Next we went to Lidice (Pronounced Leed-Gee-See). I had never even heard of this town, and I have spent a great deal of time studying WWII era events.

These facts and figures are what was presented by the museum exhibition.

Basically as an act of retribution for the assasination of one of his top commanders in Prague (Reich Protector Reinard Heydrich), Hitler ordered 3 towns to be utterly destroyed in a single day.

The women and children were taken away to the school for the night.

All 173 of the towns men were lined up against a barn and executed. Each recieved two shots to the chest and one to the head. The non-commisioned officer in charge at the time then walked past each body putting an additional bullet through each man's head.

Hitler ordered that all buildings in these towns were to be burnt down and then ordered that the SS demolition teams would blow the foundations apart and scatter the debris. He further ordered that the names of the towns be struck from all maps and reference and be lost forever. 3 foundations have been unearthed. All that remains of the nearly 200 buildings that were once there.

203 Women of Lidice (age 16 and over),were then separated from their 84 children and sent off to concentration camps. Suprisingly 143 of them survived the War.

Of the 84 children, 3 were deemed to be suitable for Germanization and were sent of to new families in Germany, where they were given German names. Two of the three have never been found, the third did return to Lidice after the war.

The remaining 81 were sent to prison camps. They were moved to the extermination camp Chemlo (about 45 miles away) and then it is believed that Adolph Eichmann ordered them all gassed on the day of their arrival. Murdered along with them were the children of the other two towns that Hitler had ordered destroyed, Lezaky and Lodz.

Where the town once stood there is now a large memorial park, with the new town built to the side.

This beautiful park setting houses a monument to the lost. It was sad. But the one that really got me was the monument dedicated to the lost children of Lidice. Below are a couple of pics of this monument. As I looked at it I was very moved. I have two small ones at home, and I could almost see their faces on these little ones, who's fate was already decided, and who had not concept of the horrible fate that await them.

I am sure glad that we do not have to live in this kind of madness. There are still some places in the world that do things along these lines, and some of us have traveled to them in our search for the great lay. We should be happy we have such freedom.

I am going to see Ankor Wat next month, but think for now I will pass on the killing fields.

Val, you start out doggy style (in Portuguese called de cuatro). You want her legs to be inside your legs, then you tell her to (de ta), which means to lie down.

But beforehand, I make sure there is a pillow nearby so that she can tuck it under her pelvis/tummy, to help raise her butt up.

Actualy, this was with her on her back. We were in missionary, and then without pulling out, she her put her legs together. When I toured Prague, I also visited Krakow, Poland. The city is like a mini-Prague in that the architecture is old and interesting, and it survived WWII generally intact. The most troubling day was when I then went to Auschwitz, and like you what really got to me were the memories of the children who were murdered there as captured by some of the exhibits.

In addition there is a Jewish part of town in Krakow where a few Jews still live; rather hard to know how they can go on living there given the history, but a few were still playing Klezmer music at some of the restaurants (actually, there were very few who were old enough to have been around during WWII, but I got the impression that some who were living there probably are their children or other relatives).

Also, on the other side of the river is the Schindler factory, which I walked past at night; I'm not sure it is open to the public as it still is used as some sort of factory. In any event, given what you have posted here, you might be interested in visiting Krakow, i.e., assuming your plans are still flexible. You can get there from Prague by the night train, although even if you purchase a private room with a bed it is not very comfortable.

Actually, I did not go there to visit Auschwitz, the Jewish section of town, or the Schindler factor, but once there I began to find out about the city, its location near Aushwitz, and needed to explore some of these places.

There are some mongering opportunities in Krakow, but not alot, and mongering certainly is not the primary reason to go there. But if you decide to visit, you won't be entirely deprived of mongering but likely diverted.

I would like to go to Krakow one day, but I would have to tack it onto a real mongering destination to make the overall experience good. Maybe I could add on Frankfurt and a few FKK's to tie it all together.

I added Dusseldorf to my itinerary above, as well as Amsterdam. Went to one FKK in the Dusseldorf area and a couple of other clubs not unlike the clubs in Sao Paulo (which, in turn, are somewhat similar to the termas in Rio). I would love to check out Frankfurt and the surrounding FKKs one of these days too.
