“Good for Me, Good For You” – A special report/suggestion guide for short trips to Rio de Janeiro

The title of this report, “Good for Me, Good for You,” is not a suggestion that what is good for me is good for you as well. It is a quote from a garota, which I will explain later. As a preface or a background for this report, I am a West Coast based traveler and for reasons I don’t care to discuss, I can only visit Rio for a few days at a time. My guess is that there are others like me who, for similar reasons, could benefit from my experiences. Furthermore, if you are looking for the “Rio on a budget guide,” this is not the way to go. While I’m not in the business of overpaying garotas, I go big at restaurants and termas because I only have a few days, and I make the most of them. Aside from a few trips where I have been able to spend three and four weeks plus in Brazil, all of my trips have been three full day, two full night trips. So when I go, I must maximize my time, experience, and pleasure. My visits have been well thought out in advance and my plan has always been executed fairly well. I am a big believer that the YMMV or “Your Mileage May Vary” rule is in full force and effect in Rio de Janeiro. I am also a big believer that you are in full control of the YMMV rule and there are factors (I will call them “CB Factors”) that can affect/enhance your experience, memories, and pleasure factor.

Before you read on, allow me to add that as I sit in the new Terminal D American Airlines Admirals Club at MIA, I am exhausted as though I just played the game of my life. I have to say that I am satisfied that, as you may have heard many coaches and athletes say, “I left it all out there on the court (or field).” As a result, I had some of the most wonderful experiences I have ever had. I have thought this every time I reflect on my time in Rio, but this time is different.

Essential CB Factors:

With respect to format, I will give a detailed itinerary but I will begin by giving a few basic CB Factors that I feel have been essential to my success in Rio:

1. I can communicate, and I try to communicate in Portuguese with most every Brazilian I encounter. From an academic perspective, my Portuguese is terrible, and a few on this board have told me so (I have no written instruction), however, every Brazilian in Rio who I have spoken with for longer than 30 seconds has said that I speak well and asks where I have learned. Just so you know, I have acquired some rudimentary conversational skills from Pimsleur. It is written all over this board that, even though you are paying, your sexual experience with Brazilian women goes a lot further if you can talk to them.

2. I am obsessed with everything Brazilian, almost to a fault. My friends joke about it at home. I am truly interested in Brazilian life and pop culture – specifically Carioca nuances. I eat at Brazilian restaurants at home. I have many Brazilian friends who live in the U.S. who are a great source of information. I subscribe to Playboy Brasil, and I try my best to read the articles and I pay close attention to the marketing advertisements and the latest styles. I watch Globo TV and soccer. I have an iPod loaded with all types of Brazilian music (as stupid as it sounds, listening to the words and occasionally singing along helps your pronunciation). I read the local Brazilian community publications. I check out all of the Brazilian cultural events happening in my home town. Whenever possible, I rent Brazilian foreign films. I go to see Brazilian bands play live. The more you know about Brazil, the more you’ll be able to anticipate what your garota is thinking and the better your conversations will be (and the better your sex will be).

3. Ground zero for the 20 year old Carioca woman’s life is the beach. Everyday at the beach she looks at young Brazilian men that are tan, good looking, and have perfectly toned bodies. What is my point? The tanner you are and the better shape you are in, the less she’ll be fakin’ it and the more you’ll be enjoying it. So for you non-metrosexuals out there, get to the gym to “train for your trip” and right before you leave, get yourself a good mist tan that will last for a few days-if you are staying a week or two the mist tan will cover your white ass for a few days until you acquire the real thing. I typically get one on the way to the airport and shower once I get to Miami in the AA Admirals Club. You might also consider shelling out a $75 to have some gay hair-stylist cut your hair before you leave – the Carioca woman will notice.

4. I fly American Airlines because their Rio flights arrive in Rio at 10:30 AM and their return flight departs at around 11 PM which allows you a full day in town on arrival day and departure day. This allows you to maximize your time.

5. I don’t mess around with Help garotas (although I broke the rules and paid for it on this trip). If you are only there for a few days, you can’t afford for your evening garota experience to be poor. Therefore, I only make dates with Termas garotas or garotas recommended by other mongers. Brazil Specialist is a great source for recommendations.

6. There are two places I now stay – Arpoador Inn and Brazil Specialist’s place. I have stayed at many hotels and an apartment or two, but for numerous mongering reasons, these places are the best.

7. When in a Termas, take a real good look around…if you don’t see the one you like, well, it is just like Sierra Nevada or Colorado Rocky weather – if you don’t like the weather, wait 15 minutes-similar circumstances apply if you don’t see exactly what you want. This is especially true at Centaurus where there are lots of women and lots of hot women. Girls might be getting finished with their post session shower or just showing up for work…you never know. No reason to settle. One special note: You will notice that I tend to give very high rankings in my ranking system. I am extremely picky, but my preference might not be your preference. My point is, be picky and you will have high rankings, too.

8. A good rule for gringos to follow is only hail cabs that have their windows rolled up. Typically, this means that the driver has the AC on. If it is a really hot day, the AC might just start working by the time you get where you are going. Remember, most of these cars are “4-bangers” and the air conditioning system may not work real well or may be in questionable repair. Very essential advice if you don’t want to arrive dripping wet from your own sweat.

9. Cialis – did I mention that I am sponsored by Cialis for all of my trips to Brazil? Seriously, everyone has their own preference, but I find that taking Cialis allows me to have sex about 4 times a day and every time is every bit as pleasurable as the first of the day. Very essential in my opinion for a successful trip.

My basic itinerary for a day in Brazil goes like this:


10:11:30 AM walk through Ipanema and check out girls in retail stores and on the street.

11:30-1:00 PM Posto 9 at Praia de Ipanema

1:00 PM lunch

1:30-3:30 PM back to the beach at Posto 9

3:30 off to a Termas

4:00-9:00 multiple sessions at a Termas

10:00 PM dinner with a date (arranged from a previous termas visit or monger recommendation)

After that, cocktails, club, sex…

So down to the good stuff….

DAY 1

I arrived in Rio at about 10:30 AM cleared immigration and customs within 15 minutes. On the third floor of the airport, there is an HSBC ATM next to Banco do Brasil where I withdrew some $$$ for the day (No fees for HSBC Customers). Also, there is a lotterias kiosk near the ATM where you can buy a phone card if you have a Brazilian cell phone. I then walked downstairs to and outside of the departures area and got a cab that just dropped somebody off. I have been told to do this by other veteran mongers and it always works out. Cab fare to Brazil Specialists place was about R$38…not bad compared to R$55 for a radio taxi that you arrange upon leaving customs.

Arriving at BS’ apartment, I quickly unpack and take a shower outside under his wonderful outdoor shower. As usual, BS has a few garotas that I can choose from; however, I want to save my bullets for later. One of the nice things about Brazil Specialist’s apartment is that he always has garotas around and they are more than happy to help you…it could be sex or it could merely be putting sun screen on your back. Before I leave for the beach, BS makes arrangements for me to go out with this runway model he knows. As it turns out, she is 21 years old and she would have had an opportunity to make it big had she started out at 14 instead of 20. I told him to have her there at 10 PM. Off to the beach……

Allow me to plug my friend Emerson’s tent. It is located near Posto 9, in an area referred to as Cap Ferrat (see http://ipanema.com/pictours/ferrat.htm ). To get there you would walk past Posto 9 (towards Posto 10 & Leblon) and enter the beach at the sandwich kiosk structure. There you will find Emerson’s blue umbrella/tent. You will know you are in the right place because he has music right there on the beach. Besides being a truly honest guy with drinks and chairs, Emerson will serve you up views of the hottest thong clad non-pro women in Rio. For whatever reason, the largest population of college age girls flock here when there is good sun. This is not the same scene as hooker beach in Copacabana with all of its piranhas (my term for less than adequate looking gdp’s – typically found in and around Av Atlantica/Copacabana Beach) and the associated rip off artists looking for tourists. This place is pure bliss – bring your polarized sun-glasses 

After a while I decide that I’m hungry. A great place for a quick snack is Polis Sucos, two blocks from Praia de Ipanema at the corner of Avendia Visconde de Piraja and Rua Maria Quiteria. Typically there are at least three gatas there eating or having juice from the 7 to 10 range. By the way, this place is the best street corner for day time woman watching (non-pros). It is like one of those corners in Manhattan that you can just stand there and watch hottie after hottie walk by during lunch hour, only better because it is in Rio. Polis Sucos is an open air bar style place where you stand at the counter and eat. You can order sandwiches, sodas, fresh squeezed juices…it is great and cheap. Additionally, the place is mirror clad. All of the columns have mirrors and it makes it extra interesting for checking out the locals walking by or joining you for a bite. Many garotas from Emerson’s beach area stop in on the way to or from the beach.

After lunch, back to the beach where I enjoyed chatting with this 21 yo college girl from Porto Allegre in Rio for a few weeks visiting friends and family. At around 3:30, before I leave, Emerson invites me to party the following night on the beach. Sounds like a good opportunity to “Bring Your Own Garota,” which will end up being my only mistake of the night.

Off to Centaurus…I typically go straight from the beach to the termas. I typically take great advantage of the termas facility by showing up all sweaty and full of sand from the beach. The beautiful thing is that you can shower, shave and generally clean your self up to the point where you are in great sex shape. Just a quick word about this, the girls will be much more enthusiastic if you look good and smell good. The last thing a termas garota wants is to have a session with a smelly unshaven gringo. I think there is a predominant attitude among Americans that “if you are paying her, it should not matter how you look or what you smell like.” Remember, the more she enjoys your company, the more you will enjoy her company. As most of the veterans know, Centaurus assigns a garota to you when you walk in to help you undress and to “show you around.” This helps the garota get a session as she gets a chance to sell you her services. Lots of guys are not crazy about this (along with the pay first issue and the fact it is the most expensive termas), myself included, however, the talent level is simply unmatched and I only have 3 days. Back to business, the garota I drew to help me undress is just absolutely stunning, her name was Beatrice. I was a little bit leery of her because after I changed into my robe and went into the showers, she stood there by the door and waited while I cleaned up. BTW, Marcello is the guy who attends to the shower facility and he is very helpful and more than happy to get you whatever you need-like a tooth-brush, razor or shaving cream. Long story short, I walk upstairs with Beatrice and realize I drew the hottest garota currently on duty. And she was a performer to say the least (slightly safadinha for me, but one hell of a performer). She claimed to live in Leblon and enjoy volleyball on the beach. No kids, voluptuous type body, really nice fake rack (the only downside was she had horizontal scars on the underside of her breasts-I did not notice until we were relaxing post session). She was CIM which was outstanding. Here is a great piece of advice that is written all over this board – talk to these girls for at least 30 min before you go upstairs. It will make your session much better. Don’t forget to tell them how you are in town for two months for business, they will do their best to give you the type of service that will make you want to stop by every night for the next two months.

Once we got in the cab, Ani attacked me. We went back to BS’ apartment and did our best to wake the neighbors. Afterwards, when we were all sweaty, we went outside and took a middle of the night shower under BS’ outdoor shower. Did I tell you how cool that shower was?

On the way back to BS’ apartment, we stopped at his favorite place, Kice Sucos on Av Atlantica. We had a couple of juices then walked back to his place. I went upstairs and grabbed the 4 C’s – camera, cash, condoms, and credit card and I was ready to hit the beach then go straight to Solarium.

I went to my spot on the beach and hung out with Emerson and all his buddies. I certainly enjoyed the scenery as discussed in Day 1. I made plans to head back that night for the party on the beach.

So I decided that I would go to Solarium today. I rolled over there early as it opens at 3:30 or so. I wanted to see how the place progressed as the night went on. I walked into the place and took my usual shower and shave before going upstairs. I am happy to report that Solarium now has longer robes (a little longer that is). When I hit the boite, I immediately noticed this beauty, Milay (said mee-lye). I would go on to spend a lot of time with Milay as I found her personality amazing in addition to her looks. It really goes to show you that if you luck out and pick a girl with a good personality in these places, it can go along way for you. It worked out well when I asked Milay if she had any friends and she recommended Estella, 22 yo. Estella had a great personality and was one of those girls that grows on you the more you look at her. Once we got in the suite, I would find out she had some really nice firm breasts. There really is nothing like to girls giving you BBBJ at the same time. I popped twice during the hour in the suite. I decided that instead of utilizing Brazil Specialists’ recommendations, I would role the dice and walk over to Terraco Atlantico and see if I could not find a date for the party. Whoops…enter Marianna, or let me call her Princessa Marianna de Manaus. Marianna was a 19 yo old little spinner, darker skin tone and nice hair, typical of people from Manaus. This girl was from a family of 15 kids. I sat down with her at a table and we ordered drinks. I was looking around at all of the rest of the “Piranhas” thinking to myself it was time to get out of there. Princessa Marianna de Manaus got her nickname because of her mannerisms. She worked full time in Centro at a shop selling women’s shoes. She just acted like a Princess, kind of odd since she was from a family of 15 kids. I had joked with her that her parents missed the birth control class. We left TA and went to my new favorite restaurant Zaza Bistro Tropical. We had to wait about 45 minutes to get a table upstairs. It was really cool because in the upstairs dining area you take your shoes off and sit on the floor. We ordered a few things to share during the course of dinner and I though it was funny as Princessa wanted me to serve her once the shared items were on the table. I kept thinking this is a little bit odd for a girl from a family of 17. The restaurant was amazing check out http://www.zazabistro.com.br/ for more info. After dinner we walked over to the party. Princessa would not take off her shoes and walk barefoot in the sand…in fact, she wanted to sit on my flip-flops on the steps (she was wearing jeans) to take her shoes off and then she wanted to wear my shoes on the beach (mind you, this girl is 5 feet tall and I wear size 15 shoes) quite a sight to see. Anyhow, the party was amazing, great music and it was fun just experiencing a party on the beach. After a while we decide to leave and this is where the trouble begins. Princessa decides to tell me as we get in the cab that she has a little problem in as far as she is on the rag. I say, no problem, you can give me a BBBJ. She reluctantly says OK which should have prompted me to drop her of back at the Piranha Tank (TA/Help). So we get back to BS’ apartment and she wants to watch TV. Just a note – this is exactly why it is a crap shoot at Help/TA. When you are in a termas, you get the benefit of the garota having to answer to management. I’m partially to blame as I should have interviewed her better. She was just so cute, I could not help myself. This really could have worked out badly for me had she decided to call the Policia and tell them we agreed upon R$250 and I only paid her R$50.

When I came back that night after returning to the party a second time I could not sleep so I packed my gear.

Day 3

That morning I slept in late. When I awoke, I went outside and took a shower under the outdoor shower. It was Saturday and the Rolling Stones were going to play at Copacabana Beach that night. I was getting nervous about timing my trip to the airport right given the fact that there could be horrific traffic due to the concert which would be one of the largest the world had ever seen. I was hungry so I went to kilograma with one of the girls that hangs out at Brazil Specialist’s apartment. Kilograma is just a block away. It was crazy how many people were on the street. I went into Pao de Acucar (a grocery store) and it was amazing how many people were in there buying beer and snacks for the concert. Unfortunately I decided to forego the beach that day and head to Solarium early to make sure that I missed the traffic. After kilograma I sessioned with one of the girls at Brazil Specialist’s place but she is not a garota de programa so I won’t give the details about her or the session.

My preference would have been to go back to Centaurus that day but they don’t open until 4 PM and I was worried about getting out of Zona Sul with the concert looming. I figured Jardim Botanico would be less problematic getting to the airport. My flight was at 11PM so I figured I had better leave by 8 PM to make sure that I made my flight. So off to Solarium…I was hoping that Milay and Estella would be working but when I arrived there Estella was not. There was only about 10 girls working that day and my guess is that the others all went to the concert. Just a note on the talent at Solarium, outside of Milay and a few others working there, the talent has gone down-hill. Vanessa, a veteran of the place, has let age catch up to her. There were a lot of garotas in the place that you could just pinch a little bit extra on… So I wanted to go out with a bang and yesterday I had such a good time that I wanted to repeat the super suite dupla experience before I left for the airport. Great report, and I really like the "Good for you, good for me" slogan.

I think that the general inter action with a girl, the smiling, bantering, laughing, joking etc .. is often more important than the sex.

Some Portuguese certainly helps, and I can vouch for that doing all 3 Pimsleur courses really does enable one to carry a decent conversation with the garotas, it worked with me.

Then there is Milay....I had the fortune of running into her in January, when young Doug and I visited a very quiet Solarium one day. She is a riot! I haven't laughed so much in a long time.
