SUNDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2006 - DAY 10 & WRAP-UP

I woke on my own at 9:00 am. This is the second time that I was able to sleep in at all, both times on Sundays. The traffic is less on Sunday mornings, I guess. I was groggy and had to get my bearings. When I came to, my first conscious reaction: smile.

The Vivianda supermarket on Av. Benevides is open 24 hours, so I walked over to get a couple of sandwiches for the trip (the high point of Copa's service is the timing, not the food). As I'm shopping, I get a real feeling of sadness. This usually doesn't happen when I am ready to leave here - like this trip, I usually have a great time, and I know that I'm coming back. I shake it off and go upstairs to the supermarket's cafeteria to get breakfast. They sell the same stuff as downstairs at the same prices, except they heat it up for you and put it on a plate. I had scrambled eggs, bacon, a nice roll, and a fresh cup of coffee for 6 Soles (under $2). They have signs throughout the café that they are a FREE Speedy Wi-Fi spot, so bring your computer if your hotel doesn't have a connection.

This trip, it was like pulling the lever and hitting the jackpot - almost every time. It was as if the wheels were rigged in my favor. It's true that I got some help from my friends, but I think that I did really well all on my own, too.

As I am doing my final packing, my spare bag - the one I take for my dirty clothes - rips. Luckily, I am five minutes from Tourist Crap central, and I rush over and get a very nice bag (with llamas!) for $9, and I'm back in business.

The mother of the apartment lady shows up at 12:22, checks that I didn't trash the place, and refunds my deposit. I am in a cab by 12:30 and on the way to the airport.

The flight leaves on time, and the change in Panama is seamless. There were hardly any lines and no hassles at immigration and customs (coming in late on Sunday rocks) in Miami, and I was back home in Ft. Lauderdale by 1:30 am.

I've probably had a more fun week in my life, but I'd be damned if I could tell you when.

WRAP UP/RANDOM THOUGHTS
Often, I travel and seek out the bargain chicas - I still am in wonder over the $6 girls at El Trocadero. This time, I wound up with a lot of the higher cost girls, but there are dozens of cheaper options available. Between the $6/$12 brothels and the $45 outcall girls, your budget can stretch pretty far if you want it to.

I found that my Spanish improves quickly. Don't get me wrong, it still sucks, but it gets better the longer I use it. My last couple of days, I was having full conversations with all of my taxi drivers. I would have to make them slow down and repeat themselves sometimes, but we could understand each other. It seems that President Bush is not very popular with the taxi drivers of Lima.

I haven't yet gone apartment hunting, but I started looking at ads and reading signs as I was driving around town. New construction condos in Miraflores and San Isidro are being advertised for about $40k and up. There are probably cheaper places available, and I am sure that there are more expensive options, too. I suspect that you could do very well there with $60,000.

Speaking of living over there, if I did, I would be facing some tough decisions. There are just too many options to find girls - one could never become an expert at all of them. Specialization is the key here. It's the only way that I could see keeping my sanity when facing a treasure trove of available girls. However, if I lived here, the pressure would be off. I was always on the run, due to my time constraints. Living there would relieve the associated stress.

I encounter very little where I feel that people are trying to 'get over on the gringos'. Even in the few instances that this does happen, the gringo tax is minimal - 2 soles in a taxi, 10 soles to a girl. That's not really much to be concerned about. Also, if you let someone know that you are aware of the correct price, no one says a word. For the most part, I just get in a cab, tell the guy where I want to go, and give him the correct fare. I wouldn't recommend this for new Lima visitors, but it works for me.

I would like to take a paragraph to discuss Tequila Rock. It's great. Sure, there are some stinkers among the girls, but you are going to get that in any group of free-lancers. I checked my notes from prior trips, and I have had 9 great experiences out of 10 girls that I have taken out of there. This is not the best place to go chica-shopping if you are not confident in your abilities to say 'no' to the girls, and if you don't take your time and choose carefully, I think that your batting average can go way, way down. There are those who say that the girls' prices are a little high (especially for a short time date), but when you consider that you are centrally located, can 'interview' the girl in advance, and don't have to take taxis all over Lima, that has to be worth something. And besides, I paid the two girls this trip $100 and $120, and they both stayed all night, slept with me, and we went at it again in the morning. I considered those good values.

My costs for this trip: About $1,600 in cash, $550 for the plane, $390 for the apartment, $200 in credit card charges. Total: $2,740 for ten days, nine nights, a zillion girls, gifts, gambling, and eating somewhere expensive every day (sometimes twice). I could have easily shaved $300 from the total, maybe more. I saw more expensive girls than I usually do, and that cost some more, but I don't drink, so that probably balanced out. If you divide the total by nine days, that's $304.44 per day, all inclusive. People pay that just to stay in a really nice hotel and eat at a very good restaurant back home, and that's before paying for a plane and any entertainment, much less two sleepovers. I can hardly afford to stay home <grin>.

This trip, I had the time of my life. Period. The only thing that I missed out on from my original 'hit list' was a night in Lima Centro, and what the hell - you can't do everything in only nine days. I pretty much did what I came to do, only it turned out better than I had hoped.

What about RT Gooch's Photo Model #100, you ask? Nope, I didn't forget. Here's what I decided (you can call this a rationalization if you'd like - I certainly am):

What's in a number? The whole point of this exercise was to get my chica photo count up over the century mark. I believe that selecting anyone from this trip maintains the conceptual fidelity of the quest.

I do not think that I could find a better model, nor a girl that I hit it off better with, than Mariella. She was the complete package: Beauty, brains, great in the rack, and she let me take photos. Therefore, congratulations to Mariella, RT Gooch's 100th photo model.

Markjealy: I think that I found this apartment on Craig's List/Lima. There are a bunch of them listed. I also did a couple of web searches on "Lima", "Apartment", "Vacation", and other such words, too.

Sf4dfish: The reputation as the, er, best of the best, goes to the girls from the jungle area of Peru (Salva). Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the country is basically divided in three parts vertically, and the jungle area is the Eastern (innermost) section. The largest city in that third is Iquitos, and that's pretty far North (just off the Amazon River).

The word is Selva, it means jungle literally and the place most of them come from is Iquitos, a twon accesible only by air or river boat on the Amazon. I have posted a report on Iquitos, and yes, the women there are insatiable. I met quite a few girls from there while I was mongering in Lima and just had to go visi the motherload. 1/2 the price, twice the volumns and they all want to capture you and be your sex slave. Wonderful!

Gooch, I also sessioned with Mariella, similar friendly experience. I had to not go back for seconds for fear of falling in love.

Stop posting such good reports about Lima. It is distracting me from focusing on visiting new and exciting places in Colombia. My gotta visit list is getting too long... I promised myself to focus on Colombia but your Lima reports are wearing me down and now these two Iquitos chicas... SIGH.

Well, after last night's date, I am certain that there's bad news and there's good news. I am just not sure which is which.

Thanks for asking, but it is not all that interesting a story.

Her financial situation has forced her to go back to working regularly in a high-end club. I had to barfine her out, so that she didn't get in trouble for missing work. I didn't like it, but I understood.

The problem was that she is now in 'think like a hooker' mode, and that wasn't what I was hoping for.

She does have a smoking body and is still great in bed, not to mention beautiful, so it's not like I had a bad time or anything. And we even were still able to kill plenty of time talking, but it was just your standard very good time with a hooker.

I could go into details, but 95% of the guys reading this know exactly what I'm talking about, and the other 5% will need to learn on their own.
