Sadly my 6 a.m. wake-up call did not arrive. The alarm clock was broken, and I had not brought my travel clock. The Upgrade to Business that I had put in for was unavailable, so it was a less comfortable trip back, but I made it alright and am now home with my little ones, safe and happy.
Upon reflection, I think that I will probably only be coming back to Costa Rica when on Holiday with my kids, or for work related reasons. The drinks are half again as expensive, and contain half again as much ice, the girls are even less friendly and genuine, the experiences, though there, are getting harder and more time consuming to find. There is even a new law that says that you can only drive your car in the city limits of San Jose every other week day. It is based on the even/odd liscense plate number and is designed to reduce traffic and pollution. On the whole though, Costa Rica is a faded shade of its past greatness and it is sad.
Thank God there are some Colombian women in Costa Rica on occasion.
Carpe’ Diem!

Val: Great reporting, thanks for the info. Not to knock Costa Rica...but after 15 trips there in about two years I decided to venture off the reservation and went to Medellin. Maybe it was just the newness of it all, but I was blown away. Medellin is a beautiful city, and the babes there are a cut above anywhere else I have ever been. In fact I went there because most of the really gorgeous babes I saw in CR were from Colombia, and of those...the hottest ones were from Medellin.
I am still going back to CR but only because I left a novia behind there and she still rocks my world. But frankly if not for her, I would switch my allegiance to MDE in a heart beat.
I still think CR is a great place for rookies because it is so easy to get laid there for a reasonable price. MDE is still like the wild west to me in many ways and you have to work for it, but My God what potential is there. I just hope more gringos don't find out and spoil it.
As for Costa Rica's future...that remains to be seen. It will always have a special place in my heart and I will never forget some of the most incredible experiences of my life in that country. I could write a book about it...but then again...what happens in Costa Rica should stay in Costa Rica.
