6 November
I arrived at the airport early as usual. J’burg International was quiet and I got to the Qatar counter quickly, only to find that the flight was over booked and they wanted to bump me to another airline, Cathay Pacific, no upgrade or anything but a guaranteed empty seat next to me and I will get into BKK 8 hours earlier, sweet. Sat at the bar and court checked my emails and started writing my trip report wile I waited for the plane to board. This time tomorrow I will be in Pattaya. Johannesburg international has changed its name again it’s the third time in the last few years, its now the O Tambo International Airport, its not like South Africa has better things to do with money like feed the poor, police the streets or build houses, nope we have a few million dollars to burn on unnecessary name changes. They call the flight so I head down to the boarding gate. Wile I am standing in the boarding cue a Thai Girl walks up to me and says hello she is one of me local Thai’s friends and we met at a party a few weeks ago her contract is up and she is heading home. She seems very excited that I was on the flight because she doesn’t know how to transfer flights in Hong Kong, this is only her second time on an airplane and she clings to me in a way that would be fun if she was a little better looking, she keeps asking me if I want to go to Bangkok with her for a few days, no worry she wont tell Local Thai, but I decline. The flight from J’burg to Hong Kong is pretty uneventful I have three seats to myself so although the airline food is inedible I have a comfortable flight. We arrive in Hong Kong on time and I have an hour or so to shop, Hong Kong airport is pretty decent and the shopping is O.K. Nad, Thai-girls friend follows me around like a faithful puppy. She will do OK when she heads home her English is a sight better then most of the girls you meet in Pattaya these days. Over the last few years it seems to me that the Thai girls English has actually taken a step backwards, has anyone else noticed that?
7th November
The flight to Bangkok is a cattle truck, 100% full and a very uncomfortable 3 hours later I arrive at the new airport and am pleasantly surprised its nice modern and clean but distinctively Thai. The lines are long at the passport control but move relatively quickly. By the time I clear passport control my luggage is already on the carousel. Puppy dog comes over to say goodbye she is on home turf now and it shows her confidence is way up and to carry on the metaphor she is like a dog with two tales, I take my leave. I decide to take a limo from the airport its BHT2100.00 I know it’s a little expensive but after over 20 hours in airports and planes I feel justified in treating myself to a little comfort. Settle and try and get my bearings as we leave the airport. I have no idea where I am.
The drive to Pattaya takes two hours, there is a lot of road works and the trip is slow going. Once the roads are finished being upgraded it should be about an hour drive from the airport to Pattaya, according to the driver its 127km.
The first hitch is my room at the Sandy Springs, firstly its not sea facing as I was promised secondly it stinks of smoke and thirdly it faces onto construction site, I am not a happy camper, and complain we will see what they decide to do. SSS. I want to take a nap but can’t sleep because of jackhammers doing their thing outside my window, the manager’s attitude stinks but I am not going to let it spoil my first day in LOS …much. I give Natyworld a shout and we agree to meet at Bamboo Massage in an hour. He arrives a little late but that’s OK I am enjoying my massage. The cute little masseuse has hands of steel and is slowly braking up the tension of the last few days.
Nastyworld arrives and we catch up. I take it he will post the story of the massage girl, but it seems that he has been having one hell of a trip. After getting the kinks out we head over to visit the Vault. Mike, the owners not around and Nastyworld gives me the two cent tour the place is clean and nice the rooms are big and done out with the Monger in mind a lot cleaner and more tasteful then Penthouse but with the same idea. It’s close to Walking St. has good Internet. I unreservedly recommend the place. I met Mike a few days later and he is one interesting guy. After a quick snack at on of those nondescript eateries on Walking Street we go over to Angle Witch to meet up with LAguy at about 8. I also want to speak to the manager about arranging my Birthday festivities but the place is dead and there is no one around except for a few girls and an overly aggressive Mamosan who has trouble understanding the word no. Laguy arrives and we hang out in AW for about an hour and a half waiting for the manager to show up. By 9.30 we are fed up and head out to dinner, it’s a shame it seems that all the promise of AW Pattaya from the February trip has evaporated. The music is overly loud Techno-crap the girls look bored and unenthusiastic and there was no management in sight. After a dinner at one of the Walking St. fish restaurants overlooking the bay. We went past Lucifer’s but it was over crowded and I didn’t see much talent so we moved onto Club Boesche. There are some cuties, we were sitting next to the Jacuzzi and the girls keep pestering us for tips, in exchange for which they would do a half hearted lesbian show but the talent and vibe where good and we stuck around for a wile. A dancer catches Laguy’s eye but when he went up to her all she was interested in was a tip, and not the one he was offering he was heartbroken. So out of respect for his sensibilities we headed out and onto Cayotees, which was nice and worth a stop but none of us saw anything worth bar fining. Nastyworld wanted to take a look at Heaven so we went for a walk. IMHO it wasn’t up to much. We walk around the bars for a wile and Nastyworld ran into an old GFE and managed to get himself lost, which is quite an achievement, if you ever meet the guy you will understand why. Laguy and I stopped at Living dolls but couldn’t find anything worth wile it seemed we both had the same high standards if totally different tastes. It is my first night in Pattaya and I am not going home alone. I eventually bar fined a girl from worldwide Go-Go. Dun BF 500, 1500LT. She was very cute and accommodating and like most SEA girls the pictures do not do her justice.

Wake up at about 11am did Dun then head out met up with LAguy and Nastyworld. Nastyworld was still dead to the world so LAguy and I headed up to Beefsteak they clamed to have Australian and Argentinean Beef, its on 2nd Road in the shopping Arcade across from the Big Horn and the steak was very good. Finally met up with Nastyworld at KFC where else? He was there with his GFE and had other plans for the evening
The Japanese Facial, are you man enough?
When I told Nastworld that I intended going to Hayto in Royal Garden Center for one of there men’s facials you could see the fear in Nastyworld’s eyes. It was as if I had suggested bungee jumping without the bungee. His bravery failed him as it would most men and he fled. Laguy was made of sterner stuff and decided to join me, in all fairness he had never had one of their facials and didn’t know what he was getting himself into. I have to admit he handled himself well even though he whimpered like a baby during the “rip every black head out of your face” part. He was fine by the warm green goo phase.
After the kamikaze facial LAguy and I went for a bite of dinner and decided to explore the area around Chaiyapoon and where a little disappointed we headed back to beach road and headed to the go-go bars on Soi 7 and 8 LAguy who had been in country longer then I decided to call it a night and headed back to his hotel. I felt a little like the guy who jumps into a bucket of tits and come up sucking his own thumb. The talent wasn’t great and every time I started chatting up a girl I liked there would be some problem in two hours I heard every excuse from “me sick”, “me to tired, me go home now” to “me have period” rather dejectedly I started taken a walk back to the hotel on the way I ran into a bunch of girls waiting for the bus and we started chatting eventually I took Mu for a short time BHT1000.00 she was enthusiastic but a little lacking in the expertise department during the BBBJ she used her teeth like a jigsaw if I wasn’t already Jewish I would have been after she finished all in all not a great short time. She also wanted more money for pictures, the first time that has happened to me in Thailand so I agreed no pictures, I don’t like blackmail.
9th November
Had breakfast at the Lek hotel it wasn’t as nice as I remembered but that might have something to do with us arriving later at about 12. Did the shopping thing then headed to Sabai Dee for a Soapy at three in the afternoon there was thin pickings I chose apple, she was OK but not great, most girls found my t shirt hilleriouse they kept screeching “you Fat Albert”. I don’t know why for one thing I’m white.

As I walked out I saw Lucky from my previous trip in the fishbowl, if she had been there when I arrived she would have been my first choice dam bad timing. Had a late lunch at long horn not as good as beefsteak but not bad.
Never have a bet with a lawyer, as it can become an all day affair. As everyone knows the 1st president of the USA was either Samuel Huntington (first President) or John Hanson (first President to serve a full term), 13 years before George Washington unfortunately LAGuy was not prepared to except the word of a colonial in this regard and after a long discussion we had to resort to the internet at 15 paces and I was vindicated. On a more serious note Nastyworld was nowhere to be found and his Cell phone was not working, I was a little worried that something had happened after his disappearing act the night before.
In the evening, headed back to AW to arrange my Birth Day Bash, the manager was on his day off, is the guy is never around and it shows. We stuck round until the floor show it was very disappointing and a tired version of what I had seen in Feb there is really no reason to visit AW in Pattaya unless you have a thing for bad music, mediocre girls and pushy staff, unless they do something fast AW Pattaya is going the same way as the Kitten Club. We visited a few go-go’s off the beaten path and some of those no name clubs around Shark, are worth a stop. Stopped past the blues factory on Soi Lucky Star it was not bad, but not a place to pick up girls. Bar Fined a girl Beam, from Dolls on Walker Street very nice selection bf 600 ST1000 she stayed for 3 hours real fun time great sense of humor bubbly if she wasn’t going home to visit her family the next day I would have considered having her stick around.

10th November
Time to pay the piper I woke early and got ready for the battery of meetings I was supposed to attend in Bangkok, but as time moved on I discovered that the representative that was supposed to arrange everything had fucked up after a batter of calls to their office in SA and Bangkok and waiting for lift till about 3pm I went to Sizzlers for their BHT150 salad buffet. When I checked my Email I found that Nastyworld had left for Bangkok on urgent business. My birthday party guest list was shrinking quickly. Feeling a little dejected I headed back to the hotel took a nap. Hooked up with LAguy and had dinner at Beefsteak and then off to Walking street check out FLB, peppermint, Dolls, Super girls and heard some cool sounds at Blues Bar. LAguy headed our early as he was leaving for Bangkok early next morning, I wondered around until three but couldn’t see anything that really court my fancy , and a night off is not a sin, headed back to the hotel.
11th November
Woke at 11am SSS for an hour headed to True Internet at Royal Garden, Did a little shopping at the market, Soapy at Sabai Room. Ah restored my faith in saopies as a on going institution.

I was tired of Pattaya and as my business was FOBAR I decided to head out and visit either Cambodia or Chiang Mia but there was a festival in Chiang Mia and it seemed pretty full so I decided to book for Cambodia. Called the Vault and hooked up with BillCop from another sight and we agreed to meet at Secrets on Soi 14. This place was a real find great girls, well run, good food, its somewhere between an upscale go-go and a music bar. I decided with all the shit I had had with AW to move my Birthday bash there and that was a great choose. Bar fined Rin, she was a little chubby but cutie with a great GFE I would spend the next two nights with her BF BHT400, LT BHT2000.

12th November
Woke with a good morning with Rin, Happy Birthday to me. Sent Rin on her way and got ready to meet the parents of my SA Thai. This committee meeting lasted from 11am to 3pm they seemed not to know, or want to know what their daughter was up to, The Gestapo could learn from their interrogation methods she had an extended family and they would tag team against me. They also wanted to leave about 20kgs of stuff for me to take back to daughter number one, and that was a negotiation in itself. After they left I took a much needed nap and went to fetch my laundry. Where the fuck is Nastyworld? He said he would be back in Pattaya for my bash. Tried to book a trip to Chiang Mia but because of the festival and short notice couldn’t get into any decent hotels I decided to take a three day trip to Cambodia, the tour leaves early on the 14th. Headed to secret was I in for a surprise I arrived to a chorus of Happy Birthday the girls brought me a gift, flowers, I really felt like the man of the hour and although my Club hombre buddies had failed my there where a few friends who turned up I think with the champagne flowing shooters and cigars, a good time was had by all. The manager came Ben came over a few times to check on things, he runs a great club and has a first-class attitude. The highlight was when the girl’s brought in a birthday cake, much to my surprise. Rin sat with me the hole night so then it came to leaving how could I say no?
Guys when in Pattaya you have to try this place, I was very impressed.
13th November
I Packed and moved rooms into a suite, the new room was great but I was already soured against Sandy Springs. I went walk about on my last day in Pattaya, visited Mike at the Vault a really interesting guy who has had one hell of a life. Bought some DVD’s walked around Soi 6 went to Sizzlers for dinner. Decided on an early night even G-d rested after seven days and I have an early wake up call. As I am heading to Cambodia early tomorrow morning with a little trepidation as I have booked an expensive tour but I am traveling alone. Ambush, at midnight family of my local Thai girl turned up to drop off some last minute gifts and I expect to check out if I was alone. Sister in law and brother san stuck around for an hour, so on the early night that I really needed I got to bed at about two and I have a 5.45am wake up call.
14th November
I didn’t get much sleep there was continues industrial noise, it sounded like they were working on the pluming, which was supported by the fact that there was no hot water in the morning, after a very unwelcome cold shower I headed down. Then I told reception about the cold shower I was rewarded by a “so sorry” and a smirk, guess I won’t staying at the Sandy Springs again …Soooo sorry.
The follow is a letter and Email that I am sending about…
WHEN TOURING CAMBODIA
DON’T USE KHAOSAN CONNECTION TRAVEL CO. LTD (KCT ANGKOR)
THE TOUR COMPANY FROM HELL IN CAMBODIA.
I booked my trip with C.T. travel Services on the Corner of 2nd & South Street, Pattaya. I was promised a first class traveling experience with top class English speaking guides and a door-to-door service this is what happened:
The bus arrived about half an hour late and I was the first pick up. After a cramped 3-hour drive to the boarder with more time for pit and visa stops we arrived at the Thai-Cambodian Boarder. At the boarder an overly friendly and generally unhelpful guide was waiting “Mr. Oh.” As soon as we crossed into Cambodia he urged us to change some Baht into the local currency guaranteeing us the best exchange rates, another couple and I took him up on his offer, then he came back from the money changer he handed us the money, he told us to put it in our pocket quickly as there where pick pockets about so I did not have the opportunity to count the money. We waited for the cars and English speaking guide we had been promised but neither turned up, after a an hour wait we were transferred to a bus taken to the bus station and transferred into to broken down Toyotas, so much for my private taxi, they piled 3 of us and a half dozen boxes into the car. Then we checked the money that Mr. Oh had changed for us we found that he had short changed each of us by almost half of they local currency we should have received at the going exchange rate, he had also lied to us about how urgent it was that we change money, so much for the honesty of KCT ANGKOR’s employees. If there was a guide we would have complained but there still was no guide to be found. After a three hour ride from hell, we arrived at the hotel only to discover that we where not expected, all credit to the hotel staff, they where friendly and efficient and found us some rooms, still no sign of our guide or any representative of KHAOSAN CONNECTION TRAVEL CO. LTD (KCT ANGKOR). The hotel arranged a dinner for us and tried to contact the tour company without success. The KCT ANGKOR brochure promised an 8 o’clock pick the next morning. So after a short self guided tour of the city. We headed back to the hotel for a relatively early night. The next morning we all conjugated down in the lobby waiting for our elusive guide. After an hour and frantic calls back and forward the hotel not KHAOSAN CONNECTION TRAVEL CO. LTD (KCT ANGKOR) arranged a driver and Tour guide for us and an hour and a half behind schedule we headed out. On our return to the hotel there was still no sign of anyone from KHAOSAN CONNECTION TRAVEL CO. LTD (KCT ANGKOR) and we were all getting a very concerned about what would happen the next day. The guide arranged by the hotel took us to a dinner show, once again when we headed back to the hotel there was no sigh of the KCT ANGKOR and the hotel staff where openly embarrassed by KCT ANGKOR’s actions. We where all very concerned about what would happen the next morning. It turned out that we where justified in being concerned once again no one turned up and after calls to Thailand from my cell phone and frantic calls from the hotel an hour and half late a kid in torn jeans and a dirty T shirt slouched into the hotel and claiming to be KHAOSAN CONNECTION TRAVEL CO. LTD (KCT ANGKOR) representative, he was totally unapologetic and hostile. Everyone in the group tried to tell him about our bad experience with KCT ANGKOR but he was dismissive and totally unhelpful. He wanted to cancel our morning tours and we “must go now” to the boarder. After we insisted on at leased some of the tours that we had paid for we he sent us off, without the promised guide, to visit the Market and Killing fields. Before we left the hotel some one came up me and told me that the reason there was a problem with KHAOSAN CONNECTION TRAVEL CO. LTD (KCT ANGKOR) was that they didn’t pay their guides and drivers properly or timorously I don’t know if this is true but it would explain a lot. The Driver was unhappy that he had to stop at the market and Killing fields and hurried us along as much as possible. It is also almost pointless seeing the killing fields without a guide, as it is not well sign posted. The driver sulked most of the way to the boarder. After we cleared the boarder I was taken to the bus stop, not the transport I was promised by KHAOSAN CONNECTION TRAVEL CO. LTD (KCT ANGKOR) and had to wait more then four hours for a double Decker bus to Bangkok. A piece of advice, never take the bus that leaves from under the Twin Gold Gate Travel sigh to Bangkok. Every time I asked when the bus was leaving I was told “now now” or “we wait for five more people they come now from customs”, it turned out that they where waiting till there were enough people to sardine into the bus, and not prepared to leave on time with a five empty seats. If I had known that I would have a more then four hour wait I would have made my own way to Bangkok. So much for my premium tour of Cambodia courtesy of KHAOSAN CONNECTION TRAVEL CO. LTD (KCT ANGKOR)
I have sent this letter to all the other people on the tour for their response and this is what they had to add.
I have also emailed to every appropriate sight and the department of tourism of both Cambodia and Thailand.
Warning don’t use KHAOSAN CONNECTION TRAVEL CO. LTD. (KCT ANGKOR)
14TH November Cont…
I am not going to reiterate what I wrote in the letter so I guess I was lucky the group heading down although they most defiantly were not the mongering kind, seemed like an interesting and friendly bunch and there was quite the united nations, Thai, Swiss, Dutch, Flemish the common language was Flemish-Dutch which luckily I can speak well. After we checked into the hotel we went on a sell guided city tour and there is some action about but much more low key then Thailand there are also anti perv signs on every street and considering my guide offered me some “young coconut” I can only assume its still one hell of a problem.
15th November
Anchor Wat, I consider myself well traveled and possibly a little jaded , with a “been there, done that” attitude. It’s nice to know that I can still be surprised and amazed and Anchor Wat left me speechless. All the hassle was worth it despite KCT ANGKOR gross incompetence I will have to head back there again. I think I could spend a few days just wondering around and I have a taste for Cambodia and would like to see a little more of the country.
After the standard Dinner Dance show I arrange with the Tour guide to take me to a few clubs after dropping the rest of the tour group off at the hotel I grabbed cards at all three of the places we stopped but unfortunately I cant find them and I was not paying attention wile we drove The first club was in a back street in a two story building as I got out of the van there where a bunch of girls hanging around outside I would really liked to have taken a better look at but the Guide herded me into the building There was an open plan lobby with a number of couches and as soon as I sat down a bunch of very expectable ladies came in and started lounging around. It seemed very nice and I could see one or two girls that where worth a pop but it was my only Mongering night in Cambodia and I wanted to see more so we headed out I asked about a few places that I had read about on the web but the guide told me that there had been a sweep by police because of a big international conference and a lot off clubs had been closed by government, and he had no reason to lie did he? After a few stops I had seen that there was a thriving seen in Siem Reap. We arrived at a combination club Soapie place and I settled on Samba out of the fish bowl there was a nice selection I know I over paid at $40, the room was nice and clean, but basic and there was no soapie just a quick shower and some nice GFE action. It was a nice introduction to Cambodian Mongering.
The girl was Samma number 54 she was a great judge of character, her first worlds were “I love you”. Her family story was tragic she had a blind father who worked as a taxi driver, and 6 siblings that continuously changed age. It was hilarious and cute in a naive way. All in all it was fun but not very memorable and an expensive learning curve.

Some quick thought out of my journal about Cambodia
Beggars I encountered more beggars around the boarder then I have seen in all my trips to Thailand and in Cambodia it gets worst and your heart has to go out those kids and the victims of mines that you see every where but it does become a numbing experience. It has to detract from your enjoyment of the country where every where you look you see such poverty and suffering .
Food I liked the Cambodian food I tried, it has a lot of the qualities of Thai food but without the fish sauce and lemon grass that pervades Thai food. Although almost every second dish contained pork which I do not eat. I found the tastes fresh and they suited my pallet I thing if you like Thai food you will love Cambodian, even if you hate Thai food Cambodian makes a refreshing change. There is also the undercurrent of a French influence that makes some dishes surprisingly familiar. The Cambodians also seem to have a love of coffee which I have not seen anywhere else in SEA.
Mongering After my limited experience I think that once you know your way around the mongering must be good the ladies there are just so cute. 7,8 and 9 abound everywhere you look. But with my guide hanging around so much I couldn’t find out all the ground rule. Outside both the places I was taken there were more then a few girls milling around that I would have liked to get to know better, but I was hurried past these lovely lasses by my guide. It was also made clear to me that the hotel I was in was not guest friendly.
People. The Cambodian people some times reflect the best qualities of the Thais and at other times they come across as aggressive and there is a violent undercurrent I also uncounted almost continuous flow of rip off artists and shysters everywhere I went and almost every transaction from buying a water to my trades in the market left me feeling ripped off. I don’t like having to haggle over ever little thing I find it tiring and its bad in Thailand but way worse in Cambodia.
16th November
What a fuck up. Arrived at the Nana Hotel about midnight. Wasn’t up to much, just needed the bathroom and a few hours in the shower. We left the hotel in Siam Reap at 10am short stop at Town Market and a even shorter stop at killing fields and then on to the boarder did good time and got there in about 2 ½ hours cleared the boarder in about an1 ½ hours and was waiting for the bus by 2 O’clock waited until just after five got into Bangkok at 11pm found a taxi and headed to the Nana got there just about midnight they only had a standard room for me but would move me the next morning to a superior. Got into the room just after midnight ordered a roast chicken from room service had a shower. The room service was not bad, or maybe it was because I had not eaten since breakfast. Had planned to head to NEP but just wasn’t up to it, crashed.
17th November
Woke up early needed to get some shopping out of the way every time I travel to Thailand the shopping list gets longer, everyone wants something these days. I also wanted some pants made so I stopped at a tailor, used Brioni, they have a reputation for being a little expensive but their quality is supposed to be excellent, had 6 pairs of pants made BHT1500 each. Judging from the first pair the quality looks excellent. Headed to Gun Street to get some gun parts and pistol grips. The Thai hard wood grips are good value at about Bht500. then headed to Putnam Centre and bought some watches, PC games, CDs and DVD’s after I had finished headed for a two hour foot massage and promised myself that this was the last time, went back to the hotel for a shower and a nap. After a good sleep headed to NEP as I left the hotel I couldn’t help but notice the good selection of cuties in the parking lot. Had dinner at Mango, good Buffalo wings OK burger. The talent at the go-gos has taken a step up. Rambow4 had the best selection but I wanted to head to AW to say hi to Dave-the-rave and see who else was in town. Took a few Cigars and a bottle of SA firewater with me. Chatted with Dave and told him how disappointed I was in AW Pattaya, from his response I guess I was not the first. After a few drinks and an excellent show I headed back to the parking lot outside Nana Hotel to see if I could find anything worth wile chose a cutie who suggested a double with her good friend. Who was I to say no? The friend was not as cute but very enthusiastic BHT2000 for two hours both girls. A nice enthusiast session although went through a few condoms. Both girls gave a BBBJ every time I switched between girls they insisted I changed condoms. Gave them both my best and about three hour later they headed off I gave them each a BHT500 tip, mostly because I had no change. Want to sleep with a big smile on my dial.

18th November
Woke early but didn’t sleep well, although the room was quite and dark sent off my laundry almost out of cloths. Had a morning meeting at Paragon Center did a little shopping after the meeting. Then headed to the Week End Market took the BTS, the best way to get around Bangkok. Maybe I am getting use to the heat walked around until late in the afternoon, bought “Thai girlfriend” a yellow “ I love the king” T-shirt and a few odds and ends. She has SMSed me at leased twice a day since I got here and even called me a few times. Had dinner with Dave-the-rave headed back to the hotel for a SSS took what I thought would be a short nap but woke at 6 the next morning. Cursed myself for over sleeping but I felt energized and better then I had felt for days.
19th November
My last full day in Thailand, I must admit I am ready to head home I miss my shower and my bed. I even miss “Thai girlfriend”…a little. Woke early had breakfast and lounged around the pool for a few hours cant do much as I have no cloths, the laundry should have been back yesterday but it will only be here this afternoon. Really don’t know what to do today I am all toured out. Walked around the area tried to find Tulip without success in the evening went to Tai Boxing, fun 3 out of 7 bouts ended in knock outs a little different to the shows on Walking Street. Went to NEP visited AW and a few of the no name spots eventually short timed No from Rainbow Room4 BF600 ST1500 she was in a hurry not a great session but great tits.

20 November
Woke at 7pm wish I had LT a girl got up and started to pack, where did all this shit come from. I don’t know why but I checked me ticket rather then look at the itinerary supplied by the travel agent, guess what I leave Bangkok at 15.35 not 21.10 the travel agent fucked up and captured the time of the connecting flight out of Doha. Counted my lucky stars but its OK still plenty of time had breakfast at the Nana and headed out to the new airport without any traffic on the road it takes just over half an hour. Was planning to check my luggage in early and check out the new airport, but the counters for my flight are not open yet although it says on the ticket to arrive three hours before the flight the Qatar counters are closed and only open two hours before the flight. So here I am sitting in the departure hall using my case as a desk and working on my trip report. At leaded the new airport is a cleaner then its predecessor.
21 November
Arrived home at 5.30 in the morning, There was a short stop over in Doha, I know they are trying to marked Doha as the new Dubai but it doesn’t even come close, its expensive and there is a lousy selection in duty free but the flight home was uneventful and the airplane was decent. Got home very tired and a little irritated by the fuck ups on the trip, but its early and I am going to take some needed sleep, plus Thai girlfriend is coming around tonight and I am going to need my strength.

Regarding the new Bar Club " SECRETS "
i liked it a lot, quite a bit..
when I was there in Sep-06,
1. the girls were quite good looking
( better then some Upscale GoGo's )
2. bar fine 400 baht
3. very good food ( at least for my taste )
4. they have hotel rooms upstairs

isawai, I think you have let yourself get ripped of badly, The only people who use tour groups from back street travel shops are smug self satisfied backpackers from Khaosan road, its unfortunate that the other mongers wasant there to put you right, and also i dont think your E mails of complaint will get anywere, as this is SE asia, Every one is getting there extra bhat

Hi Nastyworld
You can make it up to me next trip, maybe in March?
Hi Bluelight
SEA is not Rio, its hard to compare the two, they are totally different mongering experiences, however if you are price sensitive then LOS is a much better bet.
The Happy Monger
Yes I am from the deep deep south, Johannesburg South Africa.
Thanks for the comments

Hi Redbus
In my defence it was my first trip to Cambodia and there where no wingmen about so I thought that an organised tour would be the best bet for a quick recon. In principal I still think it was a good idea but you have to be very careful about which tour you pick. If I had done everything myself this is how it would have costed out
Trip to border 2000.00
Visa 1200.00
Taxi from boarder to Hotel 2000.00
Two nights at hotel 3200.00
Tour guide and driver two days 3200.00
Tours Angkor 1000.00
Other Tours 1000.00
Meals and sundries. 1000.00
Taxi back to BKK 4000.00
TOTAL 18600.00
What I paid for the tour was BHT16000.00, which at the time seemed like a better deal.
Remember high site is 20/20 vision.
BTH next time I will fly, the roads are shit and there is nothing to see on the way into Siem Reap.

I thought that you had been to Cams before,
Ok i know its your first time into Cams, but reading the above i would like to add that there are $10 Hotels in cams if your on a budget, and if you do go to cams again, why not fly to Phnom pehn the Capital, and for a two day adventure get a round trip speed boat to Anchor wat, whilst your in Phnom Pehn you can see the famouse bars like sharkies, martinis, shanghies, and sophies,

Redbus
Thats the plan for next trip. I want to see Phnom pehn. I was thinking 3 nights in Phnom pehn then taking the boat down to Angkor (about 5 hours) for two nights. Next time I will be flying in and out I don't want to face those roads again.

Interesting report. I'm thinking about an excursion to Cambodia on my next Pattaya trip. It sounds like you were impressed with the looks of the Cambodian girls.
I like Redbus' suggestion of going to PP and then taking the boat.
Can't wait for the pics.

Ditto. The report was a good read but the place holders for pics with none shown is a tease.
By Tripper on Saturday, December 02, 2006 - 06:57 pm: Edit |
As its my last day of 10 here in PP I know I would like to come back again. This is only my second time here but I do like it and the people. Martinis has been closed I am told but champs d'ellyses is worth the visit. Walking back from dinner last night I witnessed a car hit a moto, hurt the driver badly, sped off, was chaseda a few hundred yards by plainclothes police tht shot the tires out with a pistol right in front of us, scary and and aggressive mob was seeming to form instantly. Got out of there fast. Now BK for 10 days. I wil come back here.

I emailed the pics to CH on the 29th November I wonder why he has not added them. My next trip seem set for the first two weeks in March, the countdown has commenced...

It's unusual for it to take this long.
Of course you can input them yourself. It's a little confusing but if you want, I can talk you thru it. Just PM me.

Nice write-up Isawal. Sorry things went so wrong for you with the Cambodia tour (makes my challenges there seem pretty trivial).
I had a bit of an issue with Sandy Spring as well. My "Sea View Suite" was more oriented towards the backsides of some ugly buildings than towards the frickin' sea. Definitely not worth 2800 Baht. (Maybe its better above the 5th floor where I was). Anyway, I moved out to the Royal Twins Palace after a few days; not the fresh, new feel of Sandy Spring, but proved satisfactory in all respects.

Fine report Isawal. I hadn't been to Pattaya for awhile and hanging with you and Nastyworld definitely enhanced the experience this time.
A few comments and/or additions.
Even though it is a bit off the beaten path, and also didn't have the premier talent, I liked Worldwide A-go-go because I didn't feel like I was being hustled there, and the prices were right. If I recall though, you made the better selection although I will need to have my memory refreshed when the pics go up.
Either you had too much of the green goo in your ears during the facial, or need some sort of hearing aid. I wasn't whimpering like a baby during the "black-head" part of the facial. I was screaming like a man bearing up under extreme torture!
Isawal, you are presenting revisionist history when it comes to the First President of the United States of America. You stated to me it was John Hanson, period. No mention of Samuel Huntington. None whatsoever. This Samuel Huntington thing only came up after I pointed out, after some cursory internet research that this John Hanson thing is a myth perpetuated by a book, inaccurate as it was, that was published in 1932 touting Hanson. Now back to mongering.
I agree about Angel Witch, and want to add we were all rather disappointed by the highly touted "show." As you probably recall, when it was over I commented something like "Is that all there is to it?" I thought the "show" was actually the warm-up to the show. It was rather embarrassing to watch.
I thought Dolls (is the full name Living Dolls?) had reasonably good talent, and while not great the girl I selected did the job.
The Blues Bar was surprisingly good, although not a place to concentrate on mongering. It is just off of Walking Street if I remember, but I don't remember the detailed directions.
What's the deal with Sizzler's? You are not the only mongerer I have run into on this trip who regularly patronizes its salad bar when in Thailand.
Also, the first steak house we went to was surprisingly good. The second (which I believe is more popular) was alright. They were not the same place though. Correct me if I am wrong but the first place was Beefeater, and the second had a different name.
Sorry to hear about your problems in Cambodia. Perhaps sometime we can meet up there and try to do it right.
Again, great meeting you and Nastyworld!
By Nastyworld on Sunday, December 03, 2006 - 09:32 am: Edit |
Isawal- Your pic must be beat meat material. I have never seen it take this long.
Laguy- Will you be around LOS late Feb - March?
Lets plan a 3 day power move to Cambodia, hold the facials !
By Isawal on Sunday, December 03, 2006 - 10:07 am: Edit |
Hi LAguy
As to your first few comments I agree whole heartedly with you. I feel that I was being kind about our experiences at AW
As for the facial it might have been the giggling of the girls that drowned out your screams.
With regard to your comments on the Presidents of the USA I refer you to the above "never argue with a lawyer" section.
Dolls and Living Dolls are two different places we visited them both but it was from Dolls, behind the Thai boxing rink that we bar fined the two lovelies.
The first steakhouse was Beefeaters, we then tried the Long Horn (the BHT99 place) across the way from Beefeaters which was not as good but still very acceptable. We then went back to the Beefeater the next day, you wanted to try their New York cut, which was excellent.
AS for Sizzlers, I make no excuse I guess I am just an adventurous eater at heart.
It was great meeting you. It looks like my next trip to LOS will be in March. I hope you will be around.

LAG.,
On Sizzlers, frankly, no fast food place entices me ever! But since this subject came up, I thought I clarify. As you observed, all I would order in McDonalds was the pineapple pie!
Recently, another Pattaya based friend from the US brought me to one (of all places in Phuket) and I ended up learning that their "salad bar" at 99 bahts was one of the real bargains of the place.
As I love Pineapple and (other fruits), drinking portions after portions of soup, and taking down some fresh salad of my own pick, 99 baths is a BARGAIN that I have not found anywhere else in Thailand in a good airconditioned eatery.
And there are days when I do feel like no carbo besides avoiding meat of any kind and that's when I head to Sizzlers in Thailand. I am told the same bargain costs much more in Australia and perhaps in the US too!
C.

Thank you, I couldn't even get LAguy to go into Sizzlers.
In the heat of Pattaya a soup and salad is sometimes all that I feel like and sizzlers has the only decent salad bar that I have found in Pattaya.

isawal ?
how did you hear about club hombre, since you live in South Arica ?
just curious..
By Isawal on Friday, December 08, 2006 - 01:11 pm: Edit |
Hi HM
I use to use a free sight called whorist.com which still comes in handy sometimes. Club hombre was mentioned in one of the postings, the rest as you would say is history.

Hey Isawal, good report with some bad experiences. I'm just catching up on my CH reading. It's too bad I wasn't able to join you for your birthday, as we had hoped last summer, but it sounds like you did fine without me. Thanks for the posting.
I've been hoping to get back to AC and LOS in February, but the way things are going, it'll get pushed back to March--so maybe I'll see you then....And we'll celebrate MY birthday belatedly, since this year I had only one 35-yr old gf (and we were both sick) instead of the six 20-yo's last year or the four Brasileiras the year before.

Hi GL
I am heading to LOS in late Feb. I get in on the 26th, but I am traveling with a newbie who wants to see Phuket (or as I call it Fuck-it) so after a stop over in Chiang Mai and a few days in Cambo I will only get to BKK on about the 9th March and Pattaya on the 11th.
Hey NW you can't scare me any excuse for a party works for me, BTW isn't it your Birthday in Feb?
