Introduction, Getting There and Accommodation

If your preference is for fair-skinned maidens, Macau and the Southern Chinese City of Zhuhai is in my opinion an outstanding choice which is easily accessible and reasonably affordable.

Yes, language can prove to be challenging and a small disadvantage if you do not speak “Putong Hua” (Mandarin). However, it can be overcome if you take the trouble to have a decent phrase book with you. Once you learn some simple conversational phrases, you can reap the rewards. If you can speak Cantonese, it’s a great substitute as people in both Macau and Zhuhai are reasonably conversant in this South China dialect.

Getting There
Macau is now served directly by air from Malaysia and Bangkok by low cost carriers, Air Asia while Tiger Airways gets you there directly from Singapore. If you don’t live in these cities, you can look for bargain fares to Hong Kong. From Hong Kong, there are direct ferry services from the airport as well as the city. For those wanting to bypass Macau and seeking to access Zhuhai directly, there are direct ferries to Zhuhai from HK’s airport as well as city.

That first morning, my flight into Macau from Singapore was on time and smooth.

The choice of hotels in Macau are quite mind boggling indeed with many low cost rooms if you are budget conscious. If deluxe is your preference, you will not find Macau lagging too much. You can do a search on google or go to the following sites for more information. http://www.macautourism.gov.mo/english/hotellist.phtml

As with most places in the world, booking the hotel via a travel agent is cheaper than booking direct, a peculiarity of the travel business. The list of travel agents in Macau can be found at http://www.macautourism.gov.mo/english/touroperators_en.phtml

In my case, I did not have a choice of hotel due to a special concession of a “junket room” being made available to me. Usually, gamblers who commits and changes a certain minimum amount of chips with a casino (pre-arranged) are given rooms free-of-charge in the hotel’s casino. While I do not gamble, my contact managed to swing some weight with the Lisboa Casino people and I was thankful to get my room at the Lisboa Hotel free, inclusive of a well stocked mini bar, beer and all.

I could recommend staying at the Lisboa Hotel. This because the choice of girls in this hotel is outstanding in my eyes.

My room in the Lisboa was reasonably nice and while the bathroom was small by International Standards, the bath and how it was fitted was FIRST CLASS.

Unlike many hotels which use a shower curtain, my room in the Lisboa had a sliding glass encasement which kept the water from splashing out most effectively. It was a first class well designed fitting, The bath itself was a Jacuzzi tub with an array of shower jets which I had to spend some time to figure out how to use. I am sure some mongerers here would have been thrilled to death fornicating in that bathtub.

Crazier--

great start!

comment/correction-- the primary ( "spoken") language in Macau is Cantonese, although they are reasonably conversant in Mandarin as it is required in schools.

Did you use MOP or HK for currency? You would think being under control of the central gov. they would change over everything to yuan. All 3 trade roughtly 8:1USD.

DM,

Ah, there was a small difference between the HK Dollar and Macau Dollar and I used both as if the same since it was not significant.

On a few occasions, the receipients advised me to keep my HK dollars opting to take Macau dollars saying that I was overpaying, nice guys!

My biggest mistake was not changing my Sing dollars into RMB in Macau where I had a rate exceeding 4.85 to 1 sing dollar. In Zhuhai, the best rate I had was 4.8 to 1 sing dollar through the shopkeeper's contact when I had to pay her RMBs for the goods I purchased.

Yes, in Macau as in HK, Cantonese is the major dialect / language spoken. However, the major influx of PRC Chinese into Macau these recent years has meant that Mandarin has become significantly important in Macau and you hear many variants of "Putong Hua" all over the city. Some are quite difficult to listen to and me being truly lousy in the language struggled between Cantonese and Mandarin.

Knowing the kind of looks you like, I think you should be making a stop in Macau and Zhuhai not to far into the future. Perhaps you will love it too!

It has long been on my to-do list and I have a few chinese friends who live in HK. The one thing that detered me was I figured they were mostly cantonese speaking. Since there is a large influx from the mainland, I think your right, I need to go an polish up my very rusty mandarin. There is no doubt, the girls and their features suit my tastes perfectly.

Crazier, I checked out the Lisboa, it's great if it's free, but the costs they were quoting me was $150 U.S. to $250 U.S per night. Although the rooms were quite nice, I thought they were kinda on the small side (saw several rooms with the gals) for that hefty of a price.

By Crazier on Tuesday, May 03, 2005 - 02:07 pm:  Edit

Merlin,

At US$150 to US$250, its madness! The girls themselves are paying Macau 1100 per room split between two of them, and that's hefty too!

On the internet, their best rates for a superior room is 850 Macau dollars and that's abut 110 USD which is still murder!

Never checked what the agents are quoting but I am sure it's below this as is usual with group rates.

Many years ago, friends of mine who wanted a free holiday would go on junket holidays by committing S$10k each for chips and the holiday and rooms plus air tickets were all covered by the casino.

The non-cashable chips needed to be "cycled" in the casino to be exchanged for cash so they would bet on the same table in large amounts with one guy on red and the other on black at roulette. A small amount would be used to cover green (zero) and for a small loss on green, they would get their chips convered to cashable chips and be out of the casino once the task was achieved.

Free holidays on the casino every once in a while!

During weekdays, the best rates for Lisboa can be had at the ferry terminal (or at the airport) in Macau -- HK$600-HK$800. I learned this from a friend of mine who lives in Hong Kong and is a frequent visitor to Macau.

I stayed at Hyatt (HK$700) during my January visit. Nicer rooms than Lisboa. I'd recommend it.

Sddy,

For sure, the Lisboa at HK$600 - 800 sounds more reasonable for that hotel. At the ferry terminal / airport, it must be the travel agents hawking at that price and as I mentioned earlier, that would be the way to go.

The Hyatt at HK$700 is a good price definitely. Except that it is on Taipa Island and not the main location of Macau. It would certainly not be convenient nor agreeable to the ladies in the Lisboa to go with you for ST back to the Hyatt.

Perhaps, there was very good action places there on Taipa Island too? Your inputs would be appreciated by all.

From what I could see from my taxi, there seems to be but I did not have time to check it out.

I still would recommend Hotel Lisboa simply because of the ease of operating into the coffee shop / shopping arcade area within the same building complex. I did love their bath tub cum jacuzzi cum power jet sprays! Dont know if it's typical off all the rooms as I never saw other rooms.

The best part of course is that I never did pay for my room although it cost me a dinner with the friend who set it up! (How much can a dinner cost anyway?)

At the Lisboa, the girls there were the best looking (in my Asian eyes) in the whole of Macau outside of the KTVs and Massage Joints.

Having flown 3 and half hours from Sillypore, it did not deter me that they are asking and getting Macau 500 dollars! (provided they get pass my interview).

Some of the best lookers that I did not take were not open to my photographing them but they were there for the taking.

For those more budget conscious, the 3-star Emperor and the Fortuna will also be good choices in terms of location being near the Lisboa. I am unable to comment on the rooms and the condition as I did not check them out but both of these properties can be viewed at the hotel link I provided earlier via the Macau Tourism website.

Again, as with all hotel bookings / reservations, I always advocate buying via a travel agent for the best prices as they sell you at group rates and inclusive of breakfast too!

Crazier,

I stayed at Hyatt only because my Hong Kong buddy was staying there. As far as I know, no action there and I don't know of anything in Taipa Island (although I wouldn't be shocked if there were a few KTVs and spa joints there).

Hyatt has free shuttles to the ferry terminal every 15 minutes. The first stop on the way to the ferry terminal is Bank of China, right in front of Hotel Lisboa, and that's only a 5-minute ride. A taxi between Hyatt and Lisboa costs something like HK$20.

I always did the deeds in the girl's room at Lisboa (even when I stayed at Lisboa, on a previous trip). In fact, I don't think these girls are allowed to leave the premises, so taking any of them back to Hyatt (or any other hotel) is probably not possible.

Btw, by coffee shop are you referring to the smallish one toward the lobby, or the larger restaurant across from a little shop that sells fruits, etc.? The restaraunt is the place to be (at least it was for me).

By Crazier on Thursday, May 05, 2005 - 06:58 am:  Edit

By "coffee shop" I meant the larger one opposite the fruit shop. The other one nearer the Lobby is also interesting as many of the girls do hang out there too. I just went for the larger one with more variety of food too.

Was tempted to try the smaller one but too many of the girls I did not want to bonk were hanging around in there!

Nope, I do not think they are allowed or motivated to leave the Lisboa.

Have heard of incidents where the client is bathing and the girl steals from the client's wallet etc in their room when there are two of them so I prefer them in my room.

Yes, the Hyatt will be a pain to monger from unless there is good action at the Taipa locality which I did spot did have a few KTVs but that's not my scene really - KTVs.

do you have any advice on chinese to english electronic translators?

I think the best thing is to bring a girl to your room and just keep her naked but her clothes in the closet until you are thru with her..

By Crazier on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 - 10:04 pm:  Edit

Jack,

I have never used one myself. However, I have been with a non working Chinese girl (from PRC) when she was in Singapore and she used one very effectively. Esp when she needed to say things in English to me and needed the right sounds too.

In reverse, I tried her unit for myself (in talking with her) and vowed to buy one which I never did when our meetings dried up. Perhaps I will before this early June when I go back to Zhuhai and Macau for a short weekend! i.e. if the price is right.
