Hi fellows!
Please excuse my bad english, I try my best. I`m a german guy, who travelled to Brasil for about 10 years, my next trip starting now.
Well - after testing out a lot of other countries&beauties I can only say: forget about them, Brasil is absolutely the best. Without any doubt. These girls are unbeatable. They give you the best sex worldwide, a lot of them look great and... and over all - most of them are really very charming and make you forget totally that you pay for them. So this is exactly your country and Rio is exactly your battle-field, if you don`t forget some rules:
A lot of them are so sweet&pretty&sensual they even make you forget you should never fall in love with a hooker and the big danger is, that you could easily find yourself in a relationship. If you don`t wake up in time coming back to your country you see yourself doing very stupid things like going in a travel-agency buying a ticket for her to come over.
Hey, folks, call me an idiot, but I did it. Even if it became very stressy (nearly always, when they finally feel shure), it was the hottest half year of my life. But could not do it any more... and you shouldnīt even try it out.
Just let them, where they are. One of the reason is, that they are the sweetest actresses of the world. May be they write romantic E-mails not only to you, but to 3, 4 other guys, who could finally really invite them.
If you don`t pay cash for her any more after 2-3 hot meetings in Rio it means, she somehow likes you, but it doesn`t mean you don`t pay any more. It just means, that now her mother is going to be sick, or her sister and they need help or whatever... I mean, they really need the cash and itīs more charming to do it this way - but never forget: You will pay. Especially, if she comes to your country. Than her whole family waits for money and you bet she will get it out of your hands - even if you swore not to do nothing for anybody except herself. In case you are so crazy to marry one of them, keep in mind, that they are wild animals in divorce-affairs (This I never did, thank you, lord).
Don`t forget, they are extremely jealous, if they think to be your girl-friend (could happen soon). You dare to have a look in the wrong direction, it could cost you the sleep of the whole next night. May be she even beats you, after insulting, crying and, and, and...
o.k. - so far the warning about falling in love.
Anyway - if you be smart, you will have the greatest time of your life in Brasil. The girls appreciate very much, if you are friendly, giving you a lot of friendship back (I forget now some black sheeps, keep your eyes always open).
If you spend your time with her, please consider always, that Rio is not really safe. I walked three monthes along Copacabana without any problem, even in the late night, when nobody was there. I was loughing about the warnings - until some favela-guys came along and after robbing my money, they loughed certainly louder. At least, I was lucky enough to hide the most of my money in my shoes.
Take always a cab in the night, donīt walk alone in dark streets and so on, you know the whole story. Normally nothing happens, but it could happen, thatīs enough. If you do that, you are more or less shure.
If you are in the cab with a new girl, you donīt know too long, check, that she has an ID, that she is at least 18, especially, that she has no drugs. Guys, this could bring you really in bad trouble.
Consider, that the police (especially the fucking military-police "PM") is often corrupt. If they check the cab (happens not often), it could be, that they "find" some drugs, which came from their own pockets. Only in case you once get controlled watch exactly, what the guy is doing, or give him descretely some 20, 30 Reals to fuck off.
In 10 years I was only checked once - but if you`re hanging around the hot spots, they know, you could be a victim. Even some girls work together with them. Never let any policemen entry your appartement, if he has not the right paper, to do this. He could try the same game.
Folks - this is only a warning to make you have a really safe trip - don`t think, Rio is too dangerous for you. It is not, if you keep cool.
Well: Now some tips and locations:
- Hotel: I recommend Sheraton in Leblon, Avenida Niemeyer (not the one in barra, too far out), cause they have a great pool-area and your room doesn`t go to the noisy street, but directly to the pool /ocean. You will lay down in the arms of a brown beauty and hear the sea... And the day over you can relax fantastic in a safe area, without any stress, cars and so on. The Hotels in Copacabana go all to the noisy Avenida Atlantica.
If you prefer an appartement (Sheraton does`n`t let you go up with more than 1 girl), you find offers in the internet. Another warning: if some guy on the beach offers you an appartement and you take it (can be attractive, check the actual prices before), don`t forget that the guy has an extra-key. May be he is honest, may be he is not. You may be safer with an agency, even, if it costs you more money.
Well, after seeing Corcovado (the Christ-Statue) and Pao Azucar (shugar-leaf), you shouldn`t miss to see the beautiful Zoo and the botanic garden. Especially beautiful is the tropic parc "Floresta da tijuca" near the corcovado with water-falls, wild nature, outstanding views. Visit both on one day. You will never forget.
On Sunday the Avenida Atlantica, the big street at the beach of Copacabana and Ipanema (there it has another name), is closed for cars. It`s a great walk among all the Rio people, very relaxing, you stop from time to time, having a fresh caipirinha or better caipi-wodka (caipirosca, better for your head).
Don`t miss to visit a samba-school, if you come in winter-time (our winter, theit summer). What a party!
If you are adventerous, go to have party without any tourists in Arcos da Lapa, a lot of bars there, strictly brasilian style. But always be cool there, look that your princess (no working-girls there normally, but interested in gringos) has not her lover around. But they will speek not much english there...
If you want to see a very beautiful beach, go all the way down to "Recreios", 1 hour from Copacabana, always following the beach, passing "Barra" and some other quarters. Itīs clean there. You could hire a cab, making a price for the whole day (50 bucks should do it, always bargain).
If you are in the mood to spend a whole week-end, you go to Buzios, 2,5 hours north, beautiful and safe tourist-town with a lot of night-life (but few working-girls). Take your sweety with you and rent a room for the week-end. Great beaches - if you want so see them all, you rent a buggy. That`s fun. You can go from Rio with a bus, your hotel-guy will explain you.
o.k., folks, thatīs it for today. I wish you a happy time... all the best...

Epikur, it's nice to hear the opinions of someone from a different country than where most of us are from. Your experiences sound pretty familiar so I guess we all get treated the same as long as we have money to spend.

Good advice for those looking to do a little site seeing...which is what I plan to do on my next trip.
And it must be nice to not need a visa every time you go!

Epikur,
Good insights on garotas. I kinda "fell in love" twice (damn, every time I went there, I fell in love.) But, somehow, thank god I was able to wake up to reality and don't do anything stupid.
Yeah, those garotas just seem so sweet.

Epikur,
Shit, you said more in two pages than I manage to convey in 74 pages. What a wonderful piece of work. You have definately proven that brievity works.
Thank you for putting together such an enlightening report.

Thank you for your nice letters, guys! I`m happy, if I could still add some informations... Tonyrio: If you want to go to Buzios, you could book your hotel from nearly every travel-agency in Rio. There you find too the different categories/prices. I personally liked "Pousada Byblos", but for this place, even if very near by the center you better have a car. There are so many hotels and "pousadas" you have all the choice from quite cheap until high luxury. Anyway you should always check, if the place is near the beach if you don`t want to rent a car/buggy (But it`s really fun to do it and explore the whole place). Beautiful beaches: "Geriba" (Big, wide, Surfer, young crowd, even a techno-beach-bar, good waves), "Ferradura"-Beach for those, who like it calmer - good swimming, "Praya Brava", wilder and more wind, but beautiful, "Azeda", small&pretty, a lot of people in a small size, but you have "water-taxis", which bring you back to the center.
For individualists: Rent a car, go out of Buzios direction "Cabo frio" (leaving the "entrance" of Buzios, something like a big gate with police-station) and check the next beaches at the left side of the street. In the week you find them nearly empty, some of them being really very beautiful and exotic. Especially I like "Jose Goncalves" (hope the name was right), the side-street, which goes to it leaves the "cabo frio"-road right after a big speed-control (the first after leaving Buzios in cabo frio-direction. You go over a curvy street (camel-trophy-style), go up and down through an adventurous wood and reach finally a very special place. Nature pure. A small dream-beach with a wooden bar, where you get your fresh coconut-juice. Rent a buggy, put a nice girl in it and here you go. It`s marvellous... To be shure you may be buy in Buzios a map with all the beaches around. So you avoid seeking.
Well, guys - in the moment I`m back in Rio spending my first night. Actually I didn`t sleep in the plane so I have activities only tomorrow. But then... yeah!
Wish you all the best...

Well, alot of the stuff written hold true to me as well. I love freakin' Brazil and the more shit that happens here to me, the more I love it.
Regarding having a girfriend in Brazil - Follow Ronald Reagan's advise!! Trust, but verify!!
Here is some advise for you guys that have a girlfriend in Rio, especially if the she lives in your apartment.
My girlfriend wanted a laptop, which at first thought was crazy to me!! But on second thought, it seemed the best way to keep tabs on her during my absences from Brazil. I bought a "cheap" new laptop for around $500 and loaded it with my favorite spy software. The software e-mailed screenshots and every website she ever accessed, including passwords.
Since she stayed at my apartment when I traveled and I pay for continous Internet service in my apartment, it all came relatively easy - the chatting, dating websites, e-mails, etc...
During one of my phone conversations with me, she asked me to e-mail her some photos of her. I just had to smile, because I knew what she was up to.
Well, it did not really shock me very much to be honest.... nor was I terrible mad! However, it does feel good to be in the know.
What felt even better was coming back to Brazil, fucking her one last time, giving her proof of everything, packing her shit and throwing her out. Yes, I kept the laptop!! The best $500 I ever spent! Now I will either sell it on e-bay or keep it for my next girlfriend :-)
Anyway, my adventures continue..... I love this freakin' country!
