Bars
Luckily, AC has lots of bars. I didn’t count but there are a lot. I have been to 90% of the bars in the main drag. I am pretty generous with lady drinks and I have quite a few interesting conversations with the waitresses/bargirls.
Day of the week. I arrived on a Monday and left on Sunday. On Monday/Tuesday, the bars have few customers. I went to Blue Nile on Monday after 3am and the bar has 2 patrons. I am talking about one of the biggest bar on Fields and most of the bars are closed at 3 am. The waitress told me that many girls take Monday/Tuesday off. Don’t know if it’s true. As the week progress, the bars get busier. On Friday/Saturday, I can’t even find seats in a few instances. Some of the bars have so many waitresses and dancers that only half of the seats are available to customers.
English. From internet postings and just my false expectations, I thought every AC girls would speak adequate English. I was surprised that many bar girls can barely communicate. I have to rely on language of love for 2 of my barfines. Might be because my preference is to pick shy, “good” girls. Nonetheless, communication is still much better than Thai girls.
Quota. I heard from waitresses that they have a quota to fill. They have to get 10 ladydrinks a week (in Camelot). I presume they mean getting drinks for either themselves or any dancers. If they kept on missing the quota, they claimed they will be fired. I don’t know if it’s true. I did try to keep the AC economy rolling by buying lady drinks
It will be interesting to know if bargirls have quota for drinks/barfines. One bargirl told me they got paid 120-150 peso per day. Bars Being a tourist, newbie, I preferred the bigger splashy bars like Nero, Misty, Blue Nile, Blue Nile Executive, Las Vegas, Camelot, Agasya, Champagne.
Went to a few perimeter bars in the afternoon. I am surprised how busy they are. However, I didn’t find anyone interesting. Seems to be a neighborhood bar where everyone knows everyone and I don’t feel comfortable. This is early afternoon and the lineup might be much better at night.
Mamasan at Kitten Club is really pushy and annoying. Every 5 minutes, she would ask me to pick a girl. Eventually, I barfine someone from there and she was a dud.
My favorite bar is Agasya. In Korean, Agasya means girl. Most people won’t like the bar because it’s very hard to interact with the girls. The bar gives me a fishbowl feeling as you have to ask the waitress/mamasan to bring any girl over. Barfine is 1500 peso before 11pm and 1200 peso after 11pm. I went there every day but didn’t barfine any girl. The mamasan (young one) and the waitress are a lot of fun. I think the lineup is excellent.
Nudity. On the first day, I went to quite a few bars and all the girls are in bikini. What the fu**? On the web sites, I always see nude bar girls and lesbian shows. What are they???? Eventually, I asked a waitress and she laughed at me.
Overcharge. I got overcharged twice in Misty and once in Blue Nile by around 100 peso. Very annoying but I just pointed out the mistake and it’s corrected. In all cases, I only ordered 2-3 drinks. How the hell can they miscalculate? I can understand if I ordered 10 drinks. I knew there are other instances where I was ripped off and I just didn’t pay enough attention.
Menstruation and cherry. Even tough I am a newbie, I did my research and knew about cherry girl which is pretty unique to PI. My preference is to pick shy, petite girl and I kept on hitting cherries. What can you do with a cherry? Do they blow? Pretty popular with the Japanese and Korean. On my last night, there is a girl I REALLY like in Bunny Ranch. I was about to barfine her but she said “mens”. Even now, I am trying to figure out if she is rejecting me.
X’mas $$. In a few bars (I think 4 bars), they have this big card box which is supposed to be a piggy bank for their X’mas fund. The money is for the girls X’mas party or some shit like that. Make absolutely no sense to me. In these bars (Camelot is one), girls would bring this fucking box to me and asked me to put money into the box. I declined every time and the girls are somewhat pissed. I don’t mind buying ladydrinks but not this crap. If the $$ is for some charity, I WILL donate.
Food
I walked to Angeles Fried Chicken close to Saver’s Mall because of some recommendations from the board. Had the fried chicken and the meat is kind of dry. Not impressed.
Went to Swiss Chalet twice: once for dinner and once for room service. I had pasta for dinner and it was ordinary (Ristorante Verona is better). For the other meal, I had Swiss Breakfast which is very filling and yummy. My girl has the fried chicken with rice which is surprisingly delicious. She finished the whole plate.
Chow King is a restaurant I visited once. I saw them everywhere in Manila. They serve very ordinary Chinese food. Saw a lot of locals and not many tourists.
Fried rice at Krung Thai is very good but their noodles sucks.
Best food I had was Ristorante Verona above Lancelot (mariana dish). Took a girl there once and she love the food. She even emailed me later thanking me for the meal.
Ate at Kokomo a few times because it’s convenient in terms of location and hours. I don’t think the food is too good though. One time after placing my food order, I went to Action Travel for a few minutes. When I returned to my table, there must be 20 flies enjoying my dish.
Also ate at the falafel place (Shwarma Center). Cheap and yummy and quick.
I'm planning to take the Orchid's private car/van, so I can get there without as much delay. Plus, the traffic won't be too bad that time of day--I hope!
