My trip started about two years ago when I joined this site. After reading trip reports and looking at photos I finially took the plunge and purchased my tickets. I convinced one of my best friends to take a walk on the p4p side in Rio. This is the tale of two thirty-something americanos living a dream in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

I made arrangements to rent an apartment from Kenn at kenn ez-rentals. Kenn provided excellent service thoughout the trip and I would recommend him to anyone making plans to visit Rio. The penthouse in Ipanema we rented was amazing.

We flew out of D. C. on a Thursday night and arrived on Friday midday. The flight was passed by reading Bwana Dik's guide and learning as much Portuguese as possible. The guide was incredibly helpful and a big thanks to him for making it. I couldn't speak portuguese before the flight and could falo um pouco after.

We settled in and took old man naps before heading out to get dinner and then go to Help. We ate at Girl from Ipanema. It was about 100 feet from our place and we were starving. The restuerant itself was nice and the food was great. You could tell it was a tourist spot though. Fast forward to Help........ We got out of the cab and you could feel the energy. It was about 11 o'clock at night. A lot of people were hanging outside of the club. We paid 30 reals to go inside. Went up the stairs and walked into a huge dance club with many attractive ladies.

After reading reports on this site I did not know what to expect. I can see how a lot of guys would not like this scene but Im definitely not one of them. It reminded me of a couple of clubs in Baltimore I frequent but I knew 100 percent I was getting laid tonight. I purchased tickets for drinks. Which I thought was weird but when in Rome... I'm a beer drinker so I drank Skol which I thought was going to be crap but was pleasently surprised. I also like Captain Morgan and sprite but no luck on that one. We cruised around the club a couple of times checking out the lovely ladies. The place was very crowded. The women ranged from 5s all the way up to a few 10s. The 10s were like women you have always wanted the balls to approach at the club but never pulled the trigger. As you can tell my game is low but I knew my no skill wasnt a factor. I picked out a short girl with a crazy ass, small boobs and a average face. Her name was Vanessa. Im an ass man all the way! Bunda grande. Also, the Super Suite for 60 minutes is a much better option at 4x4 than the King's Suite for 90 minutes. Unless you're packed full of Cialis and insatiable, 60 minutes is usually more than enough, and the Super Suites are of virtually the same quality as the King's Suite. It also keeps you from having to make awkward conversation for the last 30 minutes with a girl who speaks little or no english. You're paying about 90 reals extra for that conversation.

Also, what you wear under your robe is entirely up to you. I always go commando. Sometimes a girl likes to reach under your robe and molest you in the bar. I like to make things easier for them ;)

And if you're interested in seeing more of Rio than Help, knowing the ins-and-outs of the better termas BEFORE booking a session, and having someone help translate with the girls in the bar, consider the infamous Don of Amerioca Tours. Yes, I am working with him now, but he really made my first trip to Rio the experience of a lifetime and I'd make that same recommendation regardless. Check his credentials on the site. For terma situations, Don can be indispensible, and I can't think of anyone else who offers that level of service.

I like Rio around Thanksgiving - it's warm and the days are longer in late spring, but it isn't broiling hot like in January/February and while there are certainly more people there than in July, it's not that crowded.

I think that Thanksgiving is a horrible weekend to choose. There will be more pervs in town from the US on that weekend.

Ironeagle, I just turned 57 so I guess I am one of those geriatrics you see during your travels. Sorry to ruin the view for you. Hey, most of us old folks never knew about paying for it when we were in our 30s. I have no idea if Rio termas even existed back in those prehistoric ages. There was certainly no Internet yet invented by Al Gore for us to learn about any of the places that did exist. And, like today, none of the travel books had sections on where to get laid. Consider yourself fortunate to be able to enjoy so many different foreign spots at a young age and let us faded generals hobble our crippled ways.
