Got some down time in between sessions, so I thought I'd write a brief report about a location that's not very well covered.
Tretes is about 70 Km outside of Surabaya, Indonesia (takes 3 hours b/c of traffic) and it's located in a mountanous, forested area. The area looks sort of like Hawaii and the scenery is fantastic. It's rainy reason here (Dec.-Jan) so it rains most of the day. Much cooler and greener here than in most parts of Indonesia. It almost looks like some of the cities built on the side of the volcanoes in many parts of Costa Rica. This is where the wealthy Indonesians and Asian tour groups come. It's a small town, not much going on.
The regular girls are cute though, I'm talking about the front desk gals, waitresses, maids, etc. I'm here w/a Surabaya novia and her sister to just kick back and relax. I'm doing the "AC" thing by parking her and her sister in a nice room and renting out an entertainment room as well. So far, it's working out well. I'll post some pics from Surabaya, where I inadvertently ran into Sancho at Dolly's scoping out the scene. What a small world.

P4P SCENE
The scene seems to be centered around about 25 houses with about 10 girls each, a couple of the houses had upwards of 40+ girls. Most of the girls are average, but I did find a good sprinkling og 8s and 9s in this bunch. This is supposed to be the low season.
The houses are located on the side of a hill, with meandering, narrow alleyways, and kind of spread out.
Here's a pic of how mazelike this place is
The cost was 250K ST, the girls will go to your room for about 1-2 hours and service was generally good. 500K will get you an all nighter. All the prices were the same at the houses. I'll have to post some pics later.
Overall, this is a nice place to relax, but I wouldn't be going out of my way to hobby here -- time and expense getting here is high. Dolly -- which is laid out similarly with the houses, large windows to peer, and the red lighting --- must easily have over 100 of these houses on a few streets in Surabaya.

Good to see you getting around. If I remember correctly I introduced you to IAS in Pattaya on your last trip to Thailand. Small world indeed.
The hotel looks amazing - how much for the night?
The prices seems unreal for the venue - think you were charged bule tax?
Been doing my best to keep your women company but it's not the same with your bottle sitting gathering dust on the shelf...
Keep up the good work my friend.

Hey Epi, 2 of your bottles have made the trip here w/me but I do miss the others :-) They don't seem to have heard of MacAllen or Patron here and the locals love it; ding, ding... business idea of the day I'll explore.
Great place here to relax and train for the upcoming JKT boinking marathon. I might have be charged a "bule tax" since I'm as "Bule" as they come right. But Dolly's in Surabaya is still $7-$12 U.S. bucks short time for me. I found the same phenom in Siem Reap (tourist town) vs. Phnom Penh ($5) where things were a bit more expensive. I also wandered into all 25 houses and the all independently quoted me the same pricing.
The Raya hotel is charging $45/night for a Deluxe w/King bed. It's a very nice hotel but wouldn't say it's 4* (seen better days). But there are good restauarants, spa is nice w/ cheap massages, and lots of things to explore. And the service is literally kiss-ass although they keep sending me everything but a pillow when we ask for it.
BTW: good to see you posting again.

SURABAYA update.
This is my third trip to Surabaya, the 2nd largest city in Indonesia. Initially, on the first trip I hated the place, but found myself with a free tix here four months ago for a 2nd trip that actually got better, primarily b/c I hooked up w/a steady that's got a cute face and who laughs at my stupid jokes. She was actually working at the cashier's desk at Kowloon disco when I met her and isn't a "pro". Something exhilerating about hooking up with a girl that's cute and who genuinely makes up for her lack of experience in bed with open mindedness and enthusiasm (reading between the lines). On this trip, I was invited to meet her entire extended family (Filipino style) over for dinner this trip at a nicer Chinese restaurant at the Tunjuangan mall. And they threw me for a loop by not even asking me to pay. The reason for the celebration: her father, a civil servant, was announcing that novias younger brother just becamse a civil servant (bribes, kickbacks, $$$).
DOLLYS
There are good maps that Murasaki made of this place in the Surabaya section, but some drivers don’t know the place as “dolly’s” . Tell them, “Meester… JAYA PUTAT anda Jalam DOLLY’s … [if he still doesn't know add] Cewak Chantik, Chiki Chiki Cewak….”. and they’ll get the idea. I’ll just note some observations. Initially, I didn’t like Dollys about a year ago, but the area seemed to have more opportunities with cuties recently. The Good is the pricing is $7-$13U.S. max for ST, mostly the lower range. There are easily more than 100 houses, countless bars with karaoke and singers, lots of street venders located on two main alleyways that branch off here and there. People are really friendly here, I was minding my own business at this one bar and the locales came by and kept offering me shots of cheap whisky mixed with Guiness beer. Everyone at these bars seem to want to come by and talk to you if they sense you're from out of town.
Here’s a picture of one of the main alleyways for Dolly’s.
Each house is similarly laid out, a large window where you can peer in with girls sitting on large sofas. You negotiate and talk to the touts, some of them start to grab you (remember to pull or push your arm where the touts thumb and forefinger intersect to release the grip). If you don’t like the inventory at a particular house, the touts will generally leave you alone or fetch a gem from non-visible areas.
I found service to be generally above average here and there are some cuties, but you really, really have to look. Half the fun IMO is going on a hunt after drinking up a storm and watching the non-stop spectacle of girls, touts and customers. Although the area looks dangerous, I’ve never had problems walking around. Just be sure to look before crossing as the alleyways have mopeds whizzing by as well as car traffic.
The best time to go is between 7pm and 1am IMO, although the area can be open until 3—4 am. The earlier the better as these girls have 4-6 customers a night and are exhausted later in the night.
BEST DISCO IMO
I’ve been to most of the discos in Surabaya, and prefer Kowloon disco the best. It’s one of the largest, similar to Crown disco in Jakarta in terms of size and layout. If you sit for awhile, they will bring you over freelancers that are hired by the disco, but the girls want 300K or $30U.S. for short time. They usually have about 30-40 girls each night and the girls are above average in looks. I usually see a lot of true freelancers at this place as well. Cover charge is usually $5 U.S. and this is a good disco to just people watch.
Here’s an above average Dolly girl who provided good service and a nice woody. Most of the more average looking ones will go all out for you service wise IMO, if they don’t seem to be into it, thy gals are deathly fearful of the Customer Relations Dept. which metes out swift and certain repercussions (touts) … so don’t be afraid to complain to the girls

DESPERADOS SHANGRI LA
Desperados is a nice, western style bar where “high” priced escorts hang out. Everything here, including the girls are too expensive so I never pulled one, but it’s a great bar to hang out and relax.

I'm in ho hum Pattaya right now, but still enjoying every minute of it.

Right on, Merlin, keep up the good work. I'm glad to see you actually made it to Indonesia. Your reporting is very helpful. I'd heard about Tretes, and was curious, but your research moves it DOWN the list of places to go.
My experience dittos yours on the driving, I drove around and outside Surabaya with the gf, and the pollution was so severe I think I was getting carbon monoxide poisoning by late afternoon. Traffic was...well, Indonesian. But there must be beautiful countyside SOMEWHERE (we did see a little, including the drive-through Safari).
By Merlin on Thursday, December 28, 2006 - 02:58 am: Edit |
Thanks for reading my stream of consciousness guys. Made it to JKT and am hooking up w/MX soon for some debauchery. To answer a few quests.
Odds are I probably won't live to ripe old age (familiy history) so forget about saving for retirement and live it up I say.
Epi, I assumed "Ass U Me" the sister would be compliant but she was an ornery one that played up the "Cherry" gal shit. So I paid them both to leave after a few days.
Tretes is actually very pretty, I'll post some scenic pics for those interested.
ADDENDUM TO TRETES.
There are actually two main areas for p4p, the place I noted with 25+ houses is called SANGGRAHAN. Another smaller place, with a couple of houses that self proclaim they are "hi class" is a place called WAT ADEM. Pulled a Super real cutie out of the latter.
There is a disco from 9am to 2 am at the RAYA hotel w/ about a dozen freelancers.
BTW: the drive back to SURABAYA was only 1 hour 45 minutes, so the 3 hour trip getting there must have been unusually bad traffic.
Overall, Tretes was really relaxing..hiking, swimming, lounging, horseback riding, sightseeing and there is a Safari Zoo nearby.

Whoaaa nellie!
Fatheres should be locking their daughters inside the house!
This should prove to be an epic report. It could only get better if crazier were there to join you guys.
Have fun and Happy New Year.

Merl.,
Great that you made it out to Surabaya again n checked out Tretes.
15 yrs ago, a reknowned International Travel Photojournalist (with a few books on Indonesia0 whispered into my ear that Tretes was his heaven in Indonesia. All those brown tight "kupu kupu malam" he said.
I never ever found time to check it out and you have, I am jealous! Thanks for the information and update on a place I have always pondered on when visiting Surabaya but never quite made the journey somehow.
Pity you don't go the way of 18 holes before partaking on those 19th holes. Finna Golf & Taman Dayu are golfer's dream courses out there I hear.
Have a great NY out there !

Guys, Jakarta still rocks our world, incredible talent right now and more hotties in 1 penjay bar than in all of Dollys in Surabaya.
As for Tretes, upon further reflection, I'd go back for another visit soon as the scenery is incredible. Again, I was there during the very low season and hear it's much livelier during high season after Feb. and summer. Best things about Trestes are as follows: (1) I was the only customer around for days for these gals, ergo, low volume vs. other Indo Cities I've been to; (2) you'll encounter more of the fresh off the farm types with the tightest pussies; (3) and the service level of the gals, espec. BBBJs, was generally above average from the girls.

Merl. Small world indeed. BTW, where did you find internet in Indonesia? That earthquake in Taiwan seemed to knock the whole country of Indonesia off line for at least 3 days.
DM says those gals look straight outa the jungle...
Merlin, your certainly getting adventurous!
mmmmmmmmmmm.... jungle gals.
Merl didn't mention the 35k rupia houses in Dolly. He's not getting that adventurous.
It's "Dolly" not "Dolly's". That main side street is Jalan Dolly. Taxi drivers all know it well.
In Dolly Since many hoses have clearly posted prices there is no bulie tax there. Houses without posted prices often say 100k when infact they are 80k or something but even there competition between houses is often so stiff they come out with the correct price even for bulie.
BTW, beware the police roadblocks in SUB. Comming home from Kowloon about 4:00am after a night of sharing a little of the same fun the ladies are having in the disco and being pretty much blazed. Me and my fine lady friend were both pulled out of a taxi at a police road block. I mainly got ID checked but my nice lady friend had her purse dumped out on the taxi trunk, turned inside out and the lining thoroughly gone through and then they searched the floor and seat cusions of the back of the taxi. They rather extensively questioned my lady friend in Indonesian as well. Guess she had all the right answers because after 10 minutes or so they sent us on our way with no problems at all but it is a poinient reminder that it is wise to proactivly be aware of what your sweety has in her purse and that her ID is in order as well as your own.
Still, never made it to Tretes.
By Merlin on Friday, December 29, 2006 - 10:10 pm: Edit |
Sancho, I must admit I didn't have the stomach to venture into the 35K rupia houses as I had just eaten. :-) I had no internet access for a couple of days after the earthquake, but luckily, in Jakarta the connections started getting better each day. Now it appears ok.
We also had our ID checked in SUB near the same area. The cops wanted an original ID (only had a copy of the passport), they let me go after I produced an original Driver's License and smiled a lot. Could've been raped for 100K+ my gal later tells me.
By I_am_sancho on Saturday, December 30, 2006 - 01:36 am: Edit |
Yea, I accually got the ID check several places. It was the pulling us out of the car and keeping us there for 10 minutes and the fact that nither me or the lady was completely innocent at the moment that was the uneasy twist. To give the cops credit, none of the times I encountered roadblocks did they really do anything corrupt. I mean, they held us for 10 minutes and made a nuscence but they didn't try to shake me down or anything. The real unconfortable part was watching them carefully go through sweety's purse and hoping nothing interesting turned up.
The 35k Rupia houses are a little rough I suppose. I guess you get what you pay for. ;-) I supose you fancy types should stick to the cushy air-conditioned 100k houses. I should have shown you the little Kristian (Christian) enclave where I hang out and drink beer between sessions. That area is REALLY rough but the Kristians genuienly LOVE Americans with the highest reverance in that little area and have assured me if I am ever attacked I can run to that area and the bar owners and drunken off duty Kristian Indonesian army guys will collectivly defend me. Nice sentiment, I appreciate the offer, but I wasn't really that worried about being atacked before the offer of protection. Hey, but big beers are only 8k there and they will even share their dog meat with you for free. The hagged old Kristian streetwalkers would even do you for free just for the novelty and privelage of doing an American. But then even I havn't had the stomach for that yet. Although one time I was really drunk and caught myself thinking about it.
By Merlin on Saturday, December 30, 2006 - 03:58 am: Edit |
I'd be curious to check that Kristian place out next time, for future reference if they start rioting. The muslim dudes at the bars in Dolly area were quite friendly though, kinda ironic to see one guy in a bar with his muslim skull cap drinking and singing. Thought about getting one of those hats and wearing it into Penjay to see the response.

Personally, I think turrets would be FAR more entertaining when you got the whore away from the brothel and into the shopping malls and nice hotels. I could see walking around while dragging a hottie that keeps saying things like "shit eater", "cock chugger", "ass fucker", "bitch whore" (insert favorite unsavory exclamations here). That's a keeper in my book. Gotta have that one meet the parents...
