The Great Yobana
Sunday April 18th….Day 5
Slept in a bit today…it was great to be able to spend a morning relaxing after the frequent wake-up early problem. Decided on Das Berliner breakfast Had a nice traditional breakfast and decided to try to get my laptop fixed. Spoke to the people at the front desk of the hotel. They recommended a place just up about 5 blocks north of 2nd road, down on the Walking Street end.
I was very concerned about getting both myself and my laptop soaked by the revelers, so I opted to allow myself to be extorted by a Baht Bus driver. 100 bt for a 5 minute ride (in the cab). At the repair place, they told me it would be a week, and that they would have to order in a new set of Windows XP for the repair….yeh right…a week and $300 for what would probably be a pirated copy of Windows. Took the computer back to the hotel . Epi sent me an address for a place in BKK to get the repair, so I decided maybe I would wait and give that a try (Thanks, BTW, EPI, that was real cool of you). When I got back to the Hotel, there was a note in by box, from fellow CH Member Yobana. He was staying at the “Robins Nest-Ur-Raunt on Soi Diana 13. Hey! I thought. That is right next to Lólita's!
I hit an Internet joint for about a half hour and then went back to the hotel (soaked as usual).
I called Yobana’s room to see if he wanted to do Lólita's with me, but he already had a honey in his room, so I told him I would stop over after I hit Lólita's. At Lólita's I selected a gal named Nong, as Rin had been rotated to the BKK facility. The service was it’s usual high quality BBBJCIM! Got my FCC signed and headed over to the Robins Nest.
At the front counter, I was told that he had gone out. I decided to hang and get a bite to eat. I told the gal at the counter that if she saw him, to tell him I was over in the corner, eating. I ordered a Cheeseburger. What arrived was a HUGE Dbl Cheeseburger. It was great, but I could only eat about half of the burger and fries. The Robin’s Nest’ is a British joint, was clean and quaint. If it was a little closer to the action, I would want to stay there.
Once finished, I moved to one of the front landing seats. There was another American sitting there. He was from the West Coast. I did not get his name, but we chatted for about an hour and a half, as we watched the girls throw water on everyone that went by. I decided to wait until 6 p.m. to head back to the Hotel as Yobana had indicated that the default plan would be to meet at my hotel at 7 p.m. A couple of interesting things transpired as this fellow and I Sat there on the front deck observing the Songkran festivities. One was that a Thai fellow went running past shooting a very real gun in the air at chasing someone down the street. I had though he shot down the street, but this fellow I was with, said he had actually pulled it up when he fired. All the Falong with the exception of this fellow and I, ducked and ran back into the hotel. I thought this was silly as by the time he started firing, he was over half way past the hotel and clearly intent on a target farther down the street. The fellow and I just kinda chuckled. A while later, the girls at the bar across the street got a little to wrapped up in their water tossing that they forgot to see who they were splashing. Unfortunately, at that moment, 2 police on a motorcycle went by, and they caught it right in the face. They hit the breaks, came over to the gal, who was Wei-ing (sp?) profusely, took her big blue tube (this size of squirter is illegal I was told), and broke it over his leg. He did not write her a ticket but chewed her ass pretty good. All of us at the Robin’s were having a good laugh at this gals expense!
Here are a couple of low quality pics of the shooter, and one of the gals.
Also a pic or two of this totally hot waitress at Robin’s. Sadly she could not be BF’d, or I would have snagged her and shagged her in a NY minute
Finally, around 6:15 p.m. I ran back to the hotel, and cleaned up so that I would be ready when Yobana arrived at 7 pm. At about 7, Yobana called from the lobby, so down I went on down to meet him…..It was the guy I sat and talked to for all that time over at Robin’s. We cracked up. Just goes to show you how careful some of us are when we meet strangers while on mongering trips. It was hilarious!
We walked down Beach Road to Walking Street. Just as we arrived there, this Thai guy jumps out and squirts me all over the chest. I had already had enough of this crap, and it was well after the time everyone was to stop this shit. It shoved him in the chest and shook my finger at him, pointing at my watch to indicate the festivities were over for the day, using a very stern voice. He throws his hands up in the air, “I not know, I not know”. Yeh, right, Falongs all know the rules and the locals don’t? Bullshit. We walked off. As it turns out we had to dodge a number of squirters right there on walking street.
We went first to Peppermint Patty’s. It was CLOSED! Closed? WTF?, so we went to Happy A-Go-Go. IT was Closed! Huh? What is going on? No one seemed to know why they were closed. So we went to The Dollhouse. It was only so-so, so we tried a place that Yobana is a regular at. He knew a lot of the girls. There were a couple 7-8’s but on the average they were only mediocre. I can’t remember the name of the place. Yobana, what was it called? Anyway, the talent was only so-so, but the personalities in here were great.
After that we went up into Shark. This place was just plain annoying. We had not even gotten a drink and the staff was forcing their way onto my lap asking where I was staying and did I want company. I tried several times politely to decline, but they just got pushier. Finally, I emphatically waved at them to leave me alone, and they left. Yobana seemed to be having a similar problem, so we finished our drink quickly and beat feet outta there.
We went over to Supergirl. Not crowded when we arrived, and there was a lady attendant in the men’s room who saw to your needs and kept the place spotless. I was impressed. As we sidled up to the stage bar, we both made comments that his place had the highest volume of hot chicks of any place either of us had been in Pattaya. There were easily 8-10 girls who rated above an 8. I was shocked. They also had frequent, high quality specialty show, ranging from black light ribbon dancing to 3 couple doing lesbian acts. HOT! I was hard pressed to decide, but finally picked an adorable little spinner. #45 Nok. She was smoking’! Yobana agreed that she was definitely one of the finer women in Pattaya. I paid the BF, and said my good byes to Yobana, and Nok and I headed off to the crib. She was really something. The only complaint I had, was that she had a freshly pierced naval, and was very sensitive about it. Any time I touched anywhere near her navel, she would jump. Once we settled down, and she got over her fear of he apparently enjoyed herself, because we sessioned twice even though it was ST. having her belly button tweaked, we had a great time. Nok was 18, about 4’10” and probably 90 lbs, with concrete shoes on. We had a good ol’ time! Would not allow pics, as she said her Falong boyfriend would be mad if he found out she was working while he was gone (I gather he lives there). Oh, well, I had a blast, so I did not really care. Spent about 3 hours and then she headed out and I crashed. It had been quite a day!
Thoughts about Yobana…He is a very reserved fellow. Has been to Thailand several times, and was quite at ease. He is an intellectual, but has found a way to be very charming to the ladies at the A-Go-
Go’s. He was a fine fellow, and I would enjoy mongering with him again some day. Thanks, Yobana for the company and tour of Walking Street, it was a lot of fun

Good report! And thanks for the beach pictures, now I know what it looks like--three days wasn't enough time for me to get past the distractions and spend time at the beach (I often have the same problem in Rio).

That waitress is indeed ron maak - very hot. Too bad you gotta eat British food to get close to her.
Although it calms down after 6PM, the water foolishness still continues - especially around the bar areas. Just one more reason I avoid going to Thailand during Songkran now.
Also you just described another reason not to piss of young Thai assholes- more than a few do carry guns and will foolishly use them.
As for your computer - The one thing I always bring is not a voltage adapter but a good quality surge protector. The electricity in Thailand and especially AC sucks and power surges are not uncommon.

Hi Val, it was a real pleasure meeting you and I agree you should NEVER judge a book by its cover. Both you and Bahtman have strong and distinctive regional US accents, but only the foolish judge people by accents. Bahtman is absolutely hilarious (along with Epi) but very smart too, he uses his Southern drawling accent to superb effect...
"This sweeeeety was sooo subliiiime in that sensuous situaaation...sooo surreeeal." The Southern "S" comes shinning through!
BTW the "Awesome Epi" does a wicked Bahtman accent! When Epi does a Bahtman impersonation even Bahtman thinks that's him talking! I can honestly say that meeting Epi, Bahtman and Val had me splitting my sides laughing at times. Proud to class you as my friends, haven't laughed that much in a while.

So my strong advise to you all is not to take your laptops with you to SEA as the power system is very dangerous for western equipment. Oh well, another $2000.00 lesson learned.
comment: I've been going to asia for many years for living (china), work (singapore/PI), and play (indo, PI, LoS, singapore, china) and have had my laptop with me every time without one problem occuring. Think how many guys here bring electronics with them (cameras, digivid, 'puters, etc), most of which are more electonically sensative than a laptop. It sounds as though you had a surge event, which is easily protected against with A surge protector.
Thai is one of the most melodic languages I have ever heard.
comment: I've heard kymer takes the cake.
Having arranged for an upgrade to Business Class on this trip, I was aboard and comfortably relaxing on the 757.
comment: what carrier did you fly on? You paid for a full fare ecomony?
Can’t say enough good things about the Bose Noise Canceling Headphones, they are awesome
comment: I have a pair of bose and they are good. Upper-end Sony and much more compact Sure's (I may be splurging on these babies) are a bit cheaper and in some cases equal if not best bose performance. Just a thought if your Bose croaks on ya.
Ooops! here is the afore mentioned pic of the Japanese Toilet...Sorry
comment-- . The last time I was in NRT, I had just finished taking a dump and was washing my hands. I then hear this loud grumble from a stall from an apparent newbie, "JEEEESUZZZZ christ! how the fuck an I suppose to take a shit in here!!?" I was laughing my ass off as I left the CR.

comment: hrmmm, I'll take that as a challenge to set her straight next time!
It struck me as a little funny to go through this ritual as you step on stage ...
comment: it's only odd because your assuming your perception of morality is important to bargirls and your making the assumption that her spiritual faith is at odds with her sexuality and means to survive.

comment: I second that LOL and ROTFL.

"I had already had enough of this crap, and it was well after the time everyone was to stop this shit".
LOL! This was so funny! Hey Val....I know your temper and this is why the above incident was so funny!
I remembered how upset you got in Rio when that shoe shine boy would not leave my shoes alone, when we were 'attempting to have a conversation at the beach that day in Rio....This little refused to take "no" for answer and just kept trying to shine my shoes with his wax.....but, man...you literally went off that little kid!
And after listening to your stern voice, he must have gotten the message, because he didn't bother us anymore. LOL!
I definitely do not want to go Pattaya during that period of time.....I know some people love all that water shit, but I'll past on it!
Did you go to Superbaby or Supergirl? Both go gos are right next to each other and both are nice, but I think Superbaby's is the BOMB!
As previously mentioned, awesome report! BTW....I'm glad you indicated that your July dates are open for a possible Rio trip, as it would be nice to hook up again.
Also, I just spoken to Cubanut, who is headed to Medellin, Columbia in two weeks and will be staying at the Playboy Penthouse. He also good friends with one of the owners. With this in mind, I may also split my time in Rio and also do a week or so in Medellin, Columbia.....that is, depending on Cubanut's feedback! Thereafer, I'll hit Thailand for a couple of weeks.
Keep the reports coming......

Val: Yeh, your comment makes sense, I guess I should revise the comment to more along the lines of "So my strong advise to you all is to be intelligent than I, in your planning when you take your laptops with you to SEA as the power system is very dangerous for western equipment when operated by a foolish Falong who failed to take a simple surge suppressor along"
Thai is one of the most melodic languages I have ever heard.

Val: Khmer is Cambodia, right? I am hoping to make the trip there to see Ankor Wat in the near future. If khmer takes the cake, I will greatly enjoy listening to the most melodic language in the world, that I also cannot understand, LOL. Thanks for the insight DM.
Having arranged for an upgrade to Business Class on this trip, I was aboard and comfortably relaxing on the 757.

Val: American. I used FF miles.I only use them for upgrades on LONG International flights, when my back would punish me for the duration if I rode in coach.

Val: Actually I made no assumptions. I did not say there was anything wrong with it, or that I did not understand it, I only said that it struck me as funny, which it did. It is the first country I have been to that has this has happened with any frequency. I now understand a little bit more about the Thai culture (though no where near as much as I will need to function well there), to understand that in that culture, very few of my Western preconceptions apply
Thanks for the comments DM. Hope to buy you a beer somewhere in SEA some day!
Priew, Buddy!
I was pretty sure that it was Supergirl. Maybe Yobana will jump in here and correct me if I am wrong. It was the one downstairs from Sharks on the same side of Soi Diamond, it that helps.
My bad temper? Do you really think I have a bad temper? Do you really feel I went off on that kid? Hmmm....I hope this is not the impression I give. I don't consider myself hotheaded...I REALLY hope I am not in DENIAL! I did tell that kid no, 5 or 6 times in an increasingly stronger voice before I barked, but I did not think I went off on him....this is not good. I cannot afford to be a hothead in my lines of work...
Let me know as soon as you book your Rio flight. Maybe we can split the cost of an upper end 2 bedroom apt?
Good to hear from you as usual my friend.

Val.
1. yes-- cambo.
2. The Sure's aren't cheap-- I think they run around 200, but better than bose's $300. I have listened to them tho, and they sounded AWESOME for buds. As for NC on planes, I've yet to try them out, I'll let you know when I do.
3. I asked which carrier out of curiosity-- when flying AA to SEA, I fly deep discount and have terrible luck with upgrades unless it is just the hop to NRT (their metal).
5. Beer in SEA, boy o boy does that have a wonderful ring to it!!!! keep up the great reporting meanwhile!

Valterreekian,
Outstanding report buddy. Glad you had an excellent time. What's next on the travel agenda? Is Prague still on the back burner? Perhaps we'll meet up then. Bad Mr Frosty finally did move there. Even saw him live in action once (you know what I mean?).
As for myself, I'll be in Medellin in less than two weeks now. Also taking a side trip to Cartagena. ANd you know me, I'll be checking out the P4P everywhere it's available.
Take Care,
Cubanut

DM > 3. I asked which carrier out of curiosity-- when flying AA to SEA, I fly deep discount and have terrible luck with upgrades unless it is just the hop to NRT (their metal).
Yeh, the one downer here is that although I can upgrade from Dallas to Narita, the Narita to BKK trip is in coach as it because even though it is a code share and has an AA flight number, it is on JAL equipment and so the Business Class seat is unavailable. That kind of sucks. But I can handle the 5 hours from Narita to BKK, it is the 15 hours from DFW to Narita that kills me!
CubaNut! Hey buddy! Yes, I am heading to Prague on the 2nd of September for about 10 days. Would love it if you came! I am attempting to arrange Rio in July to run concurrent with Priew's trip. Not willing to do Columbia at his point. Would be profiled immediately. I serve on the Board of Directors of several companies that have directors with access to profile info, and they would flog me with it. On one board (A biometric security systems development company) I serve with a former director of the CIA. He is a hardcore fellow (a bit of a putz if you as me).
Eventually, I will establish a legitimate business practice in the region (probably through one of my Costa Rica based companies), and then I will be able to make justification, and avoid the sticky situations
Any chance you will be in Rio in July?

val, returned home may 19 after 3 months in thailand. i think the go go bar was supergirl but with 28 go go bars in pattaya one tends to lose track. the bar i hang out in is champion a go go on walking street. took a lady named rossukon {rose} out of there and spent 45 days with her, even went so. thailand to stay with mama and papa and learned all about rubber trees. as for robins nest-ur-raunt i stay there roe 40 days off and on and highly recommend it as it is the most monger friendly place in pattaya. the owner is robin, 42 year old englishman who mongers himself. food is great as guys ride their motor bikes there just to eat and oggle the waitress's. robin has instructed nam the manager not hire anyone uglier than mod and mod is hot. when rose came down for breakfast wearing her short short's and halter top all eyes were on her, when robin's lady [jet] came down nobody was looking at rose including me. 10's across the board. we were in the atlantic bar when robin spotted her and he imediatly bar fined her for 30 days {9,000 bhat}. if anyone is in pattaya now, head for robin's for breakfast. val, i enjoyed the time we spent together and hope we can do it again, how about a few days in tijuana. i am driving down next week to see if monica is still there. i will write a trip report after i get my affairs in order.

Hey Yobana! Great to hear from you buddy. Cannot really fit Tijuana in this year. I have Costa Rica in June, Rio in July, Prague in September and am trying to swing SEA in November or Dec.
Maybe next year though. Great to see you posting buddy!

Val,
Can you explain the FCC signing at Lólita's?
By Valterreekian on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 - 05:46 pm: Edit |
Dandelion, it is just my acronym for "Frequent Cummer's Card"!
You ask for the card on your first visit. If you get all 10 punches signed off within a 30 day period, your next one is free. It is good at either location (BKK or Pattaya).
I had a great time getting mine filled!

I'm only half way through this report and all I can say again is, "Can I be your wingman?" sounds like you had a great time but I'm a little worried about the language problem you encountered. Do many people over there speak English? Thanks for the info and entertaining report. I'll try to finish it tomorrow.
By Valterreekian on Friday, July 15, 2005 - 06:23 am: Edit |
Thanks, Jaguar. The language thing there is a much bigger issue than it is in say Brazil. Few people speak any english. Some of the girls speak a little. Generally English is only spoken by tourist related services. Retaurants, hotel management etc. I did not find it a big enough problem to keep me from returning though
