World is geographically even more remote than Oase, and consequently relies even more on local clientele. On this Saturday night, many of the men know each other, and more locker room-type behavior is in evidence. The bar at World serves alcoholic beverages, unlike soft-drinks-only Oase, and that might well encourage a looser atmosphere. The massive, centrally located communal dining table contributes more to camaraderie than to epicurean gratification (that is to say, don’t go to World for the food.)
There seem to be more German girls, too, though Romanians are numerous and Russians are rife. A token Filipina, older and pudgier than most of the other girls, good-naturedly boasts of her superior massage and around-the-world skills.
The scene at World is much less centralized because its facilities are on two levels and it occupies more square footage. The bar at Oase is its junction – sit there and you’ll see everyone go by (reminds me of a Wilt Chamberlain trick: he would always position himself near the ladies’ room so that every woman at the party would pass him at least twice.) Though most ladies congregate in the main room near the bar for maximum visibility, there are more nooks and cubbyholes at World, so it’s a bit more of a challenge to keep an eye on the comings and goings of your special fantasy. Conversely, it is easier to find a spot with a little elbowroom if you’re hankering for a private chitchat.
However, it’s almost impossible to be alone, because the World girls are, on par, much more aggressive. They seem to speak less English, though they may simply be blunt - a typical introduction runs: “Hi, what’s your name? You want sex?”
And, indeed, we do.
