I would really appreciate it if those of you in town could send me the following information about the major termas:

Entry fee, and if it is reduced or waived if you session (or session before a certain time)

Session costs: what are the options and costs for differing lengths of time and differing rooms?

What are the days and hours of operation?

The "majors" are: 65, Aeroporto, Centaurus, L'uomo, Monte Carlo, Quatro por Quatro, Rio Antigo and Solarium.

If you pay the tourist charge, it is R$20 on top of the numbers that I quoted. There is also another credit/debit card fee that some may have to pay. The total can go up to R$310, from what I understand.

I am ashamed to admit it, but recently I have gone up for one hour in order to win favor with the garotas. It is close to double the 40 minute session rate, although I do not know the exact numbers.

cent is 325 up front if you pay by credit card. the last time i was there i paid up front and wanted to leave without sessioning (had an emergency) and they would not credit me back any money (i went to the front desk, said i had to leave, they asked me to talk to the house mother about getting a credit so i did and she said they would not give me the credit so i ended up giving it to a gdp who i knew and she gave me 80% of what she got which was still far below the 325). if you are more familiar with the house mother then some of you guys could probably get the credit.

the second thing, with regard to pao duro, cheap, when i pronounce it it sounds like hard dick (pau duro) so i was in a restaurant one time with a girl and a guy and i asked for more pao the guy who was with me said maybe you want some more dick but i just want bread, lol. anyway, the ao sounds i still have a problem with.

There are two ways to learn how to pronounce the nasal "ão" dipthong.

The first method is to make a sound close to "ohhmm", like you're doing some new-age meditation or something. That's not really the correct sound, but by using the drawn out "hhmmm" sound, you can try the second sound: "awom", one syllable, flat and drawn out. You don't get the full "m" sound at the end, start it and then stop as you do for the usual "n" and "m" nasal sounds.

The second method is what my tutor told me they actually have kids do in kindergarten in Brasil. Hold your nose and say "pow", it's pretty damn close to the correct pronunciation. The holding the nose trick works for all the nasal sounds. If you actually have a stuffy nose, so much the better.

If you don't know the n and m nasal sounds, you're fucked anyways if you're trying to speak Portuguese.

the way i understand it, it is only 290 but you pay 310 up front with the remaining 20 as a pre-payment against your consumption, but i don't think they are in the routine of returning it to you if you don't spend it.

No, the 310 includes the R$20 for the taxi fee - regardless if the taxi driver comes in or not. For gringos, R$310 gets you in the door and one 40-minute session with the piranha of your choice.

I've never seen a place in Rio where you prepay for consumption.

Hey Bwana, I've never read your guide, so I'm not sure if it's in there, but could you please explain to us how we can get free lifetime admission to 4x4? Other than Don and probably a few other guides, I believe one truly devient safado has this very generous priviledge.

I was in L'uomo yesterday afternoon. I arrived a few munutes after five. Entry fee was R$50, and a 40 minute session in a cabine was R$120.

I would have liked to have been able to hang around to see if anyone else was there, but my wife was in Bara shopping at the time, so this was basically a hit and run mission!

Hopefully, I can make it to rio alone one of these days, and meet some of you guys.

I've been coming to Rio for MANY years, and to 4X4 for most of that time. I dragged along many a guy from the boards for their first trip to Centro (there was a time when a lot of guys were scared to death of Centro, and there were hardly any gringos to be found in places like 4X4 and 65!). One of those guys I eventually talked into coming along was Donald. Donald, of course, loved the place and started bringing lots of clients along. He mentioned to the manager, who I knew pretty well, that I was responsible for much of the gringo traffic, and mentioned my Guide, and the manager then extended the lifetime free entry offer.

Hey, my favorite dive place, conveniently located at the corner of Siq. Campos and NS Copa, is 583 NS Copa, #203. It's opposite the little micro puta-bar that Brazil Specialist used to hang in. It's a dump, but the owner is a nice guy and the girls there always seem to have great attitudes. I want to say that an hour - which always seems to run 70 minutes or so, imagine that - is about R$120 total? It's set up more like a massage place than anything, and the unit I've been with a couple of times there actually gives a great massage. She's an amiga of a couple of girls who work down at Termas SweetMesquite, but for whatever reason likes the dive place over a regular terma.

They usually have about 3-4 garotas to choose from. The showers are in a little room with the washing machine, and it's a real dive, but good people and good service. There's supposedly a sauna in the back, and there is a very small little locker room, but again, treat it like a massage parlor.

Bwana, having spent half of last week, I can say with some authority that the current prices at 65 are as follows.

40 min cabine: R$235
60 min suite: R$295
60 min super suite: R$395

There are really two varieties of the basic 60 minute suite. Old and new, with the newer and nicer suites only open after 6pm. It's not a bad idea to ask your girl for one of the newer 60 minute suites as, minus the jacuzzi, it's almost as nice as the super.

Working with Don of Amerioca now, so I'll try to keep my eyes on terma price levels and hours of operation as I enter them. Feel free to send me a PM if you need anything specific.

Are you thinking of the place at the corner of Siqueira Campos and Barata Ribeiro? There's a second-tier termas in the shopping center, on the 2nd floor. It was originally called Termas Pedagio but now goes by Termas Beach Girls. The facilities suck but you sometimes find a real winner there.

Gibletpie, the prices seemed to have skyrocketed within the past 4 months at 65!! They are almost as bad as Centaraus, only difference is you dont have to pay upfront. Never really cared for 65 too much, the girls just sit on their ass all day. Guess I will have to stick to 4X4. Thanks for the update on the prices.

B Dik: on the subject of 65, this may sound like a minor point, but you might mention that 65's "uniform" includes all garotas in thigh-high panty hose. The rates that Giblitpie posted for 65 include the entry fee. Ala carte, it's R$55 entrance, R$70 for the room and R$110 for the garota. I believe that when you do a dupla, they charge you 70+110 for the second garota, so an expensive place for a dupla.

On 65 I have the breakdown for the 40 minute session. Any idea on what it is for the two 60-minute options? Sweet, this is your home-away-from-home. Do you know?

Okay, as of yesterday, here's the price breakdown for Solarium.

Entry: R$60
40 min: R$250
60 min: R$340

Of that, the girl gets R$130 for 40 minutes, and R$200 for 60 minutes, which must be paid in cash. Everything else is payable by credit card. And the selection of girls at Solarium has been rockin' lately.

They wiped the price board at 4x4 on Friday and there've been a lot of improvements to the main boite lately (Second bar near the stage, glass shower near the center of the room, etc.) so an increase may be coming. Hopefully not too much, because 4x4, in my mind, has always had the most girls and the best rooms for the most reasonable prices (R$220 for the Super Suite with a giant bed and jacuzzi is hard to beat).

Should be able to post prices next week.

Having been to Solarium maybe three weeks ago, either they raised the prices in the interim or these prices don't look right. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the prices precisely, but remember them as being significantly lower. Anyone else been there lately?

Was at Solarium during Labor Day and had two 40 minute sessions plus entrance and plus a few drinks...Tab came out R$460....

Gibletpie...Would like to clarify whether the prices you have listed for the sessions inclusive of the entrance fee.

If it's R$60 entrance plus $$250 for 40 minutes, then that's about the same price to get into Centaurus.

Yeah, sorry, the prices quoted do include the R$60 entrance fee. But the prices were raised yesterday, and this reflects the new pricing. 190 and 280 minus the fee.

Wow, price sin the termas are going up and up. Looks like I will be forced to go and get phone numbers, instead of sessioning. I would rather pay 250R for a couple of unrushed hours in my apartment, than 45 minutes in a suite.

so that means if I was at solarium 18 months ago and got 3.3 reais to the dollar and paid 220, it works out to roughly 67 dollars, today at 2.50 and the real at rougly 2.25 it works out to roughly 111 dollars, or a 65% price increase i know 3.30 was a high but these price increases and currency fluctuations are really starting to hurt.

That's a very sharp price increase. Four weeks ago at Solarium entry, a 40 minute run and a couple of drinks ran R$235.

That's messed up they raised the the price $R10 across the board (entry, cabine, girl). I guess they figure that prices increases will not turn away customers. Definately will make me use the cell phone more often when I return the week after next.

I always do 40 minute cabines at Solarium, and the prices listed here sound right for what I paid in July. I had no idea the 60 minute suite was so much higher!

So, what about Monte Carlo? My sense was the two places (MC and S) set their prices identically because of the shared ownership. Is this the case?

No, L is not the cheapest. Jakalope's numbers are wrong (a typo, I think). I believe the 40 minute cabine at L is $220 (not $120). Of the majors, 4X4 is the cheapest, especially when you consider that if you session before 5 your entire entry fee ($30) is waived.

I can't answer your question on double room charges for duplas. I learned the hard way long ago that termas are not the best place for duplas. It's cheaper by far to get two escort service garotas, rent a love motel room, and spend two (rather than 1) hours with them. I know that Solarium, Monte Carlo, Centaurus and L'uomo all double charge for the room. I don't remember for 65 or 4X4. Anyone else know?

Wow, I somehow assumed that when a terma like Solarium breaks down the costs into two separate components (room/girl), that they wouldn't be charging twice for a one-time use of the room. That's very misleading, and a disincentive to customers to spend more money on duplas and triplas. Unless I'm missing something, it seems as though a bad business practice like that would not be in their financial self-interest. I would hope that anyone who's on a friendly basis with the management at these places might consider expressing this to them (if they agree with me). Without the extra charge, more people would have duplas and triplas, some customers (like me) would spend a lot more money, the ladies would work more and be happier there, and management would make more money, a win/win/win situation. Plus, the first termas to repeal the double charge would be at a competitive advantage in relation to the others. What do you think?

These are the days of new math. In the past when a dupla ran 400 reals, nobody really cared because that was US $125 and change for two girls for an hour. Now, that's close to US$200.

Remember as well that with duplas, you have to go for the 60 minute option with the bigger room, so the price is higher on all fronts. 4x4 is the cheapest for duplas but still not that great. I think that if you are into duplas, you either pay the price or don't do duplas. I would be paranoid as hell with doing duplas with beach/club/Help garotas, so either use escorts or hit the dive termas for duplas.

I am totally burned out on Duplas and do not enjoy them anymore. I prefer the one on one but I know the newbies like them as I once did also. Another thing we need to remember is the biggest majority of customers in Termas are not Americans, French, Italians etc. but Brazil men. I think sometimes we tend to overlook and forget that. I agree that termas are not the place for duplas, however, you are incorrect about the double charge at all the termas. Monte Carlo does not charge double (at least they did not a few years back). They seem to charge for the room only, I have seen a foursome (2 and 2) go into the suite and the guys said they only paid one room charge

Ok, maybe things have changed, but I am actually prefer duplas and do many.

Of all the places to do them, in the past, MC and Solarium were much cheaper. Primarily because you paid the two girls fees and only one cabin fee.

an even better deal is if you and a couple of buddies take 3 girls to the suite. We did this and swapped girls several times. the cost for this little rendezvous was equivalent to one girl fee and the room fee for a suite (1 hour) for each of us. In other words, we each paid for a suite and one girl, but got to bang three girls.

Ahhhhh memories!

The entry special for 65 is every fourth entry is free. Also, remember that the cabines at 65 are pretty nice, and are tucked away down a long, dark, quiet hallway. Which means, if you and a buddy each take a girl up at the same time, and they get cabines next to each other, it's real easy to swap garotas after 20 minutes or a half hour.

According to 65's web site, for "previously registered clients" the third visit in any month is free (entrance, that is). I guess if you weren't previously registered, it would be on your 4th visit.

This raises another question. What if you are like Sweet and come 15-20X per month. Is every 3rd visit free, or just the third?

Also note that at 65 entrance is free on your birthday.

1. Their 40 minute rooms are plenty big for a dupla.

2. They only charge once for the room.

Current prices at Luomo as of yesterday:

Don tells me they drop the entry to R$40 if you session while you're there.

One other thing, and maybe someone can confirm this. If you get on Solariums or MC´s email list, they will periodically send you a free entrance good for either location...I think it is Thursdays and Sundays.

For Solarium the free intermission (with the required certificate you receive via email) is for Mondays. For MC it is Tuesdays. Register for the promotion on their web sites.
