Jakarta is a relatively “exotic” destination, even for those who have extensive experience in other SEA destinations. When there are police crackdowns, I think it creates greater uncertainty than crackdowns in more familiar destination. As some readers already know, there have been some rather serious crackdowns the past couple of months in some of Jakarta’s dens of sin. The good news is that raids are subsiding. So, even though my rather regular reports on Jakarta mongering are probably turning stale to the Hombre readers, I decided some may appreciate a current report on some of the standard hotspots.

Over my six night stay the scene in north Jakarta (Kota) was wide open, in fact things are so good right now I couldn’t even hit all the core hotspots in this rather lengthy visit. It looks like things have been settled with the powers that be, and the result is that prices have gone up about 10-20K Rupiah. Wouldn’t you like to be the guy who received two dollars every time some Joe blasted a load up some Kota puki? However, some good news to this getting back to business as usual is a new influx of great talent from the Kampungs. Although a couple places are lagging in the restocking and there has been some change in MO is others, I would say the stage is set for a fantastic summer mongering season in Jakarta.

My recent trip reports have been organized by systematically giving my impressions on each the various venues I frequented. However, for this trip report I am going to revert back to chronological organization. Sorry you will have to read everything to get all the updates.

MX, nothing emanating from your keyboard or JKT can ever get stale my friend. Keep them coming. I deeply appreciate the regular updates as it helps plan my itinerary as well as marvel at how lucky you are to be there so often.
