Here it is. This should answer nearly all of your questions regarding a future mongering trip to Bangkok, Thailand. There will always be odd questions that I don't discuss but you can send questions to my inbox if something is not covered. I am not an expert but I have been to Bangkok 9 times in the past year and a half. I have a first-hand view of how Bangkok is right now. A few mongers have only been there a couple of times and there reports can give you valuable information but they have little to compare.
Any specific questions regarding certain venues can be researched by looking at the thread and comparing the differing opinions on that particular venue. One guy may love a particular go go bar and another hate it...same goes for massage parlors. Good luck.

Sir,

I would be forever in your debt. Great Job!

I am hoping to be able to use your fine advice this year or next at the latest.

Thanks,

Concarne

Funny, I was thinking about writing such a creature as well, but you beat me to the punch. Guess I'll just chime in here if I have anything to add.

She is still going to school and is off to the U.S. in a month. I hope everything goes well.

Blazers,

Just wanted to give you props for your Definitive Guide to Bangkok. I have been to Thailand 7 times and still learned a lot from this guide. I learned about Cabages and Condoms (excellent Thai food), Ahkbar's (excellent Indian food--try the Special Sampler Platter for 300Baht), learned about Lólita's (can't thank you enought for that one) and a few other tidbits.

Thank you. I owe you a beer.

Where is the best place to exchange currency near Soi 4? My bank here in the US is only offering 38:1 and the market would seem to be 41:1. They are also offering only 1.9:1 on Reals, so I will just exchange them in Rio, but do not know the best place to exchange in BKK.

Place in front of Nana Plaza seems to always be on par with the going exchange rate and they accept travelers checks at a better rate.

The best rate I found was at a Chinese jewelry store. On Sukhumvit, go towards and past Soi 2--past the toll road, I think it's the second left (by the King of Duty-Free building)--about halfway down the block on the left (sign in English indicates they change money). It's a 5-7 minute walk from Nana, but their rate was consistently at least a little better than those I found around Nana.

Never change dollars to a foreign currency in the US- you will get ripped off every time. The rate in Thailand right now is about 40.9 baht per dollar. I agree with Blazers. The small exchange just to the right hand side as you enter NEP (or across the street from Golden Bar Beer) has about the best rates around.

Hunterman-
I am not going to walk a half mile in the Thai heat to get an extra 5 or 10 satang per dollar, if you even get that much more. No way anyone can convince me that it's worth it.

As I recall, it was at least 20 satang one time, and no less than 10. Anyway, it was my first trip, and I was exploring when I found it. And there were some interesting food items sold along the way, that I didn't see elsewhere (a few I tried and liked, others I gave to the beggars on the way back).

But I'll try the one you recommend next trip, unless I feel like walking.

Feel like walking in thai heat? You've been hanging around porker too long ;)

I'll take the ATM right outside NANA everytime.
