Noi would have stayed in bed all morning, but I wanted to go to the gym, so after sessioning we showered, she left and I went down to work out. The first day was over, but it was a good start.

The Solitaire Gym is not the best in the world, it could do with some more free weights and some more room, but I worked out with the instructor, who seemed genuinely thankful that he had someone to train with. He certainly helped me a lot. Feeling great, I showered then went to Soi 19. I had made an appointment from the UK to have my teeth checked out and had to be there at 2pm. The place is called The Bangkok Dental Spa and it lived up to its name as they provide massage as part of the dental treatment. I found that the whole ethos of this place was to make you relaxed while the unpleasantries of the dental work are being carried out. I was impressed by the staff, the place and the equipment. After some x-rays and a consultation I was given a treatment plan and costing for all the work. Now I had only planned for this much, but was so impressed that when they suggested they start work right away I said yes.

I will not go into detail about the treatment only to say that I left at 8pm 6 hours later, suffering a little from the long sessions in the chair, but impressed by the skill and after 3 dentists that worked on me and also by the fact that I had 2 foot massages during the surgery and an oil massage after it was finished. Now I knew why this was called a Dental Spa.

After showering I went to Angel Witch and had a drink with Dave and mentioned my previous night with Noi. I explained that I liked her, which was unusual for me, but I still felt there too much missing to bar fine her again. I explained that although she “performed her duties” well, if I was to see her again I needed something more. Noi did come over and we drank and chatted but I was feeling off sorts after the dentists and I could not drink because of the painkillers so I decided for my first time ever that I would have an early night.

I wandered back to the beer garden, had a drink and was immediately tortured about ringing the GF. I suppose I was feeling a little sorry for myself and wanted a little TLC and in the end I succumbed to the temptation. I was greeted by the sweet voice of the GF, who was extremely happy to hear from me, even though she thought I was in the UK. After convincing her I was in BKK she sounded even happier, but I as had woken her up and she had university early in the morning I told her not to bother coming over tonight, but I would see her the next afternoon after she had finished university. She told me she had some news for me, but wanted to tell me face to face, so I went to bed before 11pm, looking forward to seeing her.

Well if you got this far without being bored I apologise, this is the only day I ever stayed in LOS without having any action after breakfast, hopefully it will be the last.

On a stay in Pattaya last year, I had a problem with my teeth. Went to Pattaya International Hospital on Soi 4 and saw the dentist there. She discovered my problem was with the toothpaste I use (sensitive teeth). After checking me out she found a cavity that she took care of for me. I think it ran around $10 or so, but it's been a while...

I paid 32,000 baht for a crown, 20,000 for a couple of inlays, 15,000 for laser whitening, 1,400 for x-rays and consultation.

This is cheaper than cosmetic dentistry in the UK, but I am not sure if it is good value here. I would be interested in any comments.
