The local currency is the sole. Currently at 3.3 to $1. You can exhange dollars on the street quite safely, guys wear vests with big $ signs on back near everywhere tourists go. Just be sure to ask what they are buying for, I have only been ripped off once, he paid 3.25, big deal, he got me for a few cents.
The street scene is vibrant and active, and with luck, they can be attactive. The infamous Pizza Alley at Parque Kennedy is full of working independant girls at night, especially Friday and Saturday.

Lima, if you stay in Miraflors and San Isidro, is safe and clean. The food is excellent, the prices are not extreme, not really cheap, but not over the top either. If you decide to come, look for a hotel in MiraFlores, near Parque Kennedy or Larcomar, and you will be within safe walking distance or cheap taxi ride of an endless supply of pussy.
