Well, over the last couple of years I have spent quite a bit of time in Brazil, but only in Rio. In the process I have certainly gained a thorough knowledge of Rio, but also a serious live-in girlfriend. The latter seriously hinders my ability to monger as a I please in Rio.

So, I decided to make a little side trip - 2 weeks to be specific - to Sao Paulo to enjoy a little freedom.

For a hotel, I picked the Comfort Hotel Downtown, on Rua Araujo, 141, in Centro. This hotel is literally one block away from Love Story and walking distance to some of the other major clubs. The rate I received is R$99, but interestingly enough I was only able to get this rate by booking using a Brazilian IP address. When I tried to book this hotel from the US, the rate came back as $90 USD, but there were some other discounted rates on the Internet in the $60 USD range. The hotel is clean and the room comfortable, with A/C, a work area, and free high speed Internet access.

One night after bringing a "guest" home from Love Story, i was charged nothing and the front-desk clerk did not even ask for her ID. Another night, however, another clerk asked for ID and charged me R$50. It might be wiser to book a double occupancy rate when you stay at this hotel to avoid any confusion.

My first night I headed to Kilt and Love Story. Kilt was packed and the quality of girls there pretty good. However, the freakin drinks are expensive - if I recall correctly, R$20 - R$25 for a beer, and up to R$40 for girl drinks. The girls are very agressive and almost immediately started approaching and talking. Since i did not want to get stuck with a large drink bill, I pretty much just limited my eye contact and talked as little as possible. I finally picked a beautiful Morena, however, after buying a her drink and starting my interview process I discovered she only would allow CBJ's, plus did not like to kiss - Big disconnect in expectations.

The second place I went to was Love Story. Things start very late here... around 2:00am - and the place gets packed!!! It is basically a mini-help, but there are many, many guys... the music is very loud techno. Many lookers, but the girls seemed to have more of an attitude and were more picky at chosing guys they wanted to leave with (versus the ease at 'Help' in Rio). At least those were my observations. I talked to a little Japanese-Brazilian, who blew me off, as well as two other guys. Later i talked to another morena and danced a little with her. After about 10 minutes she told me that she was 'a programa', I guess a hint to me that she did not want me to waste her time. I answered "I know", but subsequently did not get the vibes I needed to leave with her. She turned away when I tried to kiss her. I usually try to kiss to determine how good and cool the girl will be in sack.... usually a very good test.

After leaving her, I passed a third girl. Beautiful, with very, very long hair almost down to her knees (I love long hair). She also had a piercing below her lips and I joked with her that she must have put it there so that guys could not kiss her. She answered right away stating that she does not kiss..... BYE!

Finally I passed a little cutie walking by me.... we smiled, talked, kissed, and agreed on R$200 for the entire night. It was a good session with BBBJ.

The next day I visited Millenium (R. Cel. Diogo, 1.199, Aclimaco, SP - 11-6166-2700, www.cafemillenium.com.br). It was a Saturday night and the selection of girls was so so. However, talk about beautiful facilities - WOW. Nothing, and I mean nothing, compares to the facilities here versus anything that can be found in Rio. Talk about agressive girls - man, like flies that just will not go away. After a ton of no's, no thank you, etc... finally decided on an incredibly hot girl. She told me that she had only been there for 2 weeks and would be going home in one more week. I tried my kiss test, which she failed - reluctant and minimal kissing, but she was so damn hot I just could not resist. Well, my kiss test told the story about the subsequent session - which was less then inspired, a CBJ. The session was R$200 (she asked for R$250), plus room which I think was about R$70. From a facilities perspective, however, great place to hang out, listen to music, etc..... just make sure to interview the girls to make sure that you get what you are looking for. I forgot to ask about the BBBJ....I got blinded by her beauty!

Also visited 'My Love', across from 'Kilt' on Rua nestor Pestana, 267. I did like one girl, who was quite wasted - she sat with me and I limited her to one drink which cost R$40. We went to the onsite cabines for R$100 for her. Sorry, but do not remember the price of the cabine. The session was good with a BBBJ.

I also visited a bunch of the cheap strip clubs along Rua Augusta, Consolaco. This street is located one street over from where 'My Love' and 'Kilt' are located. Tons of clubs... most definitely lower end models.... but a few diamonds in the rough if you are willing to explore. I had an awesome session with an Oriental & Black Brazilian mix. Very beautiful, petite, sweet, great attitude.... for R$50 (she asked for R$80) and R$22 for the room.

The strip clubs do require a bit of patience and the willingness to enter multiple clubs. Here is a tip - The doorman like to hussle people in. Always ask how much... most of them offer R$10 for entrance, which includes two beers. I asked for R$5 entrance with one beer (since I only wanted to check out the inventory) and often they agreed. On a couple of occassions I had to start to walk away for them to agree to this deal. Some of these clubs are fun, with good music, and most definitely much cheaper beer/drinks then you will find at the top end clubs (R$5- R$7 versus R$20-R$25). Also the girls do not seem to pressure for drinks as much. So I felt this was a fun way to start of some of my evenings, which it indeed was. Again, expect some real duds & uglies, but a few cuties mixed in. I like the hunt - plus the price :-)

I also checked out Teatro Orion - which is a strip club where the guys can touch the girls while they are dancing. A very brazilian experience, again fun (at least for me).

Termas - There a few. I visited 'Eu y Elas', R. Pires Da Moia, 494 (www.spmultimidia.com.br, 3209-2756). Entrance was $79 and included two beers and a buffet. A few cuties, but nothing on the scale of termas found in Rio. I hooked up with one cutie and had an awesome session. Great BBBJ and attitude. The girls will ask in the R$100 - $150 range. My girl asked for R$150, but immediately agreed to R$100. About 20 girls, of which about 3 were doable for me.

So, my specific tips for SP:

1) Negotiate, negotiate, negotiate
2) Always interview the girl to avoid dissappointments
3) Do not be shy to say 'No' to an overly agressive girl. If you do not like her, try to get rid of her. Do not give in to her repeated requests for drinks, unless you really have nothing better to do then to waste your money on someone you really do not like.
4) Always remember that drink prices in some of the high end clubs are outrageous.... pace your self accordingly, plus remember the girl rule above.

Why do I mention these basic rules that almost ever monger should know? Well, after having spent so much time in Rio I took some things for granted.... i.e. BBBJ in almost 99% of time without having to ask. That same principle does not work in SP, at least from my observations

Oh, one more thing - if you making a specific mongering trip to SP, try to avoid the weekends. The best action can be found during the week, from Wednesday through Friday. Sunday's is pretty much dead.

At many of the higher end clubs in Sao Paulo, the girls get fined if they DFK (or even kiss on the lips) in public areas. So, unfortunately this test during the interview is often unavailable.

LM, I stay at the Comfort Downtown too when I'm in town. It was much better run as a Mercure Hotel. But, oh well, I stay there for its location. Not its creature comforts.

SP is a great diversion from touristy Rio, especially if you speak Portuguese.

Speaking Portuguese - which I do (as you long as you do not ask me to properly conjugate verbs :-) - definitely enhances the experiences in SP.

The one thing I do not like about SP, however, is that everything is so spread out and far....
