There is one primary reason I go to Thailand a lot, but the country has much more to appreciate. I’m also fortunate to have a huge reserve of frequent flyer miles, so I decided to treat my family to a trip to LOS. I got business class seats for my Mom and Brother who live in Montreal, and coach seats for my Daughter and Brother who live here in Southern California. I carefully explained Pattaya to my Mom, and offered to stay in Jomtien, but she wanted to stay in Pattaya to my relief. I knew it would be hard for my Brothers and I to slip out at night if we had to Baht bus in from Jomtien.
We stayed at the Majestic Suites in Bangkok. I usually stay at the Majestic Grande, but to help my family save money, I decided to try the Suites, and I was pleasantly surprised. It’s less than half the cost of it’s sister hotel, and I found it perfectly acceptable. Much better than the Nana or Dynasty hotels which is what I expected.
We arrived late on a Tuesday, and the following day tried to visit the Royal Palace, but it closes at 3:30 and we were too late. We still managed to visit other temples in the area, and had dinner along the river. Arriving back at the hotel as evening was setting in, was quite an experience for my newcomer family members. It was fun pointing out the ladyboys to my Mom, and Daughter. They were appropriately blown away. After tucking my Daughter into bed with Mom as caretaker, I took the big boys to Nana. That was another great experience.
We were not able to use taxis because there were 5 of us and baggage. I called Paul the taxi guy who is highly recommended on another forum, and he gave me Lek’s number who has a really nice minibus. He became our primary driver for the rest of our trip. He was amazingly punctual and helpful. If anyone needs a minibus, let me know, and I’ll give you his number.
We checked into the new Whitehouse Condotel next to Dynasty and were in for another pleasant surprise. Much nicer than Dynasty, and Sandy Springs, and in room safes, and hi speed internet in the rooms for 100 Baht a day. Very nice furnishings, and luxurious beds. 1250 per night. I have a feeling those prices might go up after awhile.
It wasn’t long before I started getting exhausted from going out everynight, and doing the tourist thing during the day. We went to the Tiger Zoo, Elephant Village, Monkey show, Koh Larn, and spent a night on Koh Samet. We stayed on Tubtim beach on Koh Samet in these great bungalows on the beach for 900 Baht a night. Of course you can find bungalows cheaper, but these were much better than anything else we saw on the island. It was great watching my Daughter feed a baby Tiger cub, and feed the wild monkeys at Banse. She loves animals, and had the time of her life. My Mom was thrilled too. She's never been off the continent before so the whole trip was a great adventure.
We also spent a day at the beach city of Banse at Kaeow Sam Hua known for it's wild monkeys that love to get fed. We had much better time there than I expected, and I got some really great shots of the monkeys, and my family feeding them. We also spent a day at Ayuthaya which was fascinating, but since it was our last day everyone was getting pretty tired. We left without really seeing most of it.
I took my Brothers to my favorite Gogos on Walking street like Happy, and Supergirls, but they ended up liking Soi 7/8 better. That forced me to spend more time there, and I found some nice talent. I think you have to search harder, but the results are better when you find the right girl on Soi 7/8. Better attitudes, and cheaper as a rule.
The following are some of my “dates” during the stay. Bear in mind, I wasn’t really on a mongering tour this time, so my numbers are a little low. I’ll try to do better next time;) I’ve given up asking the girls to take their clothes off. Personally, I don’t care. I just like having photos of my little trophies.
I also have some great photos of Koh Samet, Koh Larn, and other highlights of Thailand, but wasn't sure they'd be enjoyed much here. If anyone would like to see them, let me know, and maybe I'll add them later.

Although I'm a pig tail over, me likes the first two.
That is quite impressive that you were able to combine a family vaca into a PT mongering trip!
How's the d200 treating ya?

Ahhh!! You've definitely got the camera dialed in this trip. First girl and first three shots are my favs. Agree with your soi 7/8 comment. Thanks for the soi 4 hotel info. Majestic looks like a great place to shoot.

Yes, the Nikon D200 is turning out to be a fine camera, but at 10 Megapixels it is also chewing up my storage space at a hi rate.
The first girl was my favorite also. A gem from Soi 7.

Hey! Very nice pics... I'm curious about the Whitehouse... is it really much nicer than Sandy Springs? Do they have a pool? Is it your favorite now?

I use two extra SD cards that I got (eCost) at a low price. If you buy extra crads make sure thaey are a name brand or you might find the save time too long.

Hey NY.. Yes Whitehouse is much nicer than Sandy Springs, but no pool. In room safe is more important to me. Also in room hi speed internet really helps me.
694.. You're right. I use a Sandisk 4GB card. It loads 5 frames per second at 10 Megapixel Raw. Each pic is 15 MB. I had to buy a new hard drive for my pc. lol

She was from Rainbow 4 in Nana. Pretty business like, and straight to the point. Not highly recommended, but OK.

I'm not familiar with Soi 7. Were the girls gathered on the streets or in bars? Thanks.

There are bars all up and down Soi 7&8. They will often come out of the bars to pull you in. Always fun for a stroll.
