To get to Malapascua is a bit of a journey but well worth the wait. If the weather is stormy, cancel your trip as the boats dont go out to Malapascua. Fly into Cebu. Then walk past the barkers to the meter taxis accross the street and tell the driver you are going to the bus station heading for Maya and off to Malapascua....he will then start begging you to let him take you there and offer a high rate of 1,700 pisos....tell him 1,200 and be firm...make sure he knows the amount and clarify it with him or he will just keep driving and expect 1,700...that typical Filipino bullshit...dont fall for it.
Once you arrive in Maya, you will then jump on one of the Bangka boats with other people and pay 50 pisos each. Dont get on a "special" boat or you will be the only one on it and paying a special price. It takes about 45 minutes to get to Bounty Beach.
I highly recommend staying at Cocobana Beach Resort. It is paradise. The owner is cool, the service superb and you have your own semi-private beach with hammocks and balcony....nobody to fuck with you, no trikes, no scammers, no tshirt salesman. The pics should help. The good thing is that you only pay $23 a night for the beach rooms and can negotiate for less during the low season. Breakfast is included in the room rate. The restaurant will deliver to your balcony or just deliver a mango shake or beer....whatever you want. A lot of nice shells wash up on the beach and the beaches are nice and white. Filipinas hate the sun and I tricked my hko into getting darker by going shell hunting along the beach all day...she was white as a ghost when we left for Cebu and was a nice chocolate color when we got back...she was mad...lol
