Woke up early about 9 am and I hoped to get in a walk along the beach. I opened my window and it was pouring down rain. What a bummer. It had rained on and off the day before, but it never was raining hard when I was out. So I decided to write up the previous day’s report and watch one of the 7 or 8 DVD’s I’d brought down on my laptop.

This would be a good place to say I’d recommend bringing a laptop if you have it. It makes writing reports easy-you can do them little by little without forgetting names and faces which will happen over time. I can also download photos to the laptop easily through USB and clear out the flash memory for a new garota. This is important because all the garotas who pose want to see their pictures and you don’t want them thumbing back and seeing other naked garotas. That’s one thing that has amazed me is that most of the garotas have really been into explicit photos and they want to see themselves. Overall even with the higher price, most sessions of an hour were about 6 Reais, or $2 which is reasonable. Bringing DVD’s is also convenient to pass the time in the mornings or maybe on a flight. There are a couple of Blockbuster’s in Copa, but I didn’t inquire about renting any DVD’s. I bet you could if you gave a deposit.

The weather broke towards noon and I got a long walk in along the beach and parts of Copa. I had hoped to do Pao de Azucar, but it was still cloudy and overcast and I’d have to wait for another day. Sundays are slow in Rio, so options were relatively limited. I could do an agency garota, but I’m afraid to choose someone I can’t see. There are a couple Termas open as well-Solarium and L’uomo.

My head was still spinning from yesterday’s encounter with Camilla and then Paola, but I decided to go back to Luomo because it’s one of the few termas open on Sunday’s in Rio.

As for the tingle, while KidCisco's comments should be taken seriously, they are a bit alarmist.

As like any travel, you're being exposed to new germs. Some people's immune systems will react differently -- some guys will get a touch of something, other's won't. It can depend as much on how you react to the travel fatigue as making out with some garota. Most of these girls practice excellent hygiene, especially the termas girls. It also helps to brush your teeth and shower after your sessions -- most termas have toothbrushes and toothpaste available. (Plus you get a great shave after a steam sauna.)

I did come down with a cold after about five days in Rio, but more than likely it came from the snotty kid and his irritating mother who hacked all over the back of my seat for the entire flight from Miami to Rio. A lot of expats I talked to said they also came down with something shortly after they first arrived -- and a British couple I went hiking with had basically the same thing I did, and I know they weren't swingers or mongering. So I don't think it's mongering specific, but you might want to take a break on the DATY for a bit.

Make sure you get enough rest, eat some good fruit and drink fruit juices. If it gets a little worse, go to a drogaria and explain to the pharmacist what your ailments are: congestion, cough, etc. -- it's easy to find this stuff in a dictionary if you don't have the words in your vocab yet. Brazilian cough medicine works wonders -- and probably wouldn't be available over the counter in the USA.

I agree with Duckman, I'm more worried about stale airplane air with sick passengers and regular immune system weakening from fatigue from going to hard than catching stuff from girls.

Start taking your vitamin C and other immune system boosters before your trip and don't try to come out of the gate sprinting by doing too much your first couple days. It may be difficult if it's your first time, especially after you see the talent.

That said, you should still always wear protection, but I personally don't worry too much about DFK, BBBJ or DATY.

This is my take on the monger cold.

I don't think it has anything to do with garota hygine. Every one I was with was clean as a whistle. I DATY'd every garota and all were very fresh. After the session, all but one were in a shower cleaning up. I only had 1 garota with a little bit of bad breath, but it wasn't really that bad and I gave her a mint.

I vomited and felt bad 1/2 day, but I'm almost positive it was something I ate the night before. I've been back 1 week, and I got a cold the day I got back, but it was very minor and I was over it in a few days. Before that I hadn't been sick in 3 years.

It will be interesting to see if I get sick on my return trip.

There is a vaccine that I have used for years which is a combined Diarrhoea/Cholera cure. The Diarrhoea part is called Ducoral and is said to protect against about 60-70% of the normal tourist diarrhoea cases. Never had any serious problems before I started taking it, but never had problems after taking it either, anything other than normal party stomach. Could be worth a look.
