I only had 3 days. I did not have a lot of time for travel, I wanted to get past the border towns and needed a few days of the tropics and the opportunity to pursue our hobby. Puerto Vallarta seemed like a good spot. Figured the worst that would happen was that I would enjoy the beach, nightlife and gather as much information as possible. The best of course would be non-stop mongering at TJ prices.
As it turns out, PV has a lot going on, although there is a lot more of the tropics than a class "A" destination for mongering. While there is a lot of "tourist” information about PV to be had, there was not much about hotels etc... in the archives here, although there was some information on the spots for mongering. Could it be because there are not many and the few which exist are expensive? Well,.... yes. Good thing my trips was for only 3 days.
Also, for those who might be in a situation which makes mongering trips difficult, , PV like Mazatlan is a easy place to go "fishing" or golfing for a couple of days. Easier then say Rio or TJ. Plausible deniability.
One thing to keep in mind about this city is that it is truly a tourist spot. Not generally as upscale as Cabo ( although there are those areas) and while certainly bigger, very 'sanitized" for the tourists - mostly American.
Picture a downtown area, divided by a river. Close to the beach are the shops, restaurants and bars. Away from the ocean up to the hills is where the residential and commercial areas of the city are. Downtown is in the center of a 90 mile long, crescent shaped bay. Rocky beach along the downtown but beautiful white sand beaches as you go just a short way north or south. If you surf, bring your board. The winter waves were huge, at least mid February.
The downtown is several miles long, separated by the Rio Cuale. You can walk 'The Malacon" ( board walk) from one end to another, which is a great source of entertainment. It works something like this: the local guys are all trying to score with the drunk American girls. The local girls are all checking out the American guys, but travel in small groups (as you see through S. America) and never go into the bars. The American girls, also in groups - with one stunner and , well... Seemed to be lots of couples. In my short time, I pretty much stayed away from groups of Americans.
Just 5 minutes north of the downtown there is a Marina district, with some very pricy hotels, American style hospital and a small port for the cruise ships. Yes, cruise ships, one comes and goes every day, discharging hoards of soon to be drunk Americans, all heading for the famous boardwalk, "The Malacon"..... To stagger from the Hard Rock Cafe, to Carlos O’Brian’s with their 3 foot glasses of margaritas. Not a pretty picture. Further to the north along the shores of the bay are the mega resorts.
Not much directly to the south of the downtown area. There are water taxis to take you to some of the pricy hotels down the coast, but in a car, 10 minutes drive pretty much puts the city behind you.
South of the river but still considered downtown-central is the Zona Romantica, some nice beachfront hotels, restaurants, etc,,, but also has the largest concentration of gay and lesbian vacationers I have ever seen. Some of the hotels even advertise to these groups. I was glad I stayed north of the river.
I actually checked packages on several sites like Orbitz, Travelocity, etc.... which gave me a good feel for the hotels. I would recommend picking up something like the Moon's or Fromers guide. This would give one a good feel for the layout of this city and assist you in selecting the best area for your budget. I mention this because I did hope for, but did not expect, a place for non-stop mongering and was interested to really get a feel for this city. Unfortunately my expectation was correct. So at least I could do some site seeing during the day.
Dollars are accepted everywhere. So the $30 us massage can also be had for $30 pesos. Which is great as I was able to find small cambios everywhere with rates pushing 10.90 to 11. Again, this place is really geared for the American tourists.
Getting there: PV is serviced by quite a few airlines. From N. California, the cheapest was the United internet, TED. By far the cheapest at $330 round trip from SFO. America West, one stop through Phoenix, advertises at $438 but then taxes etc.... add another $100. Alaska runs direct flights but they priced out at $500 +. In talking with travelers, there are many deals from the east coast, but I am not sure of the pricing.
Once you land, even though the airport is close to town, unless you want to walk about 100 yards out to the street, you are stuck with using the airport taxi stand. Difference in price of about $10. Not worth it.
Hotels: Rates, even online, start at $46 us per night and quickly jump up to $70-$75 for the basic room. This is in the downtown-central area. The nicer hotels on the beach, south in the zona romantica and the Marina, push right up to $175 and beyond. The biggest problem is that with the exception of the 'love motels - I checked out one and heard of two more - forget about bringing girls back to the room. Forget it.
This place is locked down. I asked at the places I stayed and also the other two hotels I went into. I even registered for two, saying that my girlfriend would be joining me. They asked for her name and told me they would need her ID when she arrived. When asked for her name, I just made one up, but knew it was a long shot at best. The best choice them would be a condo or short term apartment rental.
As a starting point, I chose the Hotel Rosita. Find it on Travelocity or http://www.hotelrosita.com./ 52-322-223-2000. This is one of the oldest hotels in town, clean, right on the ocean at the top of the Malecon. The $46 room faces the street and I was happy the clerk suggested I move to one of the interior rooms at $72 us per night. It was worth it. I even had a ocean view, balcony, a tv ( no remote) and a fan. No air con in the rooms here, which means that after April, not the place to be.
Just one block off of the river and the Malecon is the Hotel Rio, http://www.hotelrio.com.mx/ 52-322-222-0366. Same rates as the Rosita, although some of the rooms have air con. If the zona romantica is where you want to be, then the Hotel Eloisa, http://www.hoteleloisa.com/ will put you just one block off the beach 52-322-222-6465.
There are hundreds of condominiums and pensions for rent if you would be there for a week or more. Lots of information of the internet and at http://www.visitpuertovallarta.com/ and http://www.go2vallarta.com/ . These would probably be much easier to bring the chicas into.
After two days at the Rosita I did move out to the Marriott in the Marina. Only a $4 cab ride from the start of the Malecon, but every bit of a 5 star property. At $225 + a night it should be.
Love Motels: The best one for location, close to the clubs is the Los Angles Motel. Close to club Hysteria and the girls are very comfortable to go there. Rates were $30 for 3-4 hours. Rooms were clean, air con, porn on the tv, most w/ Jacuzzi tubs. I asked about all night and was told $40, although I think they would put you in a different room.
Two people told me about the Dunes Motel, out past the airport, which they said is nicer. And the Motel Alamo, close to the 'red zone'. These two will have to wait for another trip. It was said they were the same price as the Los Angeles
Entertainment: There are hundreds of bars and restaurants from one end of the city to the other. You can spend all day and night parting with the tourists. But that was not why I was there.
While I heard rumors, I walked from one end of the downtown to the other and not a street girl to be found. Many tour and condo salesman lurking in the doorways up and down the Malecon. I was quick to ask about the clubs and girls and day time action. Many had girls the would be happy to fix me up with that evening, but the rates were the same as the clubs. With little time and the level of uncertainty, I declined.
These touts were however a plentiful source of information about the current "hot" clubs. Cab drivers work just as well for this if you have some Spanish skills. Of course the touts all speak English.
Also lacking were any "massage parlors along the lines of what we see in TJ. While there are many places to get a massage, I was unable to get "full service" in any of them. It took three visits to the same one to finally get a CBJ, which at $50 us, was more then the hour massage which was $30 us. And the same price I paid for a ball massage and hand job my first two visits. This was a place called Damley Massage, right across the street and up the stairs from the Hotel Molino De Agua. Look for the sign. All three visits I saw Ely, a cute girl of 24 yrs old. I did walk into four or so similar massage parlors around the city but knew right away that only a massage was to be had. I kept hearing there were other places but could not find them.
Clubs: During my short stay I visited only two, Club Hysteria and Candy's.
Hysteria had the best selection of girls, by far. it also has real rooms in the building next door. It is in kind of a run down area up the hill from the Marina. It was clean and actually set up nicely inside; good stage, clean and nice bar. It is in a semi residential/business area. The surrounding streets were empty. Best to take a cab there.
I arrived about 10 pm, the place was busy. About half and half, locals and tourists. They had a $10 peso cover with a coupon for a free table dance. The manager brings you to a table and introduces you to the next girl in line. I rejected the first one, told her I was tired. Several others came over, looking for drinks, which were $12. Regular drinks were $6. After about 30 minutes the manager stopped by my table with a real stunner. Light brown hair, about 5'10", 125 lbs, looked like Jessica Simpson. Marianne, from Monterey.
Rates were $160 for 30 min and $200 for one hour in the room. The rooms are actually in the building next door, large with queen size bed. Rooms were just ok, fairly clean but no towels in the bathroom. You pay the manager all the $ before you go out and over to the next building. I think they also have small 'private dance areas in the culb itself.
Spent a good half hour with Marianna, from Monterey, 19 yrs old. Gorgeous girl, 5'10', 130 lbs with a great rack and an ass like a Brasilian. She was super affectionate at the table, hand on my crotch, tongue in my ear. Probably the best table dance ever. I did love it when she stood on the chair, pulled aside her thong and jammed her crotch in my face. That's all it took for me to take her to the room
All over me at the table, very affectionate. But in the room just wanted it doggie style ( which was not bad) but did rush me to finish. I wanted to use every minute and she actually got a bit impatient with me. So what. I was happy to enjoy every square inch of this one.
Hysteria is very close to Hotel Los Angeles and the girls are happy to go for an extra $100. The manager will make all the arrangements. For these prices he should. Hotel as mentioned is $30 us for 3 hours and $40 for all night.
Candy's: My second night I went here. Very close to the Marina, a bit north and right on the main road. Looks more upscale then Hysteria from the outside but almost the same set up inside. Prices were the same as well, $160 for 30 min and $200 for one hour in the room, but no separate rooms. Only small private dance rooms in the club. At least they have doors although they were not very clean. Drinks for the girls here was expensive,, at $15 each. Ouch.
I arrived about 10:30, the place was almost empty with only about 12 girls. As I ordered some drinks, the girls came over, one by one. Nothing was to my liking and was almost ready to leave. Then there was Stephanie. Mid to late 20's - hard to tell in the low light. Huge rack and the smallest waist I have seen in a while. She was not the cutest, but certainly had the best personality. Also very affectionate at the table so I went for 30 minutes in the room.
Again, you have to pay the manager when he escorts you to the room. This guy hit me up for a tip, big time. I declined, told him "later", but he insisted. A real turn off. Was easier to give him $5, even though he asked for $20. Couldn't believe it. I just wanted to fuck this girl and go somewhere else.
Well in the better lighting in the room I did have second thoughts. Looked like she had been rode hard and put away wet. Only a bench, table and one chair in the room so it was easy to just lay her across the table and deposit my load.
While the club scene, just like anywhere else, changes as the girls cycle through, I do not think I would rush back to this place. Hysteria was much better by far.
There ware some other clubs in town, set up on the same model as Hysteria and Candy's. I can only report what I heard as I did not have a chance to check it out this trip. Everyone I spoke with told me the pricing is the same everywhere. The other clubs in town are:
Juniors, up the hill above the Zona Romantica. Been around a long time although people were saying it did not have the best girls at that time.
Armageddon, close to Candy's on the main road. A new addition. Looked very upscale from outside. Cad driver told me drinks were expensive and selection was weak.
Evolution, ,, could not find out anything about this one.
Red Zone: There is some information in the archives about this area. It is about a 15 minute drive out past the bull ring. No time to check it out, but was told that the nicer girls all work in town. We'll see, you never know. I would go out there next time. The Motel Alamo is in this area.
Outcall: Aside from the condo salesmen offering girls, in my short time I found only one.
Juliet Massage. I called and the woman spoke English very well. She explained they only go to the Motel Los Angeles. That I should go there, and then call. She would send a girl. Of course, they have all types, she said. Prices were $2000 pesos for 30 minutes, $22500 for one hour and $28000 for 2 hours. I cannot find their phone number right now, but actually got it off of the web before I left. You can get it from the gate guard at the Los Angeles Motel. May be the only possibility for daytime action.
All in all Puerto Vallarta is a nice place to visit but you would not want to go there just to pursue our hobby. Those resources are limited and the prices are high. Years ago, when I traveled for my job and could easily visit Rio or BK several times a year, PV just would not be on my list. Cleaner and safer then TJ for sure, but very pricy. I was also there for only three days and imagine that with some more time, you could line out a few girls from the clubs to hang with out of the club environment. Many people from all over Mexico there to make money off the tourists.

Hey Doc, thanks for the info. I have (or am stuck) with a timeshare in Puerto Vallarta so I go to PV every so often. I also didn't find too much in terms of p4p venues during my trips, but I did have some luck by having a cabbie hook me up with some girls he had on speed dial. The girls referred from the cabbie were actually fairly attractive, typical Jalisco babes -- mid-20's, light skinned, blond, bodacious and passionate in bed. I wish I had the cabbies number, but he's on staff at the Mayan Palace and goes by the name "Paco".
If you get a chance, you should check out Guadalajara for the amazing eye candy -- some stunning women and the city has some great historic sites and architecture.

Prestige has some excellent talent at times...it is a more pricey strip club on the main drag, and if you have the extra cash to spend it is worth checking out.

It's unfortunate to hear about the conditions in PV. I am making my first trip in August with a small group of friends to celebrate my birthday. I have been to Cancun (expensive), Acapulco, Punta Cana, and Rio, and have never spent more than 100us, and less, in any of these places. I guess I'll just have to chalk it up to just another experience, as opposed to another great experience.

Damn!!!!
$2000 pesos for 1/2 hr and don't even come to the hotel of your choice...and I thought DF was gonna be expensive at $2000 pesos per hour!

Great report on PV. I have a condo in the Marina and Candy's is the closests club for me. On Christmas I had 2 girls from Prestige over for some action. 1 American and 1 Canadian and the cost was some Valvetta and summer sausage. The things that women miss. Prestige imports women for all over S. America. Great talent.

Merlin: It was a surprise to find the lack of p4p activities. Probably the reason I did not go for girls through a cabbie or from one of the timeshare salesman was a hope that I was missing something. But I guess not. Next trip however, that will be the first thing I do when I get off the plane.
The Mayan Palace looked nice. I was amazed at the new construction in that area as well as the number of people in the airport asking me if I wanted to buy a condo, cheap. I am in the real estate industry but did not have time this trip to check prices, etc...
Met a local on the plane down. He also suggested Guadalajara. Only a 5-6 hour run in one of those nice buses. Next trip.
Zuperfly: Not sure how I forgot Prestige. While I did not get there I heard it often has a great selection, but also the most expensive. Not sure how much more it could be.
For what is available, this has to be one of the most expensive destinations I have been to. It sounds like the selection really varies from week to week between the different clubs. Makes sense.
Prowler1: Hopefully I missed something. I would be happy to pay my $160 for the half hour in a Rio terma, but the back room at Candy's......well. Let us know what you find from your August trip.
LatinL & Camone: While I was there by myself, I think the club scene in PV caters to groups of convention people or golfers, who step out one night, drop $500 + and don't really care. They won’t do it again until next year.
I saw in Candy's 5 professional looking guys come in, sort through the girls, buy one drink and left. Each with a girl. All in a matter of 20 minutes. Thought they were the same ones with a golf tour which left the airport the same day as I did, wives in tow. The clubs know there is no competition so they have no reason to change.

Doc, I am going to Acapulco in early May, Punta Cana in late June, PV in mid-August, and Rio in mid-November. My reservations are already made for all trips. I intend to report on all as I return. I personally don't have a problem paying $160.00 to play (I've payed $900.00 for two at one time in Hong Kong, and I have to say it was the best $$ I've ever spent in any location). I just didn't have any idea that it would be more than $100.00 in PV considering that it didn't exceed that amount in what I thought were much better places. My friends might be a bit disappointed, but I expect to enjoy myself in spite of the cost.
I have to add that it has been a real pleasure coming across this site. I have been at the "hobby" for a couple of years and early on I did alot of travelling by myself. As a result, I got in the habit of inviting others along and footing the bill for flights and hotels. As you can imagine, that gets a little old after a while. In any event, although I've had to learn most of what I know as a result of researching on the internet, and first-hand experience, maybe I can hook up with some of the more experienced at some point and really earn my degree. Take care and I'll keep in touch.

You will pay 2000p minimum for any decent chica from the clubs in PV...for a superstar at Prestige, i paid 3000, and it was worth it. if you are in town for a few days, the girls may give you their phone number, and you can arrange to meet them outside of the club, and enjoy either more time or a 500p discount.
Prowler, if you dont mind spending a bit, you will love Acapulco: 500p barfine, 1500-2500p for all night long, and many beauties to choose from! Quick sessions in the club run 1000-1500p. Acapulco is the best mongering destination in Mexico for me.

Given what I learned and the feedback from you guys will definately change my approach to PV next trip.
The great thing about this site is getting the heads up on a particular city. As with PV, once you realize the TJ stlye & pricing does not apply, you can mazimize your expereince, cut to the chase.
I would like to hit Acapulco soon, Sounds like the selection there surpasses PV and the action is more varied.....Thanks
By Doctorhollywood on Saturday, March 12, 2005 - 10:31 am: Edit |
One more thought ........ Anyone heading to PV might look to staying in a condo or short term rental rather than a hotel. With the exception of the "love motels" this would be the only way to bring chicas up to your room. Hopefully this can be found for 3-4 day at a time.
Any suggestions on short term rentals? There is a lot of info on the web. I'll post here what I find......

Zuperfly, I was in Acapulco in early February and paid a one night drink tab of $1,000.00us for myself, my brother, and several of the girls, so the money's not a problem. I admit, we were really putting the liquor away. I'm more concerned for my friends who are going along and don't have that kind of money. However, it is my birthday, and I'm going to enjoy my time one way or another. Generally, I don't care to take the girls back to my room because I don't like the idea of having to watch them every second. I've done it on a couple of occasions and both times the girls stole from me. Nothing significant, but enough to make me hesitant to do so again. I'd rather do 'em in the club and leave their asses there when I leave. Obviuosly, I'll have a better idea about the place after I've been there. And, if I have to cross it off the list for future trips, no problem.
And Doc, your statement about being happy to "pay $160us for a 1/2hr at a terma in Rio, but a back room at Candy's" were my sentiments as well. As I stated, I've never paid more than $100us any where (with the exception of $900us for two filipinas in Hong Kong), so it just seemed a bit odd to me that the starting rate would be $160us for 1/2hr in PV. No problem, Ill make it work.
I've got enough trips planned this year so that if there is one bump in the road, the others will make up for it. I've done this enough to know that not every trip is going to turn out to be the dream trip.
2005 Trips:
Acapulco/ May 3-10
Punta Cana/ June 25-July 2
Puerto Plata/ July 19-26
Puerto Vallarta/ August 10-17
Rio/ November 12-19
I might try and do CR between the August and November trips. With the exception of my flight for Rio, all reservations are made. If anybody might be in the vicinity at these times let me know if your interested in hanging out. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks. But I figure a new dog can learn some old tricks. I being the new dog, of course.

Prowler, I'm sure if you scout the clubs when you arrive you'll make it a great trip. There appears to be some good talant in PV, just have to find it.
I have the same attitude about the $. Especially as these days my trips are limited by other commitments. When I go, I just want to have a good time. PV has some good things going on, although pricy.
I'm keeping your schedule, maybe I'll see you there in Aug........good luck....

Doc,
In the past, and prior to my awareness of this and other sites, I always relied on the taxi drivers. But, I'm from an environment where the hustle was a normal way of life. So, it didn't take me long to pick up the various hustles that are employed in the locations I travel to, i.e., drivers wanting to take me to a place of their choice, rather than of my choosing, was usually a tip off that they are getting a commission. I always see my first night as a time of exploration and learning, although I find it necessary to monger the first night as well. After all, that is what I'm there for. However, after a couple of night and days running around and talking to various people, I ususally have a good idea what the remainder of my trip is going to be like and where it will be spent. I'll usually stop in at 3-4 places a night just to get a feel for the talent and the environment. But, as I've always said, it's just nice to get away from this rat race some times. Hell, I can go out here in the US and easily spend $100-200 and still end up going home alone. Hope to see you at some point in our travels.

I always have had a good time with the girls from Juniors Bar. In addition to Mexican girls, on occasion they get girls from all over the world. Its pricey but worth it. The last time I was there I met a blonde girl from Canada. She was really in demand especially with the Mexican guys. I was charged 200$ US for an hour but it was definitely worth it. Really friendly and energetic, perky little tits and extremely tight little pussy. She gave me her cell phone number and thoughout the week I was able to connect with her without going through the club.. also she gave me a nice discount.. felt more like a vacation with her than being with hooker. She said she was going to stay in PV for awhile. so guys if you are going to PV, I would heartity recommend Susanne
