This is the second short trip i did to the outlying Islands while in Singapore. even though, i was tight with my schedule, was lucky enough to be able to squeze a one nighter to Batam. it was really quite a long while since my last time there and was a little rusty trying to dig out info from my memory bank!!!.
Singapore has been going through some serious urban renovation and now the MRT goes all the way into the harbourfront Ferry Terminal (ex-wtc). going there is a no brainer and that includes the buying of the fast ferry tickets. i decided to ride with Batam Fast Ferry operator, r/t came to a modest S$30= if not mistaken. of course you have others to choose from,ie Penguin and Berlian ferries, which at the end are the same thing; The deal with customs/Inmigration is ok and no problems, never, ever i've ever had any problems with these boat schedules, only way to miss them is IF you really want to miss them, otherwise they're like Swiss clocks, on time. left around 16:40 pm, arriving in '45 minutes later at the Batam Centre terminal. Went throu the usual drill with Inmigration first in getting my visa on arrival for 7 days; US$10= charge; don't even remenber if i saw the custom agent, just kept walking out off the terminal. right outside of the main entrance, went to the taxi stand and got a cab to the hotel i had in mind (tip from MongerX):
Hotel City View
Komp. Nagoya Bussines Center
Blk V No 35
Kota Batam
(62) 778-429-022, 429033

Taxi ride took no time at all in getting me there. now, know some guys might say this hotel is very modest, which really is true, but don't think is a rathole. very modest, some cons;
-room service sucks
-room is clean but looks old and water pressure is bad
-Tv channels are modest, just one English channel, and not very good for that matter
Pros;
-girl friendly all the way
-place is old but clean
-rooms are quiet from outside noise
-superb location within walking distance to Femina massage parlor, Centrepoint mall, Dynasty 99 KTV, Formosa hotel with its KTV lounge in the upper floor,
- small local restaurants around hotel with very cheap food
I picked the superior room and the damage was Rp 138,000 (around US$12= at the time). it all comes down to a matter of choice that worked for me on this occasion. one funny thing is how this hotel is lit at night, looks like a Christmas tree and i kind of love it, was like a guiding light helping me finding my way back. due to the good location i only used a taxi coming back from the KTV lounge at the Formosa hotel with my honey and leaving for the Batam centre terminal. think i saved a few bucks without actually thinking about it.
Weather was really nice the night i was there and was quiet refreshing to walk out. after getting a quick nap and buying a few snacks from the local store i decided to check Femina massage parlor around 8 pm, really don't know at what time this place opens but it was clean, WHAOH, mongers really left scraps!!! there were around 6-7 girls and none was worth my time. oh well, went back to the hotel to get my thoughts in order and decided to go to the hotel Formosa (within walking distance!!!, 7 minutes max!!!) and check its KTV lounge in the top floor. the Formosa hotel is a really nice place to stay and very much affordable. it has a website;
www.formosahotel.com/

Didn't stay there so i'll reserve my opinion of this joint but asked if there's any problem with bringing girls and was told no problem at all, hell, you could grab all the girls from their KTV to your room and nobody would bat an eye at all!!!. anyways, after asking for the KTV at the front desk and told to take the elevator up went myself. i was pleasantly surprized with the KTV lounge, very spacious, well ventilated and one of the GROs showed me the room with the ladies available. there were at least a dozen at the time at probably 1/3 doable. ended picking this gal build like an American girl, her name was Ela, nice firm body and big rack. was a happy camper; asked if i wanted to "book her", answer was: "Of Course". right after had a Frank Sinatra attack and wanted to vent my lungs singing. i decided to get a VIP room for my honey and myself, going over the GRO was such a cutie that i grab her too and join us in the air conditioned room. place was well set up, nice long sofa and the karaoke component was top notch, we even had our own bathroom !!! spent the next 2 1/2 hrs. singing and just having a ball with these 2 gals, me singing English songs and the chicks Indo songs, my pick for the night had some serious legs and just couldn't keep my eyes off them, was like an Octopus, rubbing them legs all night!!!. the GRO was pretty and really didn't wanted a thresome, probably the reason i didn't push the issue. i honestly don't like to flaunt money around but at the end with the VIP room, drinks, snacks, booking of the girl it didn't make a dent in my wallet; "God bless the US dollar"!!!!
Back at the hotel this girl Ela had a monster body and was a nice girl, no problems at all and as an afterthought i should have gave her a better tip the next morning. will ciertainly would be looking for her if coming back to batam any time soon.
Next morning after my cutie pie left decided to go back to the Formosa hotel and had a breakfast buffet, real good, plentyful and cheap, S$5= and well worth it every penny. afterwards i went for a little shopping at the nearby malls around, bought a few Batik shirts and other small things to take home. checkout at the City View is 2 pm and after settling the bill headed to the Ferry terminal, taxi is Rp10,000-15,000. since i had to wait around 2 hours for my boat back to Singapore i went to the batam megamall across batam Centre, kind of new and not all the stores are in service yet.
All in all it was a nice, however short, pleasant experience in Batam. apologies for not posting any pics which would come later. this trip was taken in early August i was in Singapore due to my job. wish i could've stayed longer but at least trying to share my experiences with all you guys. Club Hombre has made my mongering so much easy and pain free that the least i could do is to do my little contribution for other Hombres to enjoy. thanks mongerX for your tips concerning the CityView Hotel and all you guys for the helpful postings on the matter.///
