Okay, Last night (on Monday…See report on Sunday!) when we went to The Irish Pub, Camilla somehow managed to leave her cell phone in the cab. Today (Tuesday was a holiday and all the stores were closed, so we could not go about getting a replacement. Camilla suddenly decided she needed to go home to her daughter (later I found out that she told a friend of Coffeemaker’s that her period had started). So off she went to see her daughter. I spent the day relaxing at the beach and hitting Luomo and Solarium ( yes I saw both Amanda and Daniella). I had arranged with Daniella to come stay with me Wednesday night, but today received a call from an old favorita of mine, Miriam. She worked at Solarium in February, Centaurus in August and on this trip is working 15 days on in SP and 5 days off back in Rio. She wanted to see me, and so I agreed to see her on Wednesday as it was the only day she was still in town. This meant of course that I had to reschedule Daniella to Friday, her other day off. So I went in to Luomo and explained with a sorrowful face that I had not been able to see some of my buddies that were in town only for a few days and I really wanted to hang out for a day, we needed to do Friday instead of Wednesday, yadda yadda yadda.
While out and around, I did experience a first. In a taxi, waiting for a stop light to change, this kid runs out into the street, right in front of the car and sets up this table. He climbs on it and starts to juggle balls furiously. He does this until the instant the light turns green, then jumps down and drags the table to the curb. He never even asked for money, so I have no idea how he makes a living at it, but the cab driver and I were laughing our asses off.
Also saw a couple of interesting things…
The Brazilian version of an Armored Car..
A shot of Sugar Loaf on the way to 4X4 with some buddies, and of course a shot of Corcovado, which I planned on see with Miriam the next day!
It was a pleasant and slow paced day, which allowed me to rest up and be ready for the following day with Miriam.
