Historically, we’ve always spent the most time here, and this trip was no different. As always, we stayed at the Sandy Spring, located on Soi 13. For a “membership” price of 450B/year, you get preferred rates on their rooms (saving about 300 – 500B per night). For 1990B/nite, we each got a suite. They have two types of suites. The better ones are the ones with two bathrooms. I can’t say that I really NEED the suite, but I like having that extra room. Although there is some construction on soi 13, I didn’t hear any noise this trip. Most of the work is being done next to the Dynasty Inn. I like the Soi 13 location, close to Walking St., within walking distance to Royal Gardens and Lólita's, and three nearby 7/11-like joints and a nearby internet place.

In the past, we always spent most of our time at the Walking St gogos. We planned on diversifying a little this trip, but I have to admit failure for the most part. Once again, we were fixtures at the big popular gogos, and the results were less satisfying than in the past.

Living Dolls (LD)

Right in the middle of the action, this gogo never seems to be as crowded as one would expect. Reasonably cute girls and very little pressure. On the first night, we stopped in and took a look. The mamasan at Living Dolls Showcase (LDS) was here on her night off with another very cute girl who I would later find out is a waitress at LD. The waitress’ name is Nin and she was very cute. Having never barfined a service girl, I wanted her to pop my cherry. Unfortunately, the one night I was completely free, she had already been pre-barfined. Oh, well, next trip.

LDS

I have spent an inordinate amount of time in this one gogo. The regular dancing girls are cute, the shows are pretty good, and the showgirls are HOT!!! The problem with this place, though, is that the showgirls are a fickle lot. Some will barfine, some won’t and you never really know why or how. I had previously barfined about 5 or 6 showgirls, and to my great disappointment, none of them worked there any longer. Many of the showgirls were new, so that meant I had to spend the time to find out which ones were willing to go out.

Once again, I found myself drawn to the babes with impressive racks. There were two I found more than acceptable, but the first one (who had a gorgeous face) didn’t want to be barfined. Mai pen lai. On to the next one, with an even more impressive set of boobs (which is amazing because she was already 27 and had a kid). I ended up barfining her ST a number of times (let’s call her LDS#1).

One night, LDS#1 was not feeling so well, so I asked her to bring over a cute, slender and energetic showgirl. She spoke decent English and showed a decent attitude. She told me that prior to coming to Pattaya, she worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Bangkok for like three years. She seemed very skilled and I was starting to look forward to that evening. Unbeknownst to me, though, sometime during the show, one of her “regulars” showed up and barfined her out from under me. That same night, my buddy started getting acquainted with a tall slender showgirl and she was showing him the requisite interest. At some point, he even told her he wanted to barfine her and she seemed fine with the prospect. After seeing how I got aced out of my showgirl, he quickly gave the 1000B barfine to the mamasan. Minutes later, however, she came back and told him that for LT, she charges 5000B. My buddy did a double-take and then politely passed. At first, we both took this event as just “one of those things” that happen with showgirls. Sometimes they quote you an outlandish amount because they don’t really want to go with you. Other times, they do that if they thing they have someone gullible enough to bite.

Unfortunately, something would later happen that would sour my affection for LDS. Over the past year, my buddy and I had, between us, probably barfined about ten women from LDS, and I had always kept good relations with all my previous barfines. My buddy on the other hand, might have generated a little more ill will from his butterflying. A couple of his past barfines were still working there and pointedly ignored him. One night, I came in and told LDS#1 that I wanted to barfine her LT. She asked me what I was going to pay her. I was stunned, as she had never before discussed money with me. I told her exactly that. She said that some of the other girls had told her that in the past, I had paid one or more girls 5000B for long time. I told her in all honesty that this was absolutely not true. The most I have EVER paid to ANYONE in Pattaya was 2500 (and that was once with a superstar). She refused to believe me and started sulking. Angry, I said “goodbye” and left.

Somehow, someway, either we got labeled as “suckers” or someone was screwing with us. We eventually suspected that one of my buddy’s past barfines was sticking it to us. I later complained to the mamasan about this, but she never really got to the bottom of it. She told LDS#1 that it wasn’t kosher to bring up what some guy may or may not have paid to someone else. I asked for a little more help, but the mamasan shrugged and told me quite frankly that she has no idea what I paid in the past. Ultimately, we only came to LDS once or twice more for short periods of time, and I only bf’d LDS#1 one more time (ST for market prices). I know I should have boycotted, but she was hot and I was weak. At the end of the day, LDS has the hottest women, and if you don’t mind the drama and uncertainty, it’s a great place. If you desire fewer games and bait and switch, there are other great gogos to visit.

The Beach Club

One of the newer gogos, owned by the same people who own Peppermint and Happy, Beach Club is located right on Walking St., and is a little smaller than both of the other clubs. Its layout is also a little different, instead of one large stage, it has a bunch of little ones all throughout the club. They have two types of women: one, the ones who dance on mirror-like tables without panties (like at Peppermint), and two, the “hostesses” who wear street clothes and don’t dance. Both PP and Happy also have a lot of hostesses that don’t dance. I thought the women here (both the dancers and the hostesses) were very hot. Because of the quality of the women and the small size of the club, it is often very crowded in here.

This is why we adopted a new strategy here. We would go to the most popular gogos early and scope out the talent and make friends before it got too crowded. This way, we could come back at a later date or time. I still think the strategy is sound, but my luck Beach Club was much less so. My buddy and I barfined a couple of “hostesses” here that we had met on a previous night and they both, initially, demonstrated good attitudes.

At their suggestion, we went to Peppermint to hang out and watch the dancers. I didn’t know this at the time, but I guess that a bargirl from any of the three (PP, Happy and Beach) can get ladydrinks (and the money that goes along with them) from any of the other two gogos. I know that, when I recounted this story in the chat section, some of you balked at this practice, but I didn’t really mind, since I don’t think the Ladydrinks cost any more or less than the regular drinks. The difference (other than the smaller drink itself) is that the BGs got 60B out of each drink (more than any other bar or gogo that I am aware of). The only reason I bring this up is that I didn’t have a problem with treating the girls well and letting them make a little more coin.

We spent about an hour to 90 minutes at Peppermint before we (they, really, since my buddy and I had already eaten) stopped to get something to eat at Marine seafood market. The girls probably needed it too, since they were both kind of buzzed. After another hour there, we decided to go back to the hotel. For whatever reason, the food did not improve their inebriated state very much and I ended up with a lackluster session. Already aware that she was getting to be a kind of a pain in the ass, I asked her if she wanted to stay the night or not since she wasn’t feeling that well.

She eventually decided on going home instead of staying over. She called my buddies room and told the other girl that they would leave together whenever they finished. While we waited, I slipped her 1500B and started watching TV to kill time. Somehow, and I don’t know when, she must have peeked into her pocket and saw how much I gave her. She asked me if had barfined many women before, and I acknowledged that I had. She then proceeded to tell me that “short time” constituted one or two hours, and that, since we had spent three hours together, that constituted “long time.” In short, she told me that she deserved 2000 or 2500B. Great, another winner. I politely explained that she wasn’t getting anymore and that she should leave NOW. Shortly thereafter, my buddy called to say that they were finished. I told him my story, after which he said “shit, I don’t have any change” (meaning he was going to give her 2000B). I think my response was something along the lines of “motherfucker, don’t make me look like a douchebag by giving her that much.” He ultimately gave her the 2000B and demanded change. It’s good to have good buddies who have your back.

Carousel

I like this place, even though it doesn’t have a lot of seating since it has one large circular stage that dominates the club. Because the stage revolves (like a carousel – get it?), it’s easy to see all the dancing girls. On our last trip, they seemed to have better looking women. This time they were just fair. The service women are also pretty cute and friendly although you should be warned: the women at Carousel are big-time drinkers. They LOVE their tequila shots, and many of the girls there are hammered by the end of the night.

On the night my buddy got quoted 5000B at LDS, it was almost 2am and he was kind of pissed. I dragged him into Carousel to find him a girl. I noticed one cute blond on stage and she was flirting with me heavily. Although, on another night, I would have been sorely tempted, I pointed to my BG and shrugged. It did cross my mind, though, that I would have to come back some other day and barfine her. I guess my buddy found her attractive as well, and the next thing I knew, he had quickly barfined her. While she was getting dressed, I took my barfine and headed back to the hotel.

Meanwhile, back at Carousel, the girl got dressed and suggested that she and my buddy go dancing at what she called the “Arab disco,” which turned out, I think, to be Marine 2 Disco. When my buddy expressed surprise, she asked him “why you Americans don’t like Arabs?” In an effort make our brothers in red, white and blue look good, he agreed to go. What he didn’t know at the time, though, was that she was already pretty drunk. When they got to the disco, she ordered to Hooka pipe, which she began to smoke. I have no idea what’s in one of those, but I guess it is strong. Before too long, her eyes roll into the back of her head and she PASSES OUT!!! Within minutes, the Disco announces that it’s closing time.

Left with two choices (ditching her or taking her back to the hotel), he does the chivalrous thing. He ended up carrying her out of the disco, down the street, into a bahtbus and into the hotel. Oh yeah, she ended up barfing right outside the hotel. With a little help from the night security guy, he gets her back into the room and puts her down on the bed. At this point, she revives a little and starts getting amorous. For some reason, the passing out and puking took my pal right out of the mood. She would end up flailing in bed most of the night.

Fortunately, he had better luck the next time he went to Carousel. He barfined two of the waitresses, who provided him with a great threesome that included (he says) some awesome lesbo action, although one of the two was very drunk and also puked at some point that evening as well.

I am by no means a LOS expert having only been there once for 4 weeks (and waiting another year before getting there again) but...

I am a bit surprised about the prices you are being quoted and your apparent willingness to readily fork out cash. I mean I FULLY understand your symphathy for the girls and their need to make money, that is totally cool and they should be rewarded when they provide to be good companions, guides, entertainers, etc. But to go for the BS ladydrink and luckluster service bit I do not know...I find it annoying and sneaky. I mean if you want to tip them tip them, if you want to buy them drinks buy them but the lady drinks are crap. I re a Chiang Mai girl in Pattaya tried and do this to me and me being annoyed at it and not reacting to it right away. The same girl later that night (after I had bought her a gift and food...she was a knockout) tried and cut the session short from LT to ST. I got upset, told her that was not the deal...blah blah...threatened to go to the mamasan to get my money...ended up not finishing (this all started during a fuck break) and sending her home without any cash.

We are the customers and if we should not have those games played on us. I think that there are some dudes here that treat the girls in ways that are not so good but also some of the girls are not that cool. Seriously 1500 B for 3 hours, 2 of which did not involve any bed time and they are STILL trying to get more out of you?

I think a lot more guys have some of the same experiences as you have had in Thailand but dont want to talk about it because they like to only focus on the great parts about Pattaya. I'm starting to notice that Thailand's economy is starting to become so strong that the demands and expectations of the girls are going right along with the increase in revenue pumping throughout the country. If you don't speak Thai and are 20 years or older than the girl, then you pretty much can expect attitude and contempt from the girls. The girls at the top notch bars all have local boyfriends who are nothing special but they are still Thai and we are not. Thai rhuk Thai. To them it's just a job. I like the stunners so I have to be real careful not to pull the trigger on a girl just because she is smokin' hot. You have to get the vibe for how long they have been working and what their expectations are.

The only way I really can weed out the girl-next-door hotties from the cunts is by doing the following:

1. More than one tatoo: I dont even approach them
2. Died hair: approach but buy a couple of lady drinks to see their attitude.
3. If they discuss money at all in the initial conversation: drop em
4. If they make any demands about what you can or cannot do before the date: drop em
5. If they are already scheduling where you are going the rest of the night(ie to buy their ugly friends drinks at other bars): drop em

There are other ways of determining if you have a winner or not like body language and facial expressions but I always use the first rules as a guideline.

The only one I would disagree with is the tattoos, but I actually PREFER the ubersluts and so that's one of the ways I help define the prey...

Concarne, as a dyed in the wool cheap charlie (tm), I gotta disagree with you. What anyone else pays or what their attitude is toward money spent is really nothing to be criticized. What may seem like excessive amounts to ME may be tip money to somebody else. In one of the incidents you mention, where the girl got 1500 and wanted more, the guy DID put his foot down and say NO. And when the girls wanted 5K, he and his buddy emphatically said NO. Doesn't sound like he was being taken advantage of or losing control over the power of payment.

Without question, I spend WAAAY too much time fixated on the uberhotties at the high-end gogos. For those girls, I have no problem paying 1500ST/2000LT. With my limited Thai, I have not mastered the art of superior interviewing (I'm much better at this in Rio). I KNOW I should seek to improve, but I get lazy.

As for drinks, since I found the Lady drinks to be the same price as regular drinks, I actually don't have a problem w/ them getting a cut, but I can see why others disagree.


As for lackluster sessions, that's something you often don't discover until you are between the sheets. This is something I would never berate a BG for. Ditto re: cutting sessions short from LT to ST. There's no REAL point in complaining to her (she KNOWS what she's doing) or the mamasans (they may sympathize, but they'll only shrug their shoulders).

At the end of the day, I confess to spending more time than I should chasing the trophy fuck. Please forgive me. I'll try harder next time. Promise (hey, that's word for word what I just said to my dental hygienest about flossing).

Yeah, her name's Ning. Sweet girl and (IMHO) supercute. We actually barhopped from 9-1, then off to the room for some mattress olympics. She's not a real firecracker, but treated me good. She started her mens that night after we were midfuck. Not the best time to find blood.

Did you check your bills? No way are lady drinks the same price as regular drinks.NO bar is going to give the pooying a 60 baht cut on a regularly priced drink. Most bars in fact only give them 20-40 baht at most even for Lady Drinks.
The prices vary from bar to bar but regular drinks are 90-110 baht LDs are usually 135-175 baht. The usual rule is even in her OWN bar as soon as she changes clothes they are supposed to charge you regular drink prices for her.

Blazer's: I dig your rules man, I guess I was subconciously implementing them myself.

Porker: you are right...if someone wants to burn (literally) their money is their money. My point about the extra tipping was re the 'hidden' tip in the form of the lady drink that the girl gets a cut out of. I mentioned the 1500 only because Segue did say he was in Pattaya and he was allready paying (quite a bit) that for ST. I do not dig it when someone is being overcharged (of course, for all I know this chick was Ms Thailand).

See KM comments re ladydrinks: that is what I remember from looking at my bills at the pooying's bar.

I was trying to make two larger points:

1- That Segue may be being a bit too tolerant/nice of what, in my opinion, struck me as bad service.

2- That, despite the individual's take on the expenditure of their money, how money is dispensed about in the hobby does affect all of us at large.

Hey...you get fantastic service/good time ala Epi tip and reward to your heart's content. That encourages great service. Overpay or tip for crappy/rude/subpar service that is the slippery slope and we will not be talking about what a great deal SEA is 10 years from now.

What I tried and do always is to bargain as hard as I can, pay the going rate or less if possible as an initial agreement. If nicely taken care of, reward by tipping or re-date often with added gifts and time out.

Let me finish by saying I DO NOT mean any disrespect to anyone here.

I am fully aware that compared to most of you I am a green rookie monger and I can learn from all of you. I do not like it when people get bogus service or when the lady's are treated crappily either for that matter.

From what I remember the beer bar fines were around 300 baht and the go go's was 500. Those were low season prices (july/august)

Most gogos have barfines of 500 or 600B. A couple, like LDS, have 1000B barfines for a certain type of girl, like the showgirls. At 1am, even their barfine goes back down to 600B.

i have just returned from my first trip in los (not my last) and imho i found if you find the right girl they have a lot of love to give.
