I spent a lot of time in AC in 2006, but after meeting the girl I wrote about in my April trip report, my mongering adventures were pretty much limited to being with her every night. I really enjoy her company, actually, and don't regret too much that I rarely get much chance to branch out much and that she occupies my bed every night. Our 'relationship' is far from perfect, and our 'fights' can be agonizing, but she still has me very firmly hooked and I'm not about to complain. Besides, a side trip to Indonesia (and there were many last year) can make up for variety in a big hurry!

It's a little late now to describe all the fun I had with various board members hanging out in AC throughout last year, but Phoenixguy, MongerX, Bigballs and Hippie seemed to usually be in town when I was there and they are great friends. Seeing Xenono in action again was a treat last July and it was great to FINALLY meet GoCeltics and then Khun Mor when I played hookie for a week and fucked off to AC in October because I missed my girlfriend. Awwww?

But anyway, here are some pics and a few logistical details about my experiences in Angeles in 2006. I stayed mostly at Central Park Hotel and will continue to do that at every opportunity. They take very good care of me there (as I'm sure they do everyone else), and the place is an EXCELLENT value now that CPH guests have access to the great pool area at the new (and more expensive) Pacific Breeze Hotel about 50 yards away.

On the rare occasions last year when I couldn't get squeezed in at CPH, I usually stayed in a standard room at Apartelle Royal above Camelot. I really like Apartelle Royal too, and the ROOM there is much larger and nicer than the CPH, even the standard room. As cost is almost identical, it makes a good backup plan in case I can't into CPH.

For old time's sake, I did spend one night in a standard room at the Orchid Inn, and won't be doing that again anytime soon. Those rooms just seem rundown compared to what I'm used to, but no doubt, the Orchid has a great pool area.

I personally prefer not to stay out on Perimeter Road, I'd rather be where the bars are, but in a real pinch on a return trip from Indonesia, I stayed one night in a p1650 room at the Clarkton Hotel. The room showed its age, but again, the pool area was nice. I understand there is a whole new wing at the Clarkton, but from what I've heard their new rooms are pretty damned expensive for AC.

My usual way to/from AC these days seems to be via Tiger Air to Singapore. I travel during peak holiday travel times on most of my trips, and the airfares from the West Coast to Singapore are often quite a bit more reasonable than flying to Manila. When I DO fly into NAIA, I avoid the price gouging car services and catch a public bus from Pasay City (close to the airport) to Dau (a short trike ride to Fields Ave.) for less than 3 bucks each way.

People have complained a lot about how the bars in AC aren't what they used to be, and having spent incrementally less time in them than ever before, I'm not sure I'm qualified to disagree. I DO think concerns about excessive drink pimping have some merit, and costs are certainly up across the board in AC for just about everything. I also would agree that one might have to try a little harder to find a girl enthusiastic about going for an all-night barfine than in past times. I don't think you'd have to search all THAT hard, however.

But as I did more DRINKING than shopping in bars in AC this year, I would still say that they are fun places. No shortage of girls, and usually not hard to pick one to play a little grabass with and have a few libations. I certainly would LOVE to be there doing exactly that as I count the minutes until my next trip in a few weeks!

As I just mentioned, prices for EVERYTHING are up in Angeles from mid-2004, but perhaps nowhere more than food prices. Kokomos and Margarita Station are especially guilty, but when I think about, complaining that a meal is costing 5 bucks per person still sounds pretty cheap to me in the big picture. And I STILL really like most of the food I eat in AC and always look forward to heading there to eat. That being said, I don't live in the U.S., and I most certainly don't get out much when I'm not traveling, so I'm more gourmand than gourmet!

I'd argue, though, that AC does cheap American food pretty well (well, except for Pizza). The hamburgers at just about any restaurant in Angeles are thick and juicy and a pretty damned good value. I usually eat at least one a day. French fries at Kokomoz are EXACTLY the same fries as McDonald's. If they were in the US they'd probably get sued.

Until the first of this year, I was eating breakfast at Dollhouse restaurant 3-4 times a week and really liked the food there and the prices were some of the best in AC. Of course one day in early January 2007 I arrived to find that they had fancy new menus and prices 50-70% higher than they were a few days earlier! I guess the owners hit Margarita Station and saw the prices THERE or something and decided to kill a good thing. Too bad, as watching the activity on Fields (and outside Dollhouse bar across the street) while you eat in Air-con comfort is pretty cool. Sometimes I wish I didn't know what prices USED TO BE for stuff and wouldn't get sticker shock and feel like I was being gouged when I see the new ones. But maybe that's just the way life works about everything?

While certainly not immune from the higher priced menu plague, I still like to eat upstairs at Sub Delicious. They have moved all the pool tables downstairs now and usually have live music at night. I still like a lot of the stuff on the menu there, including the Italian sub, the football sized burger and their 'Roast Beef on Weck'. Their dishes with rice are usually good too.

The GOOD thing about Kokomoz and Margarita Station is that they have very extensive menus. If you're in the mood for variety they certainly serve it up. And I still love the buzz those places have, alive with other mongers and their OGB's and a small army of waitresses. I think it will be weird to be in Angeles now that Kokomoz actually closes late at night. I've spent MANY a night there gorging myself at 3-4 AM. I guess that will be an exclusively AM activity now.

One of the few places in town that I like that hasn't raised prices hardly at all is Chic N Ribs next to Blue Nile. I like their super fatty spicy ribs. They are only open for dinner.

I've eaten at Salvatore's (above Roadhouse) a lot over the past few trips and think there's decent value for their menu too.

The BEST food I've had in Angeles, though, is at two places on Perimeter Road, Bretto's and Cottage Kitchen. IMO they are worth a trip out to the Perimeter just for a meal. Bretto's closes at 8 PM, though.

Zapata's is still open and still serving up their rather bastardized version of Mexican food. It's OK when you're hungry and in the neighborhood.

I've spent waaaay more than my share of nights eating at Hole in the Wall, but it's now closed for construction of condos. I'll miss that place.

Porker's guide to getting hugely fat in Angeles: I usually start drinking anywhere from 5-8 AM. I eat about every 4 hours when I'm not sleeping, or almost immediately when I wake up after I do sleep. Getting buzzed and then pigging out is a big part of the Angeles experience for me. Actually I'd LOVE to do just that all the time, but my lifestyle when I'm not on vacation is considerably more dull and not quite as toxic.

With costs up across the board, I ended up cash strapped a few times on previous trips, perhaps none more than last April's trip, which made me realize that 100 bucks a day including hotel just wasn't sufficient for me anymore. Part of this is how much I personally eat and drink on my vacations, but spending ANY amount of time in the bars in AC is going to be costly unless you're purely there to get fucked up during happy hour (and many expats ARE!). 2 drinks for yourself and one ladies drink per hour is sure to cost you at the absolute minimum 300 pesos, and when you spent 5-6 hours per day/night in bars like I tend to (or used to), that adds up. Throw in 1200-1700 pesos total compensation for each barfine, I now think that a minimum budget for a conservatively good time in AC is 100 bucks a day plus hotel, so for me, would be about $130.

Having a GF makes things a helluva lot more affordable, though. Even though she seems to eat as much as I do, avoiding time in the bars severely cuts down on costs. And then there are no barfine costs either. Some day I may be asked to finance construction of her provincial mansion, or something, but so far the milk's been CHEAP in exchange for being exclusive to the same cow. Saves cash for Jakarta!!!

OK, now for those pics I mentioned:

One more from La Pasha: The girls that night were falling all over themselves to have their pictures taken. Probably not the norm anymore in Fields bars, but fun when it happens.

waitress at Lollipop, had been cherry for at least 2 years before informing me last summer that she had eventually become a 'woman':

Myles at Alaska, star of at least one Go2Phil photoshoot temporarily re-entered the market after one of her sponsors dropped her. She emailed a bunch of her Go2Phil pics, and I will link to them.

She had a small line of guys waiting for her the first night I met her, but quickly agreed to a barfine the next time I was in the bar. Had one GREAT session with her, but then she bailed and since I had plenty of drama to deal with the GF anyway, I said OK after getting her # in case future short times might be in the cards:

Cutie from "D Club". Menstruating, naturally! Thought she was cute, but really wanted her pic more because she had a giant ZIT on her forehead!

Photos Myles emailed to me -- she appeared to have gained a bit in the gut in the several months after those pics and being temporarily "retired".

I must have a weakness for LaPasha tequila girls. That one in the white shorts is looking pretty damn skippy to me about now.

Welcome to the new AC.

I always love your TR's Porker, but I can't help but notice the striking difference between what you describe your recent trips are like versus your AC trips from two or three years ago.

AC is a destination where girls have gone from marketing their services one night at a time, to basically offering their services through time shares. With all the new condo's being built I guess the same is going to happen to accomodations as well.

BTW couldn't you get drunk on better food and overindulge on much much better food in Mexico for the same money or less? Hell you could go to
Just think with all travel expenses you would save you could bang the upper echelon girl of Monterrey. If you just want to feel like you have gotten away couldn't you go to Veracruz or Purto Escondido for cheap and live like a king for the budget (plus amoritized travel expenses) you are living like pauper in AC?

Not to bust too much balls, but I am just trying to figure out why you are still so high on AC?

By Porker on Thursday, March 22, 2007 - 02:15 pm:  Edit

Not sure how you can bust my balls when I'm not the one at all unhappy with AC. Still the best value for barhopping/mongering on the planet, IMO, and that includes your favorite places that are a lot pricier. If this report sounds negative, it really shouldn't be. YES, prices are up, YES, there are girls doing more volume and getting jaded, but GFE is still available in large quantities in AC and they're damned good at the act if it really is an act.

Airfare to Asia adds $70 bucks a day to the cost of a two week trip. A comparable hotel to what I get anywhere in Asia in Mexico would be at least a 40 dollar nightly premium here. Add in the drink premiums and female entertainment premiums, and Asia is still quite the bargain.

These are pics of only my 2nd barfine in the last trips to AC. She worked at Lancelot and warned me ahead of time she "wasn't good at boom2". She wasn't lying! But LOVED her tits, and I was only available for short time anyway. I have a sneaking suspicion that this girl's the youngest sister of my worst ever barfine from my first trip to AC in July '03, and sis of current huge titted Lancelot door girl.

big tits !! big tits !!
thanks for providing a trip report on AC again.
enjoyed reading your opinion about AC.

porker!! glad to say that you make a hell of a good reporter.
I agree drinks add a lot to a mongers budget.
I had a budget for $100 a day in Pattaya, and barely had enough !!
But I did bargain to death with the Pattaya girls, and in many cases they gave in .
I knew my budget, they all taught that I wanted to be a cheap charlie, but so what ??

Porker, thanks for the food tips and the pool usage news as I too have been domesticated but still manage to have a lot of fun in AC. If you look around at the new mallI, there are some great food values and variety there too. We did the pork and chicken roter deal from the large grocery store a couple of times. Isn't the mamasan at La Pasha the old one from the old K bar?
I took the GFE to Moalboal, Cebu for a week on a Cebu Pacific promo out of Clark where life was a lot cheaper and we could snorkel, go to different beaches, and have more things to do. There are plenty of little bars on the beach but it is overrun with German divers. I did go to Bangkok for three days and found a great new little hotel right in the middle of everything for $22, but fucking was waaay out of wack so I only did two soapies as I was out of $$$.

Three of the four photo's you posted on "photobucket" came up as violating their policies. Just so you know.

Thanks for the report. I learn a lot from reading of all the experiences posted. Maybe someday I'll even be able to use it. Until then, I guess it's the occasional trip to Nogales. <sigh>

Angeles city has always been a synonymous for good nightlife, keeping in consideration how prices go up and down over the years. ciertainly you can find the girl fitting your standars as a matter of fact.
Only thing i would comment is the lack of info on hotels/prices/services and so forth that one could take in consideration when deciding where to stay. anyways, i'm easy to go along and have gone through the whole spectrum of places in this town (hotels, eateries and bars). still, feel a lot better knowing that i can post a more detail trip report than this "LUMPIA" report.///

Again, I owe you a refund for what you paid me to write this trip report... Sorry I took your money and delivered such a shitty effort in my attempt to inform and entertain SEVERAL YEARS AGO!
