My second day started slow. I had hoped to get an early start, but about of week of burning the midnight oil so I could make the trip left me exhausted. I woke up at bout 11 am. After some coffee, I headed out to exchange some more money.

To my surprise, the cambio that had given me 2.98 R/ $1 yesterday now said the dollar had dropped and it would be 2.90 R/$1 today, or 2.92 R since I was such a good customer. Ouch. I smelled a rat, so I hit about 5 cambios nearby. It must have been true because all quoted between 2.88 R to $2.92. I decided not to change money and see if an ATM rate was better. I talked with the nice receptionista at the Debret about it, and I was told to try Citibank, about 8 blocks away. I went and withdrew 1000R. On my receipt it said 3.12 R/$1. I checked Bloomberg online and it was about 3.02 R/$1. I can only guess that the rate is updated in the afternoon. So I was happy and went back to the hotel to relax a bit. I ran some errands, checked some emails and before I knew it, it was 2pm. Time to hit a Terma, and I was itching to try 4x4.

Traffic was bad into downtown and I didn’t arrive until about 3 pm. This place is a lot bigger than it looks-the hallways remind me of catacombs. I’ll say this, I hope they never have a fire there or a lot of people will die. About 25-30 garotas in the boite and selection was ok, but I was not overly impressed. I talked with a gordita for awhile, then cut her loose and mingled a bit. I picked out a garota with a cute face and we hit it off real well. Her name was Karina, a loira.

Rio is a truly beautiful city and you should at least visit Sugar Loaf (10 min cab ride) and perhaps Christo. The views are spectacular, and it helps to have a nice chica on your arm.

I visited Sugarloaf yesterday and I hoped to do Corcovado today, but its cloudy and I´m heading downtown for my afternoon terma run. I got about 50 photos of Sugarloaf, but I figured I would only post garotas. I hear Corcovado is even better and I´m going to try to get there early tomorrow.

When I read your assessment regard Help, I thought I was reading my own post which I had on a week ago. I can't wait to read your thoughts regard Barbarela garotas. I personally enjoyed La Cicci as it provided a place to kick back and relax with a compassionate garota rather than being in the husstling atmostphere with money hungered or skanky-loooking garotas at Help and Barba. There wasn't any pressure to bust a nut at night in Rio since we all have busted most of our nuts at the terma(s) in the daytime.

Re the 160 R for 4x4 I really don´t remember. That´s why I´ve been doing daily reports because there are so many termas, garotas, etc.. I was at 4x4 again yesterday, but I still don´t remember. I´ll be there tomorrow or Friday and be sure to check on the price. I´m pretty sure I was charged what was on the sheet. My first day I got a suite and a cabine and that was what I was charged or what I remember was charged.

True about Karina. I made a rookie mistake of not having her stand up and checking front and back. One downside to 4x4 is the lighting is dim in the boite and I said ok before I'd checked out the goods. Great session, but I'd pick a hardbody over her next time.

Once you've hit a good terma, I think your scale already may get thrown off, so it may be harder to assess Help. Based on all I've read on Help and my own experience, I would say that selection at Help is much less consistent in quality than termas and such. When I was at there I had little difficulty finding some nice girls. Eli and Indian from my Brazil report seemed to be popular, they were both Help girls.

Mayara....WOW. She ranks in the top 5 best looking girls ever posted on this site. I see a lot of Brazilian chica photos but this is the first one that really caught my attention. Totally perfect.

I agree the photos of her ass are great, but you'd be surprised how small she is in person. The shots make her look bigger than she actually is. I've got a photo of her on my lap and I look like a beached whale.

After Mayara I began to realize how being 5-10 lbs overweight or even having wide hips ruins a photo. I started to choose thin garotas who I knew would photograph well which was good and bad I suppose. I ended up turning down a ton of hot garotas with great attidudes because they were slightly overweight.

HC1: I'm re-reading your reports and I noticed you mentioned talking to the garotas in Portuguese. What key phrases did you use to flatter and compliment them? It might come in handy for me.

You have to not only know what to tell a garota, but how to pronounce it correctly. You can't also just say "You are beautiful" (Voce e hermosa) over and over, you have to work it into a converstation as you would with any woman. There isn't one or a few "key phrases", but the word for beautiful, (hermosa, linda, divinha) is pretty much the same as Spanish or is understood well by the garotas.

My usual questions with garotas went like this. Age? If over 22, then say they looked younger. (Cuantos anos voce ten? 28 anhos-Nao Posible!)Kids? if they had kids say it didn't show. (Voce ten Filhos? Dois filhos-Nao Posible) Boyfriend? Most would deny a boyfriend, but actually have one. When they say they don't, say that it isn't possible for a woman so beautiful to not have a man waiting and you don't believe it. (Una muljer como voce no ten namorado. Nao lo creo) Always be romantic and playful and the garotas love it. If the garotas didn't warm up to me, then I would usually drop them.

It's kind of hard for me to translate that whole thing. If you have a specific word or phrase, why don't you Hombremail me and I'll try to answer it or find out if I don't know. Remember if you don't pronounce Portuguese correctly they will not understand you even if you have every word right. I didn't come close to speaking fluent Portugeuse, but I learned how to say a few things with proper pronunciation and a minimal accent and I was understood easily. (Good example-The word for twenty in Portuguese for 20 is "vinte" similar to "veinte" in Spanish. When I said "veinte" (pronounced BAIN tay) to the garotas, I was not understood because in Portuguese, "vinte" is pronounced (VEEN Chee). And this comes up a lot because most the garotas are 20ish.)

Then again, if you want to have normal conversations (and romantic ones as well!) look for a copy of Rick Steve's Latin American Spanish and Portuguese. Pocket sized, covers both languages well for use in and outside the bedroom. It includes phonetic pronunciation too.

Regarding Portuguese accent, they speak Brazilian Potuguese in Rio as Portuguese spoken in Portugal is closer to Spanish. Tch and Dje sounds are typical Brazileiro.

Sorry to drift into a language topic,but in brazilian portuguese did you find that they pronounced "o" at the end of a word like oh. Most of the language books pronounce it like oo as in boot. Even though when I went to Rio I did not know anything about portuguese, but I dont recall hearing anyone using the "oo" sound ending.

I don't know what books you mean. It can depend on the letters before the final "o" maybe. I know "Eu Falo" or "Eu Tenho" uses the "oh" pronuciation you described. Come to think of it Rio, Belo, and a ton of other words do too. I can't think of any with the "oo" pronuciation, but there could be some. Any specific words you know of that had the "oo" pronuciation for "o" at the end of a word?

Most of the words I heard in Rio had the "oo" pronunciation including falo and tenho. Sometimes the cariocas speak quickly and we have the tendency to want to hear the "oh" sound because it's more logical to our ears when actually the cariocas are saying the "oo" sound at the end of the words.

Go to Barnes And Noble or other site and look for mini book on Portuguese. Under $10 and more than enough Portuguese to get by.
For short sentences, you can also use the translation site. If you still need help for a few sentences, why don't you post them under Portuguese thread and some hombres will be happy to provide translation.

Disagree on telling women they are beautiful. I always tell them this. It can't hurt to say they're smart too.

The reason why is many beautiful women are often insecure about their looks and don't really believe they are hot. This is especially true in Rio where all the women are hot and there's a lot of competition. I was talking to a doorman at 4x4 and he told me something interesting about this. He said Americans don't know how to treat beautiful women-that we fall all over them and shower them with praise and gifts. Before long the hot women here are stuck up bitches. This guy told me they don't do this in Rio. He said the guys in Rio go out of their way NOT to compliment or gawk over hot garotas. In fact, he said if there's a hot garoata with a so-so garota, the Brazilian man will purposefully go up and talk to the ugly one. This is ingenious and confuses the hot garota-she thinks she looks good, but men don't respond. Have any other guys noticed how Brazilian guys at Termas tend to be with a middle to lower tier garotas? Maybe this is why. I think this may be why so many hot Terma garotas are geininely nice and not bitches.

Back to telling the women they're beautiful, I think most of the garotas I was with appreciated because they don't hear it as much as you think.

Well it seems simple but not so fast.
Eu falo - present tense o is fairly short, not long
but
voce falo - past tense o is long to differentiate between present and past.

Now, watch out for vowels combo:
ao this is nasal as in nao, sao, Sao Paulo
oi is promounced like in English boy
ou is pronounced like o
and oe well good luck in pronouncing that nasal sound.

It's VERY hard to explain and give examples of pronunciation in this format. My advice is to write down the main things you want to say and find a garota or two at Meia Pataca to practice with. Say everything to them and have them repeat it over and over and eventually you'll get it. Like the ao nasal sound in Athos's example-that's pretty rare in English, just have a garota say "nao" a few times and practice with her.
