Since the last time in San Salvador checking out the mongering scene I have to say that I have seen an improvement in the quality of chicas and in the city as a whole. Flying out of the east coast there are often great deals on airfare. I myself went to travelocity and checked the option for flexible travel days and found a deal for just over $300. I booked a room at the Intercontinental. I had thought about booking only a couple of days and seeing what other low cost lodging was available in the city or checking out a couple of the places mentioned here on CH but since it was only a 5 day trip I decided to just stick with the Intercontinental for the whole visit. The weather in July is muggy but not as hot as earlier months. They call it their winter during this time. It rained during the evening but for the most part clear during the day. Again, the nice thing about El Salvador is it's the only country in Central America besides Panama where they use the American dollar. You don't have to hassle with exchanging.
