I would like to thank Don Gringo for making the trip report of the year such an easy choice, especially in July. So fellows the pressure is off, save your better stuff for next year.
One of the best trip reports I have ever read.
Outstanding!
Simply outstanding!
Putanero
Absolutely incredible !!! The photos and quality get better with each click. Kudos to the excellent photos.
Great work DanishGod!
I liked the part about the shaving cream. It reminds me of when I was in Beijing, China(strickly a business trip). Interducing things (that we are lucky enough to take for granted) to people of a different society really makes us realize how lucky we are to have been born in the right country.
Overall really great report. You really peaked my interest in Cuba.

Outstanding effort! I suspect that Cuba just moved to the front of a lot of hobbyists wish lists.
Absolutely fantastic work!
Have not read such a detailed and tempting report on Cuba - wow, the chicas are beautiful.
Good work!
Nice report, pretty girls.
DanishGod,
Excellent Report, buddy. Quick question, did you use two cameras - one for video and one for stills? Or just use the still photo capability in the video camera?

I took the pics with the still shot feature on my beat up old digital camcorder. I think they're only around 1/2 megapixel. I gotta spring for some better equipment before my next trip.
Hey - I really enjoyed your Brazil videos. Can't wait till Sept when I'm there
DG
DanishGod,
When you going to be there? I am planning to go back sometime in September. If all goes well we can hook up. Brazil is a place like no other.

GREAT TRIP REPORT
I had just started researching on my own, just a few questions.
Did you happen to explore outside of havanna, like Cienfuegos, or are you saving that trip for another time?
How did your host family react to your bringing a costant supply of girls in? Did they not speak of it or were they understanding.
How much did the casa particulars charge and what would you recommend to bring as gifts?
FB
I didn't leave Havana, but will consider doing so in the future. The hosts were awesome. My bedroom was directly above the grandmothers room, and they said it was a good thing she was hard of hearing ;) The husband saw me walk in with some of the action and just smiled while raising his eyebrows. The wife was always smilin at me too.
Read mine and Dooshbag's Beginners guides and you'll get more info.

Sorry so long getting back to you, but I just firmed up my flight plans to Rio. 9/21-9/29.
If you're there, let's kill a few beers in a terma.
Way cool. I'll start looking into plane reservations now even though I haven't even been back a week!
BT
Moondog, when are you going to make a make of Havana for us? Can they take 777´s there?

DanishGod,
I've always had the utmost respect for you and your knowledge in my days of lurking here -- but after finally renewing my membership and seeing your Cuba report, you have risen to a new level. I hereby nominate you for Hombre Prime Minister! Absolutely incredible work! I hope we get a chance to meet someday, there is much for me to learn from someone of your stature and wisdom.

LOL...thanks, however, perhaps you're just easily impressed Ducky!?
and as for all that prime minister rot, I hope you're not just lubricating me for an Amway presentation when we meet??

DanishGod,
I don't mean to offend my fellow hombres, but I'm actually unimpressed with some of the choices of my brothers and their rating systems. I understand that sometimes beauty doesn't always translate into photos and that one man's trash is another one's treasure, but I actually groan on occassion when I see some of these pics that are supposed to be of hotties. Your report on Cuba has opened my eyes to a glorious new destination. I hope I'm able to get there soon, before it's been overrun with less knowledgable hobbyists.
Ducky
P.S. The only thing I'd present to you when we meet would be an ice cold beer! I had actually nominated you for President, but that's really Hombre's title. I felt Prime Minister probably more adequately represented you as our chief chica ambassador.
Duck
Your "ambassador" would appreciate your impression of the recently posted Cubana Bush pics?
And in spite of any rumors to the contrary, I ALWAYS remain available for an ice cold beer "abroad".
DanishGod
PS
What is really enticing about cubanas is their fresh attitudes and warm GFE. I'm taking Doosh at his word when he says the average pro only works 2-3 times a week. It certainly explains a lot.
DanishGod,
About the Bush pics: I know some guys are into this kind of thing, but I don't believe there is any reason for a woman to have hair on any part of her body below the neck.
I'm curious how I'll feel about hair on the legs of women in Rio. I can understand why they don't shave their legs with the sun and all, and as long as its soft and not really noticeable I probably won't mind. (Well, that and the fact the legs will probably be wrapped around me in some way.)
Ducky
Great report. Unfortunately, I can't get the videos to work, even though I have Window's Media Player on my Mac.
D
People still have Macs?? (Any chance you drive a Pinto?)
Do you or Hombre have any suggestions for another format that can be viewed on a Mac? (Your pinto doesn't take Leaded gas, does it?)
My family leased a Pinto in the '70s. And the next door neighbor had an AMC Pacer. So I was doomed from an early age. And now this.

Did you download the most current version of Windows Media Player? I have Windows XP, and if you have anything but the most current WMP, you won't be able to view to videos. The trip report includes a link to Microsofts site. Try getting the latest and see if that works.
Then again, a current computer chip for your pinto engine won't get you offa the line any faster...sorry dude
DanishGod,
Excellent report. I enjoyed youur writing style and sense of pacing. I see we will have a great deal to discuss when we meet.

DanishGod,
Any info on your casa location? Where was it exactly?
Monger

In several trips, I have enjoyed staying at several different casas. I would never even consider staying at the casa listed in this report again, for the following reasons:
1. $35/night was asked. I currently pay low $20's
2. No private entrance, and they don't give you a key. No matter what time of the day or night you want to bring in a girl, they have to let you in.
3. The casa owner repeatedly made "errors" on my bill in his favor. Cubans love to smile and call you friend while they rip you off. I've never encountered anything like it anywhere else.
I'm quoting Doosh, but here's what you do. When you arrive, you go around in Central Havana, or Vedado and have a local cab driver take you to casas for you to inspect. Look for:
1. Private entrance with your own key
2. Hot water heater vs suicide shower vs no hot water!
3. Air conditioning
4. Ask about guest policy. If the host gets EVEN a LITTLE bit nervous - pass! Find another place.
5. Parking - do they have a guarded parking lot or garage within a block or so?
6. Even if you will be there for 10 days, say you will only pay one day at a time IN ARREARS! Remember, you are the commodity. If you prepay EVEN one day at a time, you lose power and they can and will change the rules of engagement on you.
Finally, I like to get in quiet streets away from the corners where police like to patrol. Also, the more apartments there are in a building, the less conspicious it is to go in and out of the entrance.

Many thanks for your outstanding Cuba report and equally good Beginners guide to Cuba. Both are really useful as I’m heading to Havana for the last week of July this year. I’m based in London so it’s a long flight (about 14 hours) but I’m certainly looking forward to it – particularly after reading about your experiences!
Two questions if you could spare me a moment to answer:
Would you recommend a hotel or an apartment for a not particularly experienced traveller such as myself? And - I know this one is a big ask! Can you let me know where I can hook up with the kid sister - Penelope Cruz? I reckon she is about as close to a 10 as it's possible to get!
Any other advice you can give would be gladly received.
Thanks for any assistance you can give and keep up the good work sir.
