Porto Alegre – A Great Side Trip

I was recently in Sao Paulo for almost 2 weeks and as much as I enjoy Sao Paulo, I decided to break up my stay with a side trip down to Porto Alegre. I bought a round trip ticket for my flight from Sao Paulo to Porto Alegre through Kayak.com about 10 days before leaving for Brazil. Varig offered the best fare at US$280. Varig was actually about $30 0r $40 less than GOL which in my limited experience is unusual. I’ve only bought tickets in the past between Rio and Sao Paulo. GOL was always the lowest cost when I traveled that route.

The flight down was on time and took approx. 1.5 hours. I took a cab from the Porto Alegre airport to the Parthenon Manhattan Hotel in the Moinhos De Vento section of Porto Alegre. The cab only cost R$15 (1R$=US$2.25 in Jan. 06). The Parthenon Manhattan is in a real nice section of the city with a fair amount of shops, banks / ATM’s, and restaurants in the area. A 3 story shopping mall was about 4 or 5 blocks away from the hotel and a Super Mercado was about a block away. Several parks were also nearby. I paid R$143 per night on the weekdays I was there and R$120 for a weekend night. The front desk people spoke good English and there was no problem with bringing a guest to the room at no addl. charge.

I visited each of the three best clubs and one sauna while in Porto Alegre. My first night, I went to the Gruta Azul (www.Grutaazul.net). This is the high end club in Porto Alegre and it did not disappoint. I think I paid R$70 entrance fee which goes against consumption. I am a very light drinker, so I never exceed the entrance fee. The exit fee to take a garota out of the club is R$100. The club also has rooms on site. I don’t know how much they cost. I always take a girl back to my hotel for a couple of hours.

This club was filled with hot garotas. There are 2 garotas that dance at a time on each of 2 stages. The problem here is that it is very easy to develop a case of analysis paralysis. Many of these girls are very hot.

There was a girl walking around with a blouse that on that said I Speak English across it. I tried to avoid her, but when she saw me, she came over and started to talk to me in English. I guess being 6’2”, I even stand out in southern Brazil. She was a little blond spinner and I really wasn’t interested in her. I had enough spinners in Thailand to last me a while.

After talking to her a while, I decided to test the waters and just see what kind of money these girls are looking for. I had an idea based upon my pre-trip research. I asked her how much she gets for a couple of hours in a hotel. She quoted me R$700. I laughed and told her, I never pay anywhere near that kind of money. She asked me how much I wanted to pay and I told her that I was totally turned off by her and wasn’t interested.

I started to talk to a friend of hers that I thought was very attractive and also had a friendly personality. I talked to her for a while and conducted a short interview which she passed. When I got around to discussing price with her, she quoted me R$300 for 2 hours in my hotel. Now we’re in the ballpark. I told her that I could pay her R$250, and she immediately agreed. It was starting to get a little late, (1:30 AM ) so this may have worked in my favor.

I paid my fees to exit the club and we went back to the hotel. We had an excellent session, that included lots of DFK and the use of my sex toys. The only downside was that the session included a CBJ. I brought some nice thin Crown condoms for this eventuality, so it wasn’t too bad.

The next afternoon, I went to the weekly Thursday festa at Sauna Karen D’ache (thanks Bwana for the tip on this place). I paid an R$70 entrance fee which included all the beer you can drink. I went to the locker room, changed into my robe, spent some time enjoying the facilities, took a shower, and entered the large party room. The room was packed and they had a live band playing.

There were many garotas in the crowd that were not doable. However, there were a handful that were hot and everyone was very friendly. I’m a light drinker and I gave a number of beers to different garotas. I guess even at the festa, the garotas have to pay for their drinks because they kept asking me to get one for them since I paid an flat admission price. One garota at the festa worked at Gruta Azul and recognized me from the night before at the club. She told me that she used to work at Bahamas in Sao Paulo. That gives an indication of the kind of quality that was mixed into the crowd. I partyed with the Brazilians, but ended up not doing a session. It was still a fun afternoon / early evening.

That night, I went to Carmen’s Club (www.Carmensclub.com.br) which is another high end club. I think I paid R$60 admission fee which is used against consumption. I arrived at the club a little before 11 PM and the place was packed. Like Gruta Azul, there were also many hot garotas here. The set-up is a little different here than Gruta Azul. There is a stage in the center of the club and every hour or so there is a show that lasts 10 – 15 minutes.

I was lucky and found a seat with the aid of a waiter. I looked around at all the people around me and sitting across from me at a table was a hot young garota. She was with a friend and they were talking to 2 guys. I thought this girl was very pretty, well dressed, and she appeared to be friendly by the way she was conversing with the other people at the table. I guess an hour or more went by and I watched a couple of shows. The garota I had my eye on was still talking to her friends. I decided to take a walk around. There were plenty of garotas in my doable range in the club.

I talked to several girls, but nothing got me terribly excited. Then I saw the garota I originally liked standing alone. I went over and started a conversation with her. After a while, we over to a free table near the back of the club. We had a drink, talked some more and I eventually offer her R$200 for a couple of hours in my hotel room. She agreed without hesitation. There is also a R$100 exit fee to take a garota out of the club like Gruta Azul. They also have rooms on site, but I don’t know the latest pricing.

I settled my bill and we headed back to the hotel. This girl works part time as a bank teller in a town 1.5 hours from Porto Alegre and drives down to work at Carmen’s for 3 nights a week. She shares an apartment with 3 other girls during her time in Porto Alegre. The other days, she lives with her family in her home town. We had a great session that included lots of DFK, the use of my sex toys, and a nice long BBBJ.

The next night, I went to a club by the name of Madrigal (www.madrigal.com.br). I think I paid an R$40 entrance fee which is used against consumption. This club also has a R$100 fee to take a girl from the club. They also have rooms on site.

The quality of the garotas at this club is well below that of Gruta Azul and Carmen’s. In contrast to the other clubs, there were only a few guys in this club. There were 3 out of 20 or so girls that were in my doable range. This club has a stage on which 3 girls dance and several small stages around the club on which a single girl dances. The garotas dance in 45 minute shifts.

I sat and watched a number of shifts. Finally a garota went on stage that had oil all over her body. She was a spinner which is not usually my favorite body type. I thought that she looked attractive, was a very sexy dancer, and for some reason the oil really turned me on. When she finished dancing, I started a conversation with her and we had a drink at my table. She had a very friendly, upbeat personality. After a while, I offered her R$150 for a couple of hours in my hotel and she readily agreed.

I paid my bill and we took a taxi to the hotel. It turns out that she was originally from Uruguay. She had married and then divorced a Brazilian guy. She danced at the club to support herself and her 2 kids. I had a lot of fun with her in bed. Our session included plenty of DFK, use of sex toys, and an excellent BBBJ.

In conclusion, I have to say that I am really glad that I made the trip down to Porto Alegre. I really enjoyed the sauna and the clubs. I thought both Gruta Azul and Carmen’s Club were top notch clubs. I have to say that each garota that I choose was a real sweetheart and I really enjoyed my time and sessions with them. I would highly recommend a few days in Porto Alegre if you are looking to add another location to a Rio or Sao Paulo trip that is off the beaten path.

Great update. After Bwana spent so much time in PA, it has made it's way onto my "must do before I die" list.

Looks like Karadanche is good the last thursday of the month accodring to Bwana Dik. They charge a lot at both carmen and gruta for rooms so I think you did very well to take the girl out. Didn't you have to buy a bottle of wine (R$100) at Gruta besides take out fee?
I think Gol has 1 direct flight from GIG to POA that is cheap online, rest of fares are expensive.

Actually, I was at Sauna Karen D’ache on a Thursday in the middle of the month and it was very good. It appears that these Thursday festas are are a regular occurance. I didn't pay for a bottle of wine when I exited Gruta Azul. My bill included the entrance fee, the 100R fee for the garota, and a pack of cigarettes for the garota. I nursed 2 beers during my time in the club that were covered by the entrance fee. The garota already had a drink when I started talking to her and she didn't want anymore. I was pleased that I got out of a top notch club without a real big tab.

this is very good news for gruta, they used to charge a bottle of wine on top of take out fee. Now I have a reason to come back, i have enjoyed Carmen and never regretted not trying gruta again.

Let me see if I am adding these numbers up correctly. R70 to get in, R100 to leave with the girl, and R200-250 for her. Right? That's getting close to $200 US for the whole package. Is PA that expensive?

Gruta Azul is the top club in POA and it is expensive, especially if you are a heavy drinker. Carmen's and Madrigal aren't low cost clubs either. The weak dollar has really made a difference in these clubs all over Brazil. There may be lower cost/lower quality clubs that I didn't try. These were the only ones that I could find info. on. I was only in POA for a few days and wanted to stick to the quality places

The Thursday festas at SK are a regular occurence, but the last Thur. of each month is a "special" festa, with more elaborate entertainment, some free food (usually appetizers of some sort) and many more women. The "last Thursday" festas are always on some theme or another. For example, the festa at the end of April is "Super Festa Country" and will have a country music/western theme. I'll be there with some of my favorite cowgirls ;-)

Did you have been in Blumenau, Santa Catarina, who has experience for the nightlife there??

I've been there, but didn't do anything other than drink the local beer. A friend from there says he goes elsewhere for action.

Just curious. Why'd you post this under a Porto Alegre trip report? Blumenau and Porto Alegre aren't even in the same state.
