Spent the weekend in La Ceiba and if I had to rate my satisfaction out of a scale of 1-10, it was a 6.

By no means was this a comprehensive, top-to-bottom, inside-out investigative visit, which is why I can't really give much information. I mostly stayed in the hotel because I was engrossed in this super book called The World is Flat. More information about La Ceiba will come in following reports, as I do more exploring.

However, my general impression of La Ceiba as a town is very favorable. It's a very vibrant town. When I was walking in 4 block radius around the hotel on my first day, I was pleasantly suprised to see a bustling downtown. Everybody looked well-fed, clothed and moved like they had somewhere to go. In fact, I did notice a propensity of some of the girls to be a little chubby - more like baby-fat rather than your typical American teenage female heifer.

The buildings & roads were in good repair and I didn't see any beggars/street children on the street at all. Safety wise, my radar didn't come on at all. Nobody gave me a second glance - of course I was careful - no gold watch, jewellery, camera, shorts or sandals. Viewed from the back, I blended in easily.

This was, of course, contrary to my expectations of Honduras being the poorest country in Central America. I had been to Mexico City in the 90s and the images of street children on roadsides, hustling for a living, sleeping on subway grates with barely nothing, have always lived in my mind as living examples of latin-american urban poverty.

But I hardly saw any of that in La Ceiba. Noticeably, it doesn't appear that it receives many tourists...although I think with more concentrated effort, it's eco-tourism appeal could grow significantly. It does have some natural scenery as the cloud-shrouded mountains are close by and that would definitely merit a visit in the future.

I booked into Hotel Grand Paris, which faces the city square, for US$34 a night. There is a 1000 Lempiras (18 to 1 exchange) deposit for the in-room safe. The facilities are simple & basic and it'd be roughly equivalent to a motel 8 on the edge of anytown, USA. The rooms were spotless and ruthlessly cleaned every day, plus there was no extra charge for girls too. Plus, it was really quiet too.

I decided to rely on the services of the local pimp (Shorty - 372-3251) that a lot of people use. The advantage of using him is that he can get the inside scoop on young local girls who never see many tourists. Of the 3 girls I met through him, I was the second appointment that these girls ever had. Which could be bogus...but it sure didn't feel like it. They weren't hardened street pros at all and in 1 case, was a bit unsure what to do.

Another benefit of using him is that the girls have a lower tendency to have diseases, which apparently are fairly common in Honduras. Also, there is no organized red-light district or strip of streetwalkers or casas de citas, so he was only my real avenue for getting girls. I did go visiting some of the clubs on the first night and confirmed that myself. The taxi driver wasn't any use either, but perhaps I wasn't using the right one. He did bring me by 2 bars but I was turned off by what was available - mostly fat, old & unattractive hookers.

The main reason why I used Shorty was that he supposedly had fairly good contacts with bisexual girls. I've had 3rd party reports of Shorty's customers going through 3 separate 3 somes over the course of 3 nights. In the conversation I had with one of the girls, she told me that quite a few of the younger crowd in La Ceiba are very adventurous sexually and tend to have multiple gfs/bfs.

My experiences with him, however, were sorely lacking. I'd only rate him as 5/10. The first night - Friday - the girl came late and was nothing like what I wanted. I gave her some money for cab fare and sent her back home. The next day, he brought by a girl who I didn't really care too much for, but still OK. Inexperienced though - I loved how sensitive she was. She said she lost count of her orgasms after the 7th one. I paid her 500 Lemps and sent her on her way.

Saturday night was going to be a big night - I told him specifically that I wanted to meet 2 girls who really dug each other badly. Total bust. Both of them didn't turn up at all and didn't even call. I called him, pissed, at 1.30 to complain but since she had turned her cell phone off, there was nothing he could do.

@ 4.30 he calls my room and tells me 2 black girls are available but I was still pissed at this point so I blew him off. A couple of hours later, my luck improves and he brings by this pretty blanca - typical latina with dark, long hair with a petite, nice figure. But, she wasn't the service oriented type and we didn't have much chemistry. However, she was tight and it was a pleasant way to spend 2 hours.

Later that night, I call the girl from the night before (half of the bisexual 3 some) and ask her in for a drink...average looking girl with big boobs. Slight tummy. Then we spend some time together. This girl rocked. I let her do her thing and she was amazingly sensual and slow - perhaps being a bisexual influenced her style. The sex was breathy, passionate and intense. She also spoke English fluently and the experience was slightly better because we could communicate effortlessly. She promised a wilder time with her girlfriend on my next trip. A great way to finish off!

Overall, though, I am willing to use Shorty again, just for the sake of giving him a second chance. He really didn't expect me on this trip, but next time I'll call him in advance to get all my appointments lined up. Plus, the lure of having multiple 3 somes in 1 weekend, with some lovely brown girls, is too great to resist.

As an aside about Shorty, I met a friend of mine at the airport who was leaving at the same time for another destination. "Hey if you're going La Ceiba, you gotta meet this guy called Shorty who can hook you up. You'll see him in the airport - he's a short, dark guy with a baseball cap. He's also got this big-ass machete by his side"

At this point, I was thinking - WTF??? Where the hell am I going??? Why the hell does he need a machete???
