DEPARTURE/CONCLUSION

Taxi ride back to the airport should be much less expensive, you can find one of many cabs off the street of have your hotel call one for you. On my most recent trip I paid 25 soles ($8 USD) for the ride. A ride directly to the airport is slightly more expensive than to Callao in general, I believe because the cab drivers have to pay a fee to enter the airport. It's generally recommended to arrive at the airport 2-3 hours before your flight, although both times I arrived two hours ahead and ended up being very early.

You'll need to pay a departure tax of $28 USD (also payable in soles) at a separate counter to the left after picking up your ticket.

Clearing immigration on the departure was a breeze compared to the mess on arrival, but the security checks are longer. There is a separate security check at the gate which seems to take much longer than the initial security check. This line grows long early and stays that way for a long time. On both visits to Peru, there were still people waiting in this line at the scheduled boarding time. Both flights ran significantly late, of course. Also note that once you clear this line and enter the gate, you'll no longer be able to access the phones, bathroom, or food carts. I'm not sure if you can leave the area without going through the security line again. For this reason, I've avoided getting in line too early.

Once they finally have all the passengers cleared and the plane ready for boarding, simply hand over your boarding pass and you'll be on your way back from this slice of Paradise.

That's about it. Hopefully this guide will help you have a more enjoyable and safer time while visiting Lima, Peru. Please add suggestions or comments as I plan to build on this guide in the future. Have fun!

Vlad, a most excellent guide. I appreciate the time and effort of putting this together. I've always been curious about this destination since you, as well as others (Eastcoast dude) seem to be uniformly enamored of Peru.

It's interesting how there are many Asians in certain parts of Peru, did you come across any gals of mixed descent? Ran into a few in my travels in Central America and what a combo, Spanish-Asian-Indian mix.

One thing I've always been very curious about is how the girls in Peru look compared to the other destinations. Specifically, I know Peru has a high indigineous population, like Bolivia or Guatamala, and was wondering if there is a variety of looks in the gals. I actually think that some of the Peruvian girls I have run across in the States were quite beautiful and shapely. Do you have some pics?

Finally, if this is not asking so much, could you do a brief comparison of why you like Peru so much as opposed to other destinations. I'm seriously thinking of investing some time and effort into going soon, but seem to be grasping for a relative comparison to a place we both know such as Costa Rica or Panama.

Vlad...

Damn bro...outstanding guide! Many thanks!

The prices you quote always refer to ST?

I ask because in some of the links some of the people previously commenting (Tequila disco as an example) sometimes say hours sometimes all night for the price mentioned.

There can be little doubt that Vlad has provided a very valuable service on a less frequently traveled destination for the board. What amazing detail.

This took a lot of work and effort. I am sure many will benefit from your research and contribution.

Merlin,

I found a few ladies of mixed descent and I agree that the Latin/Asian combination can be stunning.

I was impressed by the variety of looks in Peru. You'll find light-skinned and dark-skinned ladies with a full range of hair color from blonde to brunette. Asians are not common, but they can be found in Peru.

I have posted some photos from Peru before. They are in the Multimedia section, but I'll see if I can have the links added here or in the Bar topic areas.

Unfortunately, many of the photos I have already posted and those to come are less impressive than I expected. While I think I did relatively well in my selections, I'm inclined to believe that in general the ladies in Peru are not as photogenic as they are in person. I know this is often said of ladies from Asia, so I'm sure you know what I mean.

I also spent a fair amount of time and sessions in Las Cucardas and Trocadero which are very difficult to get photos from.

Comparison:

I can also now add Colombia, specifically Cartegena and Bogota, to the list for comparison purposes.

In order of preference, I would visit the following countries:
1. Colombia
2. Peru
3/4. Argentina
3/4. Guatemala
5. Costa Rica
6. Panama

I believe Colombia by far has the highest concentration of attractive ladies. Colombian ladies are my preferred of all latinas I've experienced thus far in looks and performance. As a destination, the prices are reasonable and the venues are plentiful. My only concerns with Colombia are fewer daytime options than I prefer and the general perception of it being less safe.

Peru has it all...a wide range of establishments both day and evening and price ranges with a wide variety of ladies available. I also feel most comfortable in Peru in terms of everyday life, from plentiful and inexpensive transportation to numerous 24 hour markets and internet cafes. My main complaint is the high cover charges and exit fees at the upscale nightclubs. If it wasn't for this and Colombia's dominance in average looks/performance, Peru would likely be #1 for me.

Costa Rica and Panama are much further down the scale in my opinion.

Costa Rica has a nice variety of looks with ladies from different countries, and the 24 hour Blue Marlin are big plusses, but I think there is too significant a decline in quality of looks outside of the Blue Marlin. The strip clubs are exceptions but I haven't spent much time in them due to some of the overbilling horror stories I've read.

Panama has some nice Colombian ladies in Golden Time and Le Palace, but many of the other places have inferior lineups. Waiting afterhours or until the next day for strip club dancers is frustrating. PC taxidrivers are also some of the worst I've encountered.

Regarding www.placeresdelperu.com

My understanding is that they do not have a strict policy of ensuring accurate photos, so you have a fair amount of risk of old photos or a complete bait and switch.

I do not have personal experience with them. However, I have heard that the more selective among us might have problems finding a good match through that web site. On a positive note, I've heard that the prices are fair and service is generally good.

Vladimir, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, very helpful indeed. I've always wanted to visit Machu Picchu, which may be a possibility later this year, and it certainly helps to know that there is also good mongering in Lima, where we'll be staying for a few days.

Vladimir,Thanks for a huge investment in time and effort to put this report together. It is by far the best report I have seen on Peru on any source I can find.I enjoy the daytime options myself.I plan to go to Peru in the fall and am sure I will have questions as time goes on but this will be a great resource that I will study in more detail as I prepare. One general question.Things are very spread out did you have any experience or knowledge on how good the local bus system is for getting around Lima or possible resources for information on that topic. Thanks again for the report.rbc100

I did not spend much time or effort in researching other transportation options. I did notice they have what looked like shuttles that travel set routes. They often looked overcrowded.

As a general rule, I tend to avoid public transport unless the taxis in country are overpriced. Such should not be the case in Lima unless you are going to be there for an extended period of time and/or think you'll be making many trips outside of Miraflores and San Isidro.

If you do try out the public transport, please report back. As usual be on alert as pickpocketing is common on public transport in many Latin American countries.
