Salvador is a great untapped playground for mongers with lots of potential for the adventurous. There are no Rio-style termas except gay termas, and info is harder to come by. I've been planning since my trip last March to post a report, but havent found the time. In lieu of a more detailed account, heres a quick and dirty guide to Salvador for mongers. A more detailed report MAY be forthcoming.

PICKUP PLACES:

Casquinha de Siri in Piata - Any cab driver can find this place - it's very popular. Monday nite is the time to go, when they tend to have big name music groups, and the garotas turn out in large numbers. On Wed night pickings were slim, although I did score there. She asked for $R150 for short time or all night. I would have tried to bargain, but she appeared to be the only available girl in the place, and I was "hungry."

Aeroclube Plaza Show, a shopping mall on Av Otavio Mangabeira between Armacao and Boca Do Rio - several places inside to meet local girls - Rock in Rio, Cancun, and the "Plaza Show" a stage and dance floor in the courtyard of the mall. Friday thru Sunday nites live music and hundreds of girls in late teens to early 20s. Also some working girls mixed in the crowd. Be sure to note the difference.

Bamba Ra - dance club One block N of Av Mangabeira on the westbound road (I forget the name) near Pituba. Reputed to be a good place to meet "regular" girls. Some regular girls I met turned their noses up at the mention of it and referred to it as having a "bad reputation," i.e. for garotas da programma.

Fashion Show, French Quartier and the Colegio Integral all located in the same strip mall One block N of Mangabeira a couple of blocks West of Bamba Ra. Fashion Show is a disco that features Forro and pagode and is supposed to be a hangout of locals, with lots of normal girls. French Quartier is a jazz club, mostly boomer aged crowd - good music but not much pickup potential noted. The college has tons of coeds who party in the parking lot on week nights after 8 PM.

AGENCIES:

www.sexomais.com I had pretty good result with this one once. Girls listed here are all independants. Site is not really an agency, just an advertising service for girls, whose own phone numnbers are listed with pics and descriptions of vital stats and services performed. Prices vary from girl to girl, range is $R150 to $R300 for 2 hour minimum.

BOATES:

I didnt try these, but got reports from several cab drivers, which were pretty consistent. Most are rather expensive, especially for Salvador.

Tche – Avenida Amaralina approx 1 mile W of Free Night; reputed to be mostly local men, very cheap with low talent girls.

Eros -on Av Otavio Mangabeira ½ mile NE of Free Night

Free Night (pronounced free night-che) on Ave Otavio Mangabeira 3 blocks NE of Quiosque Baiana Acaraje on the opposite side of road - you might want to sample some acaraje here before heading to Free Night. Reputed to have better looking girls than Eros or Tche. According to the Provincia article, chopps are $R7.

VIP - across the street from Aeroclube Plaza
Cabbies claim it has the best looking girls. All of these boates have cover charges, rather expensive drinks, except for Tche, and bar fines to take the girls home, Im told.

"MOTELS":

Le Plaisir – behind Bamba Ra on Rua Coronel Durval Matos $R50 for 3 hrs 342-8543, or -5122. Clean, simple accomdations, red-lit bedroom with ample shower and bathroom. Great cheap place for a quickie. I was there less than 3 hours with the girl from Casaquina de Siri, and got a pro-rated refund when I left.

Del Rey – More upscale, Salvador's answer to VIP Motel in Rio. Try the Afrodite Suite with pool, karaoke room, two bedrooms, hot tub and retracting roof for $R155 for 3 hours. $R45 each additional hour. BROTHELS and Independants:

Listed in classifieds in A Tarde - prices range from $R30 to $R300.

I hope this is helful to any one considering a trip to Salvador.

Sattamon, its probably too late now, but the answers to you queries are - I dont know if there is any connection bet sexomais and del rey. I picked it myself based on reviews Id heard. Its sorta Salvodors answer to Rio's VIP.

All charges were deducted from the deposit, and the unspent remainder was refunded. If youre back from Salvador, Id like to read your report. I may be going back for Carnaval

My first few days in Rio where great w/ the exception of terrible weather. In order to fully appreciate the sites & attractions I decided to remain in Rio for my entire trip. By day five the weather cleared and i was able to do some touring and enjoy the beach activities. I'm planning a trip back next year after carnival when i'll definitely hit salvador.

Went to Free Night last night (it wasn't free)--the music was so loud you couldn't talk (or interview). Some hotties available, a bit of a show (girls dancing on a pole, stripping too--mine did a reverse strip to get dressed to leave). R$30 to get in, R$30 to barfine the Baiana you chose.

Going to Salvador for the first week of March. Been to Rio 3 times. I know... after Carneval, (been there done that)... any recent info on the action in Salvador.

I am in Salvador right now. Mangaman´s info is complete and accurate except for Casquinha de Siri in Piata is being remodeled. I was asked for cover charge at Tche before I could even take a look last night - I passed. And Free Night was $30R for entrada for tourist and $40 to take a girl out. Pituba has many hotel that are resonable price. I would stay at those hotel instead of Patamares hotel. buses are the way to go here in Salvador. Lots of them and easy to figure out
