For the past two years I have traveled and mongered at least three times a month around southeast Asia. For the first time I just said this plain sucks, I don’t see enough potential, and I am out of here. After reading some of the glowing reports and testimonials here on CH, my expectations for Phnom Penh were high. However, once I was on the ground, I quickly grew disappointed in terms of prices, quality of looks, level of service, and general attitude. After two days I decided I would leave after three nights instead of five nights. Sure I could have explored more venues and given things a chance, but I did make a conscience effort to at least check out a wide variety of venues. Given what I sampled I just don’t find PP a really viable substitute for all the other playgrounds in the same region.

Let me start off with what I did like:

I liked the short time/ blow job bars L’Cyree, Sophee’s, and Mikados. Sophee’s unfortunately was the only one which actually had sampling. Blowjobs, were ok to good in these places (not nearly as good as everyone touts on here though.) However, at least in these places you could actually find girls interested in showing you a good time and having some fun. Only L’Cyree had any girls who I could consider cute. Biggest problem here is that these are pretty much $20 visits and these places don’t open until after 6PM

I also liked the atmosphere at Sharkey’s. The wait staff was always nice, drinks were a buck or two, and they played great rock music. Also, had some decent western items on the menu.

Happy Pizza is cool, I was cautious and my wingman and I didn’t get too big or too strong a pie. However the pizza was decent and I had a nice couple hour stone afterwards.

OK general things I didn’t like

Girls attitude and performance- I have never seen so much non-performing, money whining, never wanting to live up to what was promised beforehand antics in all my mongering. Really this was comparable to mongering street crack whores in the states. Plus you got a lot of the same hygiene issues you would get with crack whores in the states. Also, Cambodia is supposedly known for great BJ’s. I got a couple of good one’s but most were pedestrian. Also, in all the brothels the girls showed absolutely no gumption to try to entice you, give you a vibe, or hell even change out of the pajamas – which looked like they hadn’t ever been washed. I should note I am the kind of person for whom a bad or problematic session puts more of damper on my day than the just the cost of the session. For me paying $15 to have three bad sessions in crappy surroundings looking for one girl I can have acceptable sex with isn’t my ideal monger holiday. You shouldn’t expect any type of non-sexual service or treatment from the girls. They will never pour your beer, feed you your food, or do anything to treat you like a man should be treated in Asia. Once again, I expect a girl to pamper me, spoil me, and cater to my whims – a much more rounded experience. “See I yum yum you – now give me more money” doesn’t count.

Beauty standards of the girls – For my eyes, the selection of the P4P opportunities was just pathetic. PP kind of reminded me of a bigger (and having BJ bars) Batam. However, I couldn’t believe that selection from the brothels in PP made the booking joints in Batam look like the offices of the Ford Modeling agency. My guess is that those who find beauties in the brothels generally only care about a girl being tiny and young. In each of these type of places, I really had to struggle to find someone who just passed fuckable standards. In Sharkey’s and Martini’s you truly won the lottery if got the one of the two or three sixes that lived amongst the packs of troll mercenary freelancers. At Walkabout they had a group of a about a dozen or so freelancers roaming around. A lot of people who like PP seem to bag on the quality in a place like AC – I think these guys need to lay off the happy pizza.

Really limited action until after 6PM. I was surprised how limited you were in finding venues to get your groove on or even amuse yourself before six at night. The selection at brothels on 63rd street and the “Apartment” were wretched. It’s too bad I didn’t know that the Great World Massage was open at one, even though it would have cost Jakarta prices for less than Jakarta quality it would have been an option I would have taken. There is some tourism type of stuff to do, but the infrastructure isn’t well developed and it was just too brutally hot to enjoy that kind of stuff. However, I did have a good two hours at the Russian market. I scored some good deals on high quality silk scarves and I thought I got some fantastic deals on some wood carvings.

Prices and business practices – I found it was like pulling teeth to try and get ST for less than $15, I am not a novice to brothels and negotiating but there is very strong resistance in many venues to accepting less from foreigners. Also, no matter what is agreed to or what tip is offered girls will incessantly whine about money –either about the price agreed upon, wanting a tip, or a tip not enough. Of course service standards are dreadful 80% of the time. Also in all the brothels I checked out, expect Toul Kok and 154th street, the brothel pimps and mamsans really took things personal and looked like they wanted to stab your eyes out for causing them to lose face because you didn’t make a selection. In China, Jakarta, Batam and etc. sure the pressure you and try to sell you on a girl, but if you don’t take one it isn’t a problem. They give you a card, hope you will give them another shot at your biz, and move onto the next customer. In PP, they did absolutely nothing to market the girls, try to help match you up and then got all offended because you refuse to pay 20 ST and leave. Why do you guys put up with that?

OK let me describe some of my specific experiences.

We had contacted Ben Wee and used him as our driver. Ben was very reliable, his car ok, and seemed like a decent guy. Ben certainly new his way around but wasn’t as proactive about suggesting venues as I would have liked. I would say Ben is OK to hire.

My wingman and I arrived on different flights around 9:30 AM. Ben showed us around to about 5 or six different hotels. We decided to go with Big Luck hotel. The clientele is mostly Chinese (none of those possible NGO whitey type customers) and the rooms decent size and clean. Also, the lobby was spacious and had character. There is even a roof top pool, steam room and massage. Two drawbacks; the aircon units had hard wired timers on them and would cut off while you slept, also they curtains didn’t hardly block sunlight so you will end up waking up early if you need blackout curtains.

After getting checked-in, Wingman and I were revving to go. So Ben first took us to the “Apartment.” This does look like a bomb out tenement building. the world must of changed then. I paid 5 dollars each and every time as did epi and sancho. I think there was 1 or 2 places in the course of the week that asked for more, but the girls told the papasan, they would like to go with us for 5 after we started walking out and we sealed the deal.

Cleaniness, well personally i've never run into a lady with any sort of warts, but admit that there is a certain aroma to their b.o., which was more of a musky smell with the darker ladies. I find the same in some very dark thai ladies as well.

btw, the best part about PP for me was the potential for hooking up with civilians. They unlike the pros, were very accomodating like thais... feeding you food, carrying your bags, no money asking, pda, the works. Crazier, i think you'd really like the civilians!

almost forgot, the price i got was still $5 at the house (but there was some bitching about it at one place), and $10 at sophies, walkabout, etc. La cyree gave me the quote of $10, then my friend asked the girl how much (after i prepped him that it was $10 standard, and to not ask how much and give away that he's a newbie) and was quoted $20. After that, i was put on that pricing as well. Martinis was $10 ST and $20 LT.

As Epi and DM will tell you, I too had a hard time getting into a groove in PP but after about 10 days, I was just fine and had a ball there. After 30 days, it was kinda hard leaving.

As many have said, PP is not for everybody but it sure can be fun after you feel your way around a bit.

SM-- indeed. You were literally turned off until you got adjusted. I too was a little phased at first for having to sift thru so many, but after a couple days I really starting loving the place. Of course, having Epi as a wingman paid major dividends due to the entertainment factor ;)

I do agree that the longer you stay the better it becomes. It wasn't until i ditched my driver after the 2nd day that i started getting to know the place via walking around town, changing up hotels to explore different regions, and moto taxi'ing it around town.

Don't get me wrong...I think pp is great fun (which is shy i made a return visit) with their beautiful women, cheap living, great food, and nice atmosphere (by the mekong and lakeside, etc).... but found the houses to be a major letdown in terms of service which was contrary to all the reports/stories i've been reading/hearing.

As with all places, I find service girl dependent, not lcoale (with jkt perhaps being an outlier). In cambo with the prices and potential language difficulties, one is tempted to just cold pull at the houses. The first few days I was there, quality for the most part was dissapointing and service was very hit or miss as I wasn't really screening anyone. As I took a few bullets by bf'ing girls, I became fairly deliberate in choosing girls and waiting for girls with acceptable looks and who appeared quite eager to knock my socks off. It worked. Also, I think part of it has to do with acclimating oneself with the raw conditions in the houses, which comes as a mild culture shock when one steps off the plane (at least for me). Soc, the positive charactericis you noted in your last paragraph played huge for me in terms of my overall enjoyment, perhaps more so that solely P4P.

I almost didn't write this trip report, because my experience was very different than those posted prior. However, we all have different MO's and seek out different things. So I wrote the the report so those who have read my previous reports and seen my pics, or have traveled with me, can decide what is the informational content of them.

If I had stuck around a few more days, would I have started to have better mongering success - most surely. However, when I was going to TJ several times a week I was getting my world rocked too. Hell when I was going to Batam every weekend, I was getting some of the best experiences and pieces of ass in my life. Others who were just making a short trip or two generally didn't fare nearly as well.

While I am currently fortunate enough to travel an awful lot, I don't have the luxury of parking in a local for a couple of weeks and work at things day on end before they start rolling. I have a very strong preference for high quality out of the box solutions. This combined with my rather stong dislike of a negative sessions (beyond the waste of money) just make PP a destination I just won't bother with further.

Trip report is hilarious. Of course, it wasn't so funny at the time. Glad we worked out the exit strategy to minimize the pain of whining girls. Thanks for bringing that spinner to my attention on our last night. Too bad had to cut the LT short on our early airport run. See you next month in Changping.

I've never been there, but have looked it up on the Atlas. It's in Indonesia, a fairly short ferry ride from Singapore. I hear the mongering is good there, but it's also a good jumping off point to even better places in Indonesia like Jakarta.

Batam is a small industrial island (don't expect a nice beach) about an hours ferry ride away from Singapore. It's popular with weekend warriors from Singapore and Malaysia, and there is also been a rise this year in the number of expats working in the oil industry.

There are a couple of islands with mongering scenes all short ferry rides away. Tanjung Pinang on Bintang Island, Tanjung Balai on Karimum Island, and Tanjung Batau I don't know the name of the island.

MongerX...sorry you had a bad time. But man...your report had me laughing my ass off!

I can only say that I had a pretty decent time in Cambo and will probably return for a few days.

But as I VERY much have a similar taste in women as you and Merlin have I have to say that Indonesia has become a priority.

I hope to some day meet you man, hope things go better if there is a next time.
