DR Report
Santo Domingo from 12/26/06-31.
Flew Spirit Biz Class from Fort Lauderdale to SD. Very good service, good fare ($250 in Coach RT), no issues.
Taxi to Hotel - $35 for two, one way
Stayed two nights at Renaissance Jaragua (Marriott property). Paid $94 plus. All services plus casino. Good property. Only one BIG problem – STRICT rules on visitors. Walked one in on first night, no problem. Turned away second night. Hotel says you must register at check in with name, which, of course, I had no way of knowing.
Checked out and moved to new Hilton at $135. At least there, you can have visitors at $30 per.
The visitor hassle was a big problem. Would very much like to find an upscale accommodation w/o hassle.
Every night went to Girls House on Pasteur past Intercontinental. Every cabbie knows well. In fact, every cabbie knows every club, as they get kickbacks. Used taxis for most transport. Paid $10-12 per hour and kept them, although unnecessary.
GH was good. 25-40 ladies. Many 7-8s. Some spoke a little ingles, most were very marginal. Open around 8 until very late.
Louie is manager. Mike is owner (Gringo). Both are helpful.
No hassle to buy drinks, which go for $10.
About $75 to take one out for two hours or more. Twice that for Toda La Noche.
Took a lady out from GH on three occasions. Only one for TLN. Good experiences.
Very good faces, spinner types, good personalities. One refused DATY, which was a turn off. No camera – apologies
Tried Modelo, Casa Theresa (best of others) and Blue House, but GH came up strongest.
A buddy did well at Lapsus, which is a strip club with take out.
Ate dinner at Vesuvio, Peperoni & Tony Romo. All good. First two upscale. TR as expected – best for lunch at bar. Hotel food & room service very poor.
Frequented 5 Stars – a sportsbook down from Hilton. Excellent atmosphere to watch, wager and drink.
Played golf at Guavaberry – about one hour outside town. Nice course and facilities.
In summary, good mongering options, especially considering how easy to access from US. No hassles at all except hotels. Hotel scene is problematic, plus very few options in daylight. Nothing like the “continually in your face” of Rio.
