HOTEL/LODGING ACCOMODATIONS

There are a number of on-site options at various Peru P4P establishments. However, in order to keep your options as wide open as possible, it's recommended that you stay in a place considered "guest-friendly", where you may bring a working lady "guest" to your apartment or hotel room.

According to what I've read, many hotels and apartments will either add a credit card surcharge, or provide a cash discount. On both trips I always paid cash, usually on a nightly basis, but I also stayed in budget hotels. Doing this in a nicer 4 star or 5 star hotel would probably not be practical.

Supposedly almost any lodging establishment is at least somewhat guest-friendly depending on when you bring your guest back or your relationship with the security staff, however I have no experience or direct knowledge to support this. Below I have reviewed two establishments I've personally stayed at and have had no problems with guests at. Following the two reviews is a list and short summary of places that are supposedly guest-friendly based on other reviews.

Both hotels are in the Miraflores district, the best place to stay for tourists visiting Lima.

Hotel Maria-Luisa

Pasaje Tello 241, off block 4 of Larco

My hotel of choice. This hotel is definitely guest-friendly and is in a very convenient location. A 24hr iCafe, a 24hr pharmacy and a laundromat are all located less than a block away. Tequila Rock(popular freelancer bar), Parque Kennedy, and Pizza Alley are less than two blocks away. Rooms are nothing fancy, but clean and relatively modern with rates as low as 50 PEN ($15 USD) per night.

Paseje Tello is a small sidestreet off of Diez Canseco near the 4th block of Larco Ave. Consequently many cab drivers will probably not be familiar with it. Having their business card on hand, or better yet the small map is highly recommended. At the very least, you should be able to communicate Maria-Luisa's general location "espalda de la cuardra 4 de Larco en Miraflores".

Although I personally felt safe walking the area, Pasaje Tello is not very well lit. I am unaware of problems, but I could understand if others had concerns about the safety of the immediate area.

The desk staff was all female, this might be uncomfortable for some hobbyists.

I never attempted to bring more than one lady into my room at a time, but i did witness another visitor denied entry for the THIRD lady he wanted to bring into his room. The desk staff would not allow him more than two guests in the room at a time.

Hotel Las Palmas

Calle Bellavista 320

Las Palmas is a much better known guest-friendly hotel for Peru hobbyists and more likely to be known by taxicab drivers, or at least the street where it's located, Calle Bellavista. Rooms are more expensive starting at 70 PEN ($22) per night for lower quality rooms with older furnishing. On my past stays they have not had an elevator, but were in the processing of installing one on this most recent visit in January.

Some have complained about the noise of a nearby disco, but it never bothered me.

Las Palmas is located on the other side of Parque Kennedy, so it's right next to Pizza Alley with Tequila Rock and the 24hr iCafe approximately two blocks away.

The immediate area seemed safe to me, but the streets in the opposite direction of Pizza Alley and Parque Kennedy may not appear as secure as some travelers would like.

ALTERNATIVES
A few alternative guest-friendly accomodations according to trip reports and reviews I've come across.
*Hostal El Patio - Diez Canseco 341 in Miraflores. Listed rate is US$40. If you pay with cash, they'll discount the rate to US$35.
*Leon De Oro Inn & Suites - Av. LaPaz 930 in Miraflores (www.leondeoroperu.com). $50 per night double.
*El Doral Apartment Hotel - Av. Jose Pardo 486 in Miraflores (www.eldoral.com.pe). Double suite is $50.

Another option in Miraflores is the San Martin Apt Hotel at Calle San Martin 598. I have not stayed there, but I was told by someone who has that it's a nice place and chica friendly.

On their website, the suite is US$70. If you ask, and you pay cash in advance and stay for a week or more, I was told that they will discount the rate down to US$40-55.

Hopefully, I'll be able to give a first-hand account of this hotel in the near future.

Hello. RT here.

I stayed at the Las Palmas on my last trip. It was fine, if a little on the older side, and got a lot of street noise. My travel buddy talked with a couple of civilians, and he said that the hotel has a reputation for mongers. Sort of like telling a regular chica in San Jose that you're staying at the Hotel Del Rey. It totally blows your cover.

On a separate note, does anyone know if the Hotel Las Americas (right down the block from Las Palmas) is chica-friendly? It seems to have many of the modern convienences, and looks like it could be quieter in the rooms.

Thanks.
