It was the year 2001 as I continued to have more success at my job I was slowing being moved more and more into a sales role. I got a client in Tucson Arizona. After closing a deal with my client he wanted to go to strip club. I am constantly amazed by how many males like going to strip clubs. I went to a few in college, and thought it was the biggest rip off any place. I paid a girl a lot of money and I couldn’t touch her or go home with her. I thought these guys are really losers. I could go to a regular bar meet a girl and get some good groping and kissing on the dance floor and had a better than average chance of taking her back to my place.
I pretty much avoided strip clubs from then on, until I started getting into sales. It just became part of the job to go to a strip club and blow some cash on the client for air dances. It was actually one of the things I liked the least about my job. I know people say strip clubs are degrading to women, but I always thought they were degrading to men. What idiot wants to pay a girl a lot of money to see her dance sexy, get him aroused, and then walk out with a big boner. It seemed really degrading to me. If I am paying you to get me aroused then at least get me off. Otherwise save me the pain of getting me aroused and the money I just wasted.
Anyway my client told me we were going to Nogales for the strip club and it was an hour away. I had no idea where Nogales was or what happens in the strip clubs there. But I could tell by how he said it, that he thought it was special. So I gave a manly grunt and said I have heard a lot of good things about Nogales and always wanted to try it out. He seemed satisfied with that answer so we left. We made small talk but did not talk about the strip clubs as he seemed to assume I knew what was going on I just played along. I have learned a long time ago to grin and bear it, and since I don’t enjoy air dances I usually buy most of the dances for my clients and they seem to like this. My primary focus was on how long we would have to stay at the club before we could leave so he would feel like he got good value, and I hoped we wouldn’t get back too late. I was a little annoyed that we were driving an hour to go to a strip club. I thought they must have strip clubs in Tucson, but I knew it is foolish to upset a client, and figured he must have a pet girl he liked at this club.
As we saw signs for the international border I got my first understanding that we were going to Mexico. I knew almost nothing about Mexico, except I had heard of Tijuana. It was near California and my brother had gotten his credit card stolen there. My brother told me Tijuana was not a nice place and did not recommend a visit. We crossed the boarder and I was amazed that we didn’t have to go through customs. We headed directly to Lord Black, as he said that was the best club. I actually can speak a few Spanish sentences as I studied Spanish in school. My client was amazed by this as he didn’t speak any Spanish. I soon found out it was not necessary to speak Spanish. I did ask a few girls some simple questions like their ages and where they were from, and how many sisters they had. Sort of third grade small talk.

Ah 2001. That was the "golden age" of Nogales. Good times to be had. There were only five clubs around back then and Lord Black was the best.

Nah,
The Golden Age of Nogales was pre-2000, and definatley pre-2001 (pre-911). Privados at $8, bbbj @20, FS @ 30.
Ok we only had Lipstick, Cherries, and Obessions, but it was cheap and the girls were pretty good too. Not as many hotties as there would be later, and the clubs were not as fancy, but there were more than a few lookers, and at the price, you could experiment with a lot. More than a few of the girls would also do some floor shows at the other bars that would have dancers once or twice a week. These were great as they would let you take them out of the bar when their shift was over, or even before, to one of the cheap hotels in the area. I never paid more than 40 for about an hour. The problem there was getting a cheap hotel, ( <$20) which were always full on some nights, so I'd end up getting a more expensive hotel room for more than I paid the girl.
When LB opened and became a great success, it jacked up the price for privados and everyone followed. What killed the goose though, were the owners who got greedy and the City, who under pressure from U- fueled "citizen groups" got the Nogales City council to ban privados.
This might have been a great opportunity, had the owners of the bars allowed "take out", instead, they greedily charged out of scale amounts for FS in secret rooms. So people stayed away in droves, including me, and the clubs are still clinging to an outmoded system and some are just barely clinging, (Rio's) and some are gone (Lipstick). The summer, normally a slow time will be the litmus test this year.
I expect lower prices and a lot more bending the rules.
