MBK is an interesting place. I had not been inside before, and was quite impressed. It is 7 stories tall, takes up a full city block and has everything from restaurants to bowling to theatres in it. It also has several hundred shops and booths in it.
We found a little outfit for Wei’s daughter, and went up to the 4th floor to the electronics MECCA of the mall. There were dozens and dozens of booths here selling all manner of electronics. I even saw SIM cards for as little as 59 baht (about $1.20) and for as much as 99,000 baht (about $2,500.00). It seems the SIM chip is the same, but the number is what is valuable. The “luckier” the number is deemed, the more valuable it is. A significant cultural difference here. I would not pay $2500.00 more for a number just because some guru says it is luckier. I found this trend to be true of their architecture as well. After remarking that many of the new, state of the art office buildings were of very inefficient design (one of my professions), I was informed that these building often commanded the highest rates because they had been designed with “harmonious” lines that were more ”in balance”. I think I would go broke being a developer over here…
Anyway, I found a really nice cell phone, a Nokia like the one Bahtman carries. Camera, video, MP3 and because it was used, the memory chip in it even came loaded with Asian porn movies, which I noted inspired Bahtman to want to show me how the blue tooth feature worked J
Here is a picture of the inside of the mall. You are not allowed to use a camera inside, but what the hell. There is a level below me and one that is above the escalators from where I took this pic, to give you an idea how big this place is. The central core was quite small, with the overwhelming area being dedicated to shopping areas. What a great mall!
After the shopping, we all headed back and Bahtman and company went their own way. Wei and I had a drink, and then bolted back to the hotel for one last romp, which was oh so good, and then she was off to get ready for work.
I met Hunterman shortly afterwards for lunch and we had a great meal with excellent conversation. Hunterman is a great guy and I hope to get the chance to monger with him in the future. After we finished eating, I bolted over to Lólita's for my final nut in BKK. I did not have enough time left to go recruit a short time, so I just went to see Jum. I took her up to the 3rd floor for full service. This was the first time I had ever done FS with Jum, and I was eager to sample the delights that had until then been kept under wraps. I enjoyed myself thoroughly and nutted in spoons. What a great finish to a great trip!
I ran back to the hotel and showered, hastily packed and was checked out just as the “late check out” time a the hotel came. I relaxed in the lobby and then headed out for the airport. My flight (JAL) to Nagoya, departed on time at 11:55 PM. As soon as we were airborne, I drifted off to sleep for the 5 ½ hour hop.
