Just returned from my last trip of the year to Rio (Until NYE) It was shockingly cold during my vacation. I’m talking "I could see my breath, wear a jacket during the daytime" cold. Because is rained every day, most of my activities were limited to ordering in. I am one of those rare mongers who doesnt like sitting in a smoke filled terma for 7 hours straight, so I prefer having the terma girls just drop by my place before they head to work.


1) Dynamics of the game has changed - It’s amazing how the closing of Meia Pataca has changed the dynamics of the GDP scene in Copa. For many of the girls, MP being closed, robbed them of 50% of their income, I was really surprised that no other establishment picked up the excess monger business. That may have been the reason why so many of the girls in Help, seemed desperate to make some money. They were quoting the lowest prices that I have heard in years. I am also surprised how expensive the internet girls have become, they are no longer a cheap bargain. Most of them on Hotside want between 150-200R for 2 hours, plus 40-50r for cab fare. Its more expensive than going to some termas!

2) My Main Man, Bobby – I was really shocked and surprised to hear that Bobby of Blame it on Rio 4 travel, had to fire his main employee. I don’t remember his name, but he was the Manaus looking guy with the long ponytail. Turns out, the guy was stealing from Bobby! Bobby told me that the guy robbed him of thousands of dollars over the past few years by deleting, altering and changing computer records. Bobby only caught him, because he had a significant rise in business over a specific period and he didn’t see the money from those transactions. So he started investigating. I felt really bad for Bobby because he considers his employees more like family than employees and it really hurt him that this guy who had been with him for so long, was stealing.

3) Part-time Hoe – I had my first request to finance a girl in Help so she would only have to work “part-time”. She told me “If you send me 1000 dollars a month, than I would only have to work Fri & Sat in Help. Instead of working 5 days a week, like I do now!!” Funny thing is, it’s not like she has children or she is attending school! Finally, I had to tell them that I didn’t vote for Bush and that I was in Rio to get laid, not to discuss politics. One guy still didn’t get it and continued to talking about the war, I just told him “Dude, if your not talking about pussy, then I really don’t want to hear it! Leave me the fuck alone!” I am sure they spent the rest of the day complaining about what a typical “Ugly American” I was.


6) Money Train Never Stops!! – Ran into an American in 4X4 who began telling me about his problems with his wife who is a former GDP (I don’t what it is about me, that makes people want to have these long ass discussions in the termas. I guess I have one of those faces) Anyway, this guy was bitching that he thought once he got married, that he wouldn’t have to support her family anymore He said he had to stop investing in his 401K and IRA accounts, so he could send her family $2,500 a month and he was sick and tired of it.

He thought he had found the perfect solution by finding her a job. He told her “Any money you make, you can send back to your family!” But because she had a very little education and knew only a few words of English, he could only get her a job cleaning offices at night. She told him “I didn’t come to America to clean toilets and mop floors! I didn’t do that type of work in Brazil , what makes you think I will do it here!!!” She told him that she wanted to open a clothing boutique, he told her to forget it, he didn’t have the type of money it would have required to start that type of business in downtown San Fran. They came back to Rio so she could visit her family and he told me he was thinking of just stealing her return ticket, leave her in Brazil and divorce her when he got back to the states, because she was killing him, financially.


7) Young American Asshole – I was returning to my apartment building, when I noticed a young black American yelling at the poteiro in the lobby. The potiero asked me to help translate for him, turns out the asshole lost his key to the apartment he was renting and was pissed off because the poteiro couldn’t help him.

I told him “Look bro, you need to calm the fuck down! 1) He doesn’t speak English so he doesn’t understand what you are saying! 2) Its not his fault you lost your key, he doesn’t have a spare one to give you!!” The young guy was like “Well he could do something” I told him to go to the internet café around the corner, lookup Gringomanagement and call the number listed on the website. I then apologized to the poteiro for the asshole’s behavior and told him, that he in no way represented all of us Black Americans.


8) I got her first - Really funny that I ended up talking to Rio guy on Claudia’s cell phone. She had just arrived to my apartment and was in the process taking off her clothes when he called. She handed the phone to me because she couldn’t understand what he was saying. Unfortunately, he was leaving in like 3 hours for the airport and he wanted to see her before he took off. I tried to convince her to go to the Vanity hotel and spend the afternoon with him and then return to my place that night or the next day, but she didn’t feel like getting dressed and leaving.

9) No Means No!! – Fucking taxi guy at the airport when I arrived refused to take “NO” for an answer. He followed me up the escalator to the third floor and waited while I took money out of the ATM. Even after I repeatedly explained, that I didn’t need his services, he still followed me outside.

When I went to hail a taxi after it dropped off a passenger, he ran up to the cabby and brokered the deal for me. He said “I got you a special promotion rate! Only 65R to Copa!!” I wanted to punch him in the stomach! I finally just jumped in the cab, just so I could get away from this guy. The cabby refused to turn on the meter and said he was charging a flat rate of 65R, I was so frustrated at this point that I just sat back and told him to keep going.


10) Finally, some New Blood – I was pleasantly surprised at all the new girls in 4X4, a couple new morenas at Solarium made my trip worthwhile. Hell, there were even some new girls at Help that I had never seen before!! I met one girl who lived in Miami and another who lives in LA!
