Cambodia...Its kind of a strange place, at the least the part around Angkor. Lots of poverty,but tour buses everywhere filled with package tourists from Japan, Korea, Taiwan and any other Asian country where they have money. I can't help but think that all this buying power is putting some upward pressure on the brothel pricing structure.

OK, so after a full day of temple hopping, its time for some nightlife. First stop, dinner at Dead Fish Tower (reviewed elsewhere on this board). A fun,eclectic place. Good call. Next, browse around Pub Street/Old Market area nearby. This is the young budget traveler/backpacker bar district. While I'm a bit removed from this demographic, I end up having some fun. I meet a couple of 30ish Dutch gals who I share a few beers with. I'm careful to not hang with them too long, as there is some mongering to do!

I ditch the Dutch girls and rondevouz with Lok (my dickhead driver) and I tell him to show me some more places where a guy can get laid in this town. I suggest the Tokyo Massage Parlor, which another Hombre has mentioned. He says both it and the Hollywood M.P. have been shut down by the police (Any truth to that? Who knows, half of what Lok has been telling me is a bunch of crap.) He says there's another M.P. called the Doe-Rae-Me close by. Let's do it. As we're going down the road I notice the Salina Hotel. I remember there's supposed to be a couple of Vietnamese whore houses close by. Hey, there's one! I tell Lok to pull over and he gives me some lip and keeps going. We pass by another and I yell "turn around godammit!" You might recall from Part 1 of this rant that Lok is dead set against any non-Cambodians getting any of my money. Grudgingly he does a U-turn and stops at one of the houses. I'm pretty angry with him, which kind of spoils the mood. Both places are quite down-market but that doesn't stop them from trying to high-ball me on price;I don't see much that appeals to me anyway, so we're back on our way to Doe-Rae-Me shortly.

The turnoff is about a half a mile north of the second Vietnamese whore house. We go east maybe a mile down a dark road through a sparsely developed area until we get to a barn-type structure with a parking lot in front. We stop and get out of the car. There's a large hole cut in the wall of the barn, there's no glass, just a large openning in the wall. You stand outside and look in and see three rows of Cambodian girls, about 25 in all, sitting there in street clothes. The whole thing looks like a primitive attempt at a Thai fish bowl (what would you call a fish bowl without the glass, a terrarium?). A few cuties, but none showing me any particular interest. Fcuk 'em, we left.

Its getting late and the plan is to get up at 5:00 A.M. to catch the sunrise at Angkor Wat. We've got time for one more stop...Sok San Palace. At last, a normal place! Its a massage parlor/karaoke/restaurant facility located behind the Vimean Thmei Hotel on Sivatha Blvd., very close to the Pub Street area. Not as classy as its Thai equivalents, but light years beyond from what I'd seen earlier. Probably 40 well dressed gals in the fish bowl(with glass this time!). Very tempted to pull one out, but know if I do, the odds of seeing the Angkor sunrise will be close to zero. I decide to leave it for tomorrow.

Lok drops me off at the Angkor Diamond Hotel, might as well have a night cap in the hotel bar. The waitress, Lida, is cute and wants to meet me on her day off tomorrow. It can't be at the hotel because management would frown on it. She tells me some weird story about her 20 year old Little Sister who is missing in the U.S. She wants me to find the husband, Mr. Kevin in Seattle to get some clues as to Little Sister's whereabouts ("Everynight I cry for Little Sister"). I decide Lida is a head case and promptly toss her number in the trash when I get to my room.
