). Sonme are legitamitely looking for a normal relationship but the amount of money they earn corrupts them.

The ladies you describe earn ten times what an average Tica who works in a store earns and are looking for a man who will not reduce their income or lifestyle. So enjoy the GFE but remember, you're with a lady who really does a good job and is well paid for it.

Actually, I know what you mean about the girls being good actresses, and yes, when I refer to the girls as my "girlfriends," I am being realistic about the true nature of the relationship.

However, I don't think the girls are "acting" in the sense that they are "faking" their affectionate behavior toward me. I know the girls are enjoying my company, and that they have emotiional feelings for me while they are with me.

Many times their emotional attachment lingers long after I am gone, and is expressed in their email to me. I would describe their behavior toward me as being similar to that of a "crush," and that their behaviors seem to have an element of sentimentalism attached to them.

They long for a true BFE just as we seek the GFE. If they find their true BFE, why would their affections for us be any less valid than our feelings for girls that we have had a true GFE with.

I think they consider me their boyfriend while they are with me, and they have feelings that are consistent with that role. Some would call it an act, but I think my girlfriends genuinely like me a lot, and their affections are not "fake" in any way.

Of course, I realize that to regard them as permanent girlfriends is an unrealistic expectation on my part, and to imagine that they are expecting a permenant relationship with me is not an accurate interpretation of their exhibited behavior toward me. I do not expect or desire that our brief meeting will develop into a conventional boyfriend/girlfriend relationship.

However, the fact that they are professionals does not make them women any less. So, I do not subscribe to the idea that just because they are professionals, they can not feel love, emotional, or physical attraction for us any less than some of us feel love, emotion, or physical attraction toward the girls we feel GFE's with.

Most of the girls I see are actually quite lonely, and they love a great GFE/BFE as much as we do. Is that an act? IMHO, I don't think it is an act, not on our part, and not on their part either.

Just because I am using the word "girlfriend" to describe the girls I have had good GFE's with doesn't mean that I am under any illusions about the true nature of the relationship.
