I have never written a report before so please bear with me on this. I'm writing this because I have some information that I don't know where else to put except in a report.
I was planning to fly to Bogota to have dental work done(a root canal)and to see my novia Andrea again. I had also planned to make a side trip to Medellin for some mongering as I knew I wouldn't get a chance in Bogota. I flew into Miami on Delta late Saturday(the 14th) and spent the night at a hotel near the airport. I considered calling a girl from eros(which is a great site for US escorts nationwide) but by the time I got settled in I was too tired and couldn't see paying $200 or more for sex when I could get it much cheaper in Colombia. The next day(the 15th) I flew into Medellin on the evening flight with Avianca and arrived in Medellin about 7:15 local time. My flight came in to Medellin about the same time as a another flight from Texas so immigration was very crowded and took about 45 minutes to clear. Customs was much easier though as they had set up separate lines for each flight. I had a driver from the hotel(the Torres Poblado) waiting for me outside and I was off to the hotel.
The weather was raining but it was a nice cool rain. The hotel was very nice but the night clerk spoke absolutely no English and my Spanish is limited which caused minor difficulties but no real problems. I cleaned up and headed out with the addresses to Face Dos and Club San Diego in my pocket. This is where I had my only problems. I couldn't reach the drivers that were listed on earlier reports and had the clerk call a taxi for me. He spoke no English and wasn't very familiar with the clubs. We went to the address for Face Dos and discovered it was closed. We then drove to Club San Diego and discovered it was closed too. At this point I'm getting a little desperate and tell the driver "chicas"? We drive around for a bit and see two streetwalkers, one of them looks like a man and the other looks to be maybe 12 years old. We continue driving and he asks another cab for directions and off we go.
We end up at a club(which I think is in the city center area) named Akhoupous(?). That is not the exact name but the spelling is similiar to that. I pay a 10,000 peso cover charge which included a free beer and the doorman sits me at a table next to a small stage next to a girl. Her name is Juliet and I will be posting pictures of her shortly. The club is fairly small with a small stage in the center where a girl will dance a striptease in a 3 song set. The club had about 15 girls working. There were no real beauties but no fat dogs either. I talked to Juliet in my limited Spanish(she spoke no English) and to 2 black girls who came over. One of the girls spoke some English and she helped interpret. Juliet initially would not go to the hotel with me but she was happy to go upstairs for a session for 70,000 pesos. After our session she was very comfortable with me and agreed to go back to the hotel for the night. We had a great evening together and I got numerous pictures and even some video taping of her. I gave her a sampler box of perfume that I had bought and 85,000 pesos for her to buy a cell phone with. We went out for breakfast and I then had to leave for the airport for my flight to Bogota. I spent a week in Bogota but didn't do any mongering there as I spent it with Andrea, my longtime novia.
I do have some things to mention about Bogota though. As I mentioned earlier I had to have a root canal done. I had it done over a three day period and a total cost of between $275 to $300 for the root canal, crown, x-rays and medication. He also filled a small cavity that I had. The dentist did a fantastic job and I would highly recommend him to anyone interested. The second thing I'd like to mention concerns my flight out. I had a buddy pass from Delta for my return trip. If you travel to Bogota on one of these pack very lightly. The plane has a weight limit and will usually not take standby passengers if you have checked in bags even if the plane is not full. They also asked me who I had gotten my standby ticket from. Last but not least, I had made the mistake of flying with sneakers. When I was boarding the plane they saw my sneakers and told me that I could not fly first class on a standby ticket with sneakers. They pulled my ticket and switched it with someone with an ordinary ticket. I then boarded the plane with no further problems and arrived back in Atlanta that evening(the 24th).

Admin: Report split into paragraphs and photos integrated

Hey Tim,
Congrats on posting your first report. The only thing I would suggest is using paragraphs - makes it easier to read.
Sounds like you hit a double-whammy at the Torre Poblado - the afternoon/evening receptionist, Ana Maria, speaks great English, but I think she's off Tues/Wed. And the driver I like to use, Juan is her husband, so they probably take the same days off.
I'm also guessing you were there on a Mon/Tues/Wed if those two strip clubs were closed - that's a shame.
And I'm guessing the small strip club you went to was in Centro and man, you got balls going in there. I cruised that area and saw a bunch of small clubs and I made sure the doors were locked passing through that street. And you went inside, alone. Ahh, the power of pussy!
Those Centro girls must really get their asses kicked - they're all afraid to leave the area - and I'm afraid to stay in the area. Ironic! But once they figure you're not a psycho, they'll met you anywhere.
I got some very professional dental work done in Cartagena - guys who need cosmetic or non-emergency work done should definately consider getting it done in Colombia. My dentist's office could have well been in NYC - no 3rd world setting there.
Nice first post!

Tim, nice report. Delta sounds overly harsh about the sneakers and all. We also arrived in MDE on a Sunday, which coincided with a monday-National holiday and many places were closed. I think MDE is a big weekend town and made a note to visit during the weekend and to check out all those clubs such as Islas, Mangos etc. the next trip. Even without those clubs, we still had a blast.

All airlines have this policy - if you are traveling on a non-revenue (or employee) ticket, and you want to be in first - then dress the part (their opinion, not mine).

Tim,
Thanks for the post. Can you pass the Dentist's info? Does he speak good English? I go to Bogota often for work and would really like to get some dental work done there.
Cheers, Rich
