This place is everything and more you could ever want from a hotel. I fell in love with it after seeing Wallstreet's suite last May.
I stayed two nights there while I was in Bangkok. I booked a special from http://www.asiatravel.com
I got the Platinum Jacuzzi Suite.
Here is why I like it so much:
1. The rooms are huge and nicely equipped. Each one has like a 42' Plasma Flat Screen display and DVD player.
2. They have huge in room safes, like all the President Hotels. This is huge for me.
3. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. You really get pampered there.
4. Security is excellent. They check all ID's of the ladies and call to verify everything is ok before they will let them leave. They even walked the pizza delivery guy up to my room.
5. The Jacuzzi Rooms were fun. It was great bathing with a hot Thai chick and then getting a BBBJ in the Jacuzzi. The ladies are all very impressed with the rooms.
6. There is no taxi mafia like there is in front of the Grand President. And they have a complimentary Tuk Tuk to take you to Sukhumvit and nearby places.
Two thumbs up for President Solitaire!

Xen...
If you do not mind me asking...what is the damage per night?
Thanks,

From the AsiaTravel.com website, I got a 3600 baht rate. That does not include a 10% service charge and 7% VAT.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the free broadband internet in the rooms as well. That is also a huge plus...

Lol, for 110 bucks a night it's kind of weird saying something's 'free'?
But always nice to hear how the OTHER HALF lives!

Yeah. I was thinking 3600 baht was a good deal until they tacked on the service charge and VAT. Luckily it was only two nights.

I wonder if this VAT charge is deductible from your departure fee at Don Muang? At 250 baht per night, you're halfway there if it is.

I totally agree with Xen's opinion of President Solitaire. I have stayed there exclusively the last 2 years and have never been dissapointed with the service or rooms. Another big feature Xen did not mention is the kitchen. If you have a sweetie staying with you it can be nice to have her cook for you - especially breakfast after a wake-up BJ. Life cannot get better than that.
It's a bit more expensive than others but you get what you pay for.

Oops re: VAT thought: Only on goods bought and have spent a minimim of 5000 baht.

Make sure, if she cooks a spicy breakfast, that she gives the morning BBBJ BEFORE eating, or AFTER brushing. One of those hard earned lessons by yours truly...

Xen,
In all of my travels, the PS is probably my favorite hotel. I think it's also a decent value and it pays to shop around. I got a great rate because I booked a week and if memory serves it was about $75 a night all included. Might have gotten that rate because it was off-off season And the service there is awesome. Only thing was the dirty looks from the guests in the dining room at breakfast, but I had two or three girls with me and they were NOT dressed in business attire.
Porker: I remember going to the airport with my bill for the full week at PS. Can't remember what the VAT was, but it was substantial enough. Needless to say they just laughed at me.

E -
I'm doing great, crazy at work and still making trips, albeit concentrating on Colombia.
I agree with Xen - trip reports can take so damn long as you guys know, and I just don't have the time to do 'em - Xen is onto something in doing a quick rundown while on site. It's more accurate and while on vacation your time is your own. I know when I come back from vacation, there's a ton of stuff I have to get to and then the reports go out the window, or in some people's cases they come out a year later
And as a matter of fact, I got your photos and put them in a special folder marked Epi Photos. Gotta love the 1 gig storage on Yahoo. Great pix btw - sorry I didn't respond sooner.

This sounds like me...
Don't worry about it, just wondered how you were. Hadn't heard from you in a long time and the only info I get is from Merlin when we hook up at our "weekly" meetings for dinner/coffee.

$75/night sounds more doable....always nice to treat yourself a bit.

Hey Wallstreet!
Good to hear from you. I still have very fond memories of the trip last May and seeing your suite really motivated me to try PS.
I know you are a Colombia Guy now, but I still look forward to hooking up with you on a trip sometime in the future.
PS is a little more than I like to pay, but for two days I figured what the fuck and decided to splurge. But I do agree it is well worth it.

WW,
I agree with everyone that this is a great hotel. I have been staying here since it opened and it never disappoints. Not the cheapest place, but for what you get it is great value for money.

I'll be staying at the Presidential Park at end of Feb. It's by Soi 24, may be a little bit removed from action but I heard good things about it. I dig the 3 pool aspect. it's going to run like $72/per w/ VAT etc. I'll drop the coin for a touch of luxury if I can bring 3 banshees to my room for a workout(s) and sun my lazy ass by the pool. You can only bang for like 2-3 hrs a day.
