Well, I needed to make a hop down to CR to check on some business elements with my partner there. I decided to take both of my kids as they have friends there and have not been down to CR for about a year and a half. I knew this would have a dampening effect on my mongering, but since I was going to be up in the Puriscal area where my house and office are, I would not be having a great deal of free time anyway.

We arrived and my partner took us up to our house in the mountains. My home there is a quaint little thing (1100 s.f.) with a killer view. It is one of the few places on earth where I can actually shut my brain off and spin down a bit, so I treasure my time there.

Here are a few pics of the house and the view:

After a few days of work, I decided to take the kids to the beach. We did one day in Quepos and one day in Jaco.

On the way to Quepos, you get to cross the bridges that are left over from WWII. They were built by the Army Corps. Of Engineers I am told. They are made out of railroad RAILS! They are a little spooky to cross as they look like they are falling apart as you cross them!

Another bridge that I always cross on the way through Orotina is an old suspension bridge. It undulates and sways as you cross it. This bridge is quite safe though as they have replaced the cables and boards in the past few years.

We stopped to see the beaches at several points on the way down.

We arrived at Quepos. We went to Manuel Antonio National Park and got some time on the beach there. It is beautiful!

Stayed at the Best Western downtown. About $65 per night. Don’t know if it is girl friendly as I did not have the opportunity to find out there. I don’t even know if there are any P4P options there.

On the way back to Jaco, we stopped to see the Crocodiles sunning themselves on the river’s edge. Some were as long as 14’ in length!

Back to Jaco beach. We stayed at the Hotel Cocal and Casino, right on the water. Nice, girl friendly and clean. Has a small casino and passable restaurant, a nice pool and you can walk onto the beach. Rooms are about $65 per night.

I have also stayed at the Copacabana Suites and Hotel. An average beach (Jaco beaches are not the cleanest around), fair eating facility, girl friendly near the north end of the strip. About $60 per night.

Also there is the all inclusive Best Western. Great place, great beach access, great food, great rooms…..Not at all girl friendly. Also pricey.
